On page 11, I posted a cute video that I made, basically telling Milkis to man up and not to give up over a few bad apples...

Unfortunately, this thread (blog) is getting so much attention that he can hardly come back from that kind of fail. He theatrically sabotaged his name and its reputation by throwing a fit over some childish BS. It's possible, and my bet is that he intended to get some encouragement from our good ole' community and it ended up backfiring.

In the end, I don't care that Milkis has a controversial definition of the term "esports". His live translations were good enough for me. Hell, I think "esports" is a ridiculous term to even use at all. I don't care that Milkis acts like a freaking pansy and immediately folds in the face of adversity. It has great comedic value and makes you realize that no matter what happens, you're tough if you compare yourself to someone who's feeble mind collapsed over Reddit: truly a congregation of trash. But I digress.

-If Milkis didn't actually intend to quit and childishly decided to rant for some pity love/encouragement, then he blew it. This thread seems heavy enough to destroy his credibility if he decided to come back. I mean come on.
-If Milkis actually intended to quit and childishly decided to rant to leave with fireworks, I guess it's a success - but I figure that you have to be pretty self-destructive to allow your name to go down to history like that. If I was a big shot in the community and I wanted out, I'd smooth out the edges as much as possible. The whole martyr BS is so 20th century.

Long story short, you threw away something awesome, Milkis. If I was relevant enough to fill 60 pages in the BLOG section of TL in one day, I certainly wouldn't throw that away.

Sad to see you go, Milkis, but you really offended a lot of people with that post, at least some of those comments were warranted. I think you overreacted somewhat, but it's your life and your decisions.

GLHF in your future endeavours, whatever/wherever they may be.

While I respect Milkis for all the translating he's done, he did not give me a good impression when I met him during MLG Orlando. Whenever someone tried to ask any of the Korean players for an autograph, he would have the most "dickish" way to reject the fans.

I tried asking for Boxer's autograph there when he was with a girl translator and her response was simply, "I'm sorry, he can't do any autographs right now." I tried asking for Incontrol and Tyler's autograph even when they went 0-5 in their pool play and their responses were all along the lines of "sorry, I can't do that right now, maybe later."

However, when I tried to go up to MKP for his autograph, instead of Milkis just saying "sorry no autographs" or something like that, his response was yelling "NO! STOP! NO!" in the most obnoxious way and basically treated me like the scam of the earth. Now at first I thought maybe I just caught them at a bad moment, but later I found out all my friends who attended the event (there were around 30 of them) had a similar experience with Milkis sometime or another during the event.

Naturally, I understand that the Korean players are the most popular for autographs at the event and it's the translator's job to make sure they don't get swarmed. However, there's different ways to approach the issue (even when you are under stress). If the other translators can calmly, and nicely reject the fans, why shouldn't Milkis be held to the same standard? Heck, even Incontrol and Tyler, who both were something around 4-18 the last 3 MLGs as progamers can still talk to the fans calmly.

After MLG, I just can't help but feel like he's an elitest asshole that doesn't truly care about the fans and only likes the positive attention he gets from doing it. However, even though I do not like his attitude, I do respect all the translation + work he's done so I hope him the best in whatever he does in the future.

EDIT: Just as a disclaimer, I made sure I didn't go up to players at bad times like right before or after they played a game for autographs. I tried as hard as possible to go find time at a time when they weren't really doing anything and everytime I asked I tried to be as nice + non-forceful as possible.

Was one of those 30ish people. I swear one time HongUn was sitting near the mini main stage thing (stations 1/2) and Milkis was like NO DONT SIT THERE, PEOPLE WILL ASK YOU FOR YOUR AUTOGRAPHS!!" and persuaded him to sit elsewhere. Now if that's what actually happened, I don't know because I couldn't hear what he said. That's what I got the impression of, however. I already explained my experience with Milkis at MLG Orlando on reddit, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt (although I did say he was "kind of an asshole" in my dealings with him.)

The short version is Milkis didn't seem to want to "share" his Korean programing friends. God forbid someone want to get an autograph, even if they were just watching MKP ladder or going to the bathroom.

Milkis, 형, I've respected you for a long time and have continued to show support. But this? This isn't going to solve your problems. Face it up front. Just because people don't agree, dont run away like a child, face it and resolve it. Acting like this isn't going to get you far. Don't end like this.

So in short, you have no idea at all why he did what he did, so you decided to interpret it in a very negative way and judge his character for it? What?

Not sure how a well-connected esports translator is less qualified to have an opinion about the nature of esports than a famous player (idra) or a famous caster (djwheat). Seriously, people care because he's famous.

I mean, we've flipped our shit over rekrul's opinions for years, and all he does is get drunk in Korea.

I'm glad you translate for eSports and I think it's cool that you know a lot of Korean pros and that they like you. But this strikes me as martyring, if you can't handle the response to holding an unpopular opinion don't put it out so publicly. Nobody made you make a post on Reddit that you said yourself was controversial and "elitist."

Milkis has done some great things for bw and the sc2 scene but come on man... I couldn't help but think this as I read his blog:

I wrote a controversial and offensive article and expected my fans to support me.

Only a few thousand did.

- -;; I am appalled with this blog....

It's produced 62 pages of comments but imo, only like 10 pages are worth reading. Every other comment is basically telling him "gtfo, you're not man enough....."

I just need to say this: Yes, there are people out there who have suffered as much/more than Milkis..... but if you guys put yourself in Milkis' shoes, you think you would have a better reaction? And if you say yes, then let me ask you, how would you know? Have you done what he's done? Dealt with what he's had to to deal with?

I'm not saying Milkis is this amazing guy who's completely innocent. What I am saying is, either post to show him support or don't post at all.
