I personally think it's awful, and so is the french dub of the show in general, it's really cheesy and similar to the older generations, much of the fantastic writing is lost in translation and I don't see anyone but little girls liking it in France (Sure the voices can sound cute though, but they reaally don't speak naturally when you get the lyrics, it's just a rough translation which often doesn't make sense)
French brony ! I'm here ^^ I haven't tried the french version yet (I'm allergic since good old club Dorothée), but a couple of friends I've convinced to give it a shot told me it actually wasn't that bad, especially for a french version... Maybe it's because you're used to english voices ? But I do believe you about poor translations, we've just always been so bad at it... :/
To others : Damn this third episode was good ! I feel like they're improving each time, if this goes on I will die of happiness before season ends <3
Here comes some rather late, or perhaps one shall call it TARDY, thoughts on the episode.
Since my general feelings went as: -Watching live: OMGOMGOMGOMGPONIESPONIESPONIES -A while later: I’m feeling a bit down, perhaps it wasn't as good. -Re watching on YouTube: No I was simply a bit down since the new episodes was over. Still the episode not only wasn't as good as watching it live, which is expected, but also felt rather different.
As my reactions to watching the other season 2 episodes was similar I did wait and now when I have watched it again I might have got a more balanced view on the episode. I do wonder how much of this is reflected in the rest of you since the opinions on the episode posts have generally gone from "OMG BEST EPISODE EVER" and then slowly over time going down to some posts that didn't like it. Or perhaps this is simply since the larger the fans the sooner they manage to post and if you don’t like it one does give it a bit more time.
Anyway over to the thoughts that needs spoilers: + Show Spoiler +
That was a really a random episode and I do like it. I did not expect more of this after the discord plot but it seems that studio B really wants to do the things they wasn't allowed to do for the first season. Also Twilight being upset, freaking out and planning crazy schemes has always been one of the things that I found really awesome, and besides she does produce some of the best faces while doing so. Thus a full episode of twilight craziness was really something for me found it as one of the best episodes.
On the re-watching of the episodes, when i first saw the episode it was simply stuffing in as much jokes, meme material and Twilight craziness as possible. I simply laughed trough the entire episode. I actually thought they overdid her creepy teeth face, not that it was bad, I just wanted a bit more variety. On the other hand after watching it again the teeth faces was really not overused and there really was a lot of other faces, and also her tendency to twitch her ear. It was also not only craziness, rather back and forth between normal and crazy along as she varied between hope and despair. Also there was spike who I don’t like to much as a person for always coming up with remarks such as his PS to the letter. Despite this he really came of great in this episode showing his care for Twilight. He was there when she really needed a friend, popping (literally) her crazy thoughts and doing all in his power to help her. The episode pacing also felt different. Though still a lot of jokes and so it didn’t felt as crammed up to the max with jokes as in the fist viewing.
It also gave me some time to appreciate their reworked art and it was really good. I will only comment on the new magic colour effects which was really great on Celestia. While I did at first react as many others at Twilights pink magic, at this last watching I didn’t even notice that it was different.
The only thing that I didn't like so much was the rarity drama queen joke. Although I found it funny, only showing this side of her personality and not the other for some reason didn't come off so good for me.
Anything else? Oh yes the new intro song. There I was simply glad it was not changed a lot. Although cheesy at first it really grows on you and now I didn't want it replaced.

Tardy!
This has some really good observations, I can attest to a similar reaction when watching the Discord episodes aswell really, when watching it live with the commercial breaks and stuff I had a really good time during but a little afterwards left me feeling that something was not quite right
However when I watched them again at my own leisure and could appreciate the finer details more and as strange as it sounds everything seemed alot less frantic (though for ep3 frantic isnt quite right to describe it, its crazy by design but funny!) and I could enjoy myself just as much as on the original live viewing, but in a different kind of way.

