First of all bad things are bound to happen if you get involved in the Reddit-community, I'm not saying that because I'm a huge fanboy of TL and the sometimes redicilous modding, but it sure as hell beats the system Reddit uses. Cause on Reddit you're only rewarded if you come up with something "quick-nerd-hatred-inventive", or if you're "famous" in some sort of way.
Reddit is nothing else than that big group of insecure boys who used to run around on the schoolyard looking to have fun on other peoples expense. And yeah sure, they sent MKP to a MLG but it hardly outweighs the general "content" that site produces. Sure one can go there and perhaps have a few fun minutes, but to actually care about it is not healthy.
Second of all, Milkis always did come out as somewhat of an emo. And thats fine, but it feels like he got pushed (still his responsibility to say stop in time) by everyone to do more and more. Of course he enjoyed it, and why the fuck would he not enjoy it, and people asked for more and more because of what he brought to the table in form of his translation. (again, look at the retards on reddit who now posts things like "oh yeah, my KR friend once said one translation wasn't perfect). It seems plausible that if he would've just kept on in the "old" fashion with translating articles and not doing so many other things on the side we wouldn't be reading this blog from him.
Third of all, I sincerely hope nothing has to do with DjWheat specifically. Its incredibly hard to understand why people keep forgetting that everything he says and does isn't because he loves Starcraft so much. Its spelled B-U-S-I-N-E-S-S. Thats why he's often one of those circlejerking guys in the schoolyard example, because for him getting spotlight on Reddit brings customers and revenue. It was pretty obvious Wheat didn't even read Milkis elities-post with even one little slice of benefit of a doubt. He just wanted to come out as the cool upstanding guy by saying fuck a few times and get the circlejerking going. You actually think he gives a fuck about Milkis or anything that he can't direct into his business? If so, please open your eyes. This goes for many more of the community figures by the way, but noone is as bad at hiding it as Wheat. And yeah he's got a good casting voice, but at the end of the day most people like him because when they were little nerdlings they couldn't go with the cool guys, but now they can. For example by upvoting posts on reddit.
I will miss Milkis alot, I hope he comes back but if not: GG!
TLDR: Milkis himself is still, at the very least, partly to blame because by investing to much into the (reddit)-community the fall gets higher and your personality has to be able to handle it when the fan gets turned on (and intensified by assholes) and shit starts flying.

It's not like wheat told everyone to rally around him and shit all over milkis. he just posted his opinion on the matter, sure it was a strong opinion using strong words but that is how wheat is if you have not noticed.

What the fuck... If someone wants to quit, let them quit. Don't tell them to just, "Ignore haters". His opinion which he stated on Reddit got totally shut down and shit on by tons of people and his work ethic, demeanor and skills in question.
If someone wants to feel hurt either help them and encourage them, or let them be hurt. Fuck off with the nonsense...

oh great, 65 pages of posts with 95% of them feeding this attention-seeking drama queen. how can you claim to not want attention when you post an extremely controversial opinion piece on reddit? i think what he meant to say is that he never wanted negative attention. thank god for DJ Wheat or the negative backlash on reddit could have been solely attributed to "haters" and "trolls". I guess these days anybody who disagrees with an opinion or has legit criticisms of a public figure is a hater. milkis has always seemed a bit biased and his translations a bit dishonest, but i think most people let it slide because he seemed like a nice person and was providing content freely. sadly i think his internet "fame" got to him and his growing need for validation, combined with his existing bias and misinformed views, made for a shitstorm waiting to happen. this OP and his related actions confirm the immaturity that was the root of the problem. oh well, there are plenty of people out there capable of translating korean to english and vice versa. hopefully the next one wont develop a god complex.

I have no idea what this is about, but it's a shame how immature this community can be at times.
If you're leaving Milkis I'll miss you, I cheered for you when you were at Anaheim and I was there.
If you're staying, please understand that in this day and age the internet can be and is often a dirty nasty place. If you're staying please do so because you enjoy your work, the vast amount of appreciation guys like you get goes unsaid but it is definitely there. The people who are vocal are always the negative ones. It's a sad fact about reality.

I respect you as a translator, but only because you worked hard on improving. I didnt know you or your background before MLGs and the first one I saw with you translating was TERRIBLE. But you had the motivation and courage to rise up and improve - and improve dramatically you did. Public speakings is the number one fear in the world and youve seemed to overcome it and gotten quite excellent at it. But thats as far as my respect goes.
With the EG, puma thing, I thought you clearly instigated the situation and overreacted. Whats worse is that you tried to deny it a day after. Dont get me wrong, Alex screwed up too, but that doesn't excuse your behavior either.
Your most recent opinion was labelled as "elitist" so It was obviously biased. I felt the community reacted a bit too harshly but I the damage was done. Its a possible reaction that you either didnt account for or you just didnt care if that happened. Poor train of thought to say the least. I'm not going to miss your contributions but just as you will probably never read this or instantly forget my msg, all is equal.