First thought: That doesn't sound so bad, but then did I notice that I actually understand the lyrics ... and yes they are pretty bad. There wasn't much to expect from the translations anyways. But hey at least it's not winter Wrap up in German - some voice actors can't even sing.
I can't wrap my head around what would make any decent male enjoy this show. I have tried watching it, but honestly can't do more than 30 seconds.
so if you decided you didn't like this about 160 pages ago, why did you come back?
I forgot about that to be honest. Glad you're searching my posts though
Frankly the whole fan base that doesn't consist of children is depressing me and every time I see this post bumped I can't help but picture these painfully awkward people. I mean just try to have a conversation with a girl about how you like the show MLP and see what happens.

"Frankly the whole fan base that doesn't consist of children is depressing me" You can't say things like that on TL regardless of what you are referring to.

I don't know, I don't see it banworthy. There was other more offending posts here without a warn/ban.

Search the ban list, find who banned them and PM them for their reasoning, to me it looked like a post trying to bait reactions with no substantiation, which translates to trolling, but if its a concern to you take it up with the moderator in question ^_^
I simply want to thank TL for bringing me to this wonderful series. When I was looking at the general forums, I saw this thread and obviously thought it was a troll thread (I mean, come on, a children's show on ponies?) Then, I saw the mod note that this wasn't a troll thread. Weird. So, I did what the OP suggested: watched DragonFly. Meh. Ok. Not bad, but not THAT great either. I decided to give it another shot and watched another suggested one, which was Fallweather friends. Liked it a lot more (I like Rainbow Dash and Applejack a lot), but still wasn't that interested in the series. Having an exam week coming up, I decided to start with the first episode and try it a bit. The first two weren't all that great, but the series still wasn't bad. Learned more about the characters, started watching all the episodes, and now, I gotta say, I really love the show. Dunno what changed to make me find it not bad to love it, but it kinda just happened. Probably just the fact that the series is so heartwarming and great for relaxing between studies. In the past two weeks, I watched the entire series twice and can't wait for more episodes!
So, again, Thanks TL for showing me this great series!
P.S. When I talked about the series with some friends, I found out someone also loved it :D Now trying to introduce it to as many friends as possible, convinced another and on the verge of getting another...

If you are okay with that I'm okay with that. But thanks to PureMetal I saw those YouTube videos from different perspective on bronyhood, which I appreciate. I just don't want to discourage others to post here, even from so different point of view, as long as it is not offending. And for me that wasn't offending. Just that.

Glad you aren't offended by it. I'm not either because it's cute and immature but it's easy to see why it was banned.
He was just trying to egg us on and insult us. No other reason to come into a thread 3 times and attack the fanbase with sweeping generalizations (that are incorrect) like that. And, usually worse things get banned. Of course things get missed too. If you are concerned about something offensive not getting banned, you could ask someone to report it or PM a moderator about it in the future, I'm sure they will listen.
Still, you'd have to ask the moderator (or you can just look at his ban in the Automated Ban List) to really get the real reason and some detail.
EDIT: For the love of god I am terrible at BBCode today.

No, it's ban worthy (and correctly so), but it's important to make a distinction here: He wasn't banned because he disagreed with people. He was banned because he gave a blanket insult with no substance to it. He pretty much came into a fan thread, insulted everyone who has ever posted there, and called them socially awkward weirdos.
On the flip side, I've talked to a lot of people who dislike the show for a multitude of completely legitimate reasons, and I'm still e-friends with them because they were able to be adult about it. It's the difference between "I wish I understood why people like this show so much, as I find the humor bland, the morals cliched, and the characters two-dimensional, so I'm reluctant to believe this is anything other than an irony-powered bandwagon", and "you're all faggots."
Since I'm apparently not done plugging my stirring monologues, I'll link to this post.

This brought a big smile to my face. Great post; thanks for sharing! Most bronies I've talked to had a similar kind of journey to the fandom: Disinterest and disbelief turns to interest and cautious optimism in the face of the relentless pony onslaught on forums and on the internet; watching the show for the first time yields no mindblowing experience but does invoke some mild, grudging acceptance; curiosity leads to watching every single episode and being unable to pinpoint later the precise moment when their walls crumbled and they found themselves hopelessly in love with the show and its characters.
You really do get sucked into it, and become completely overwhelmed by its sheer, unbridled optimism (or, perhaps more importantly, the complete lack of cynicism). It's a very easy show to like.
And then you realize, holy fuck, if I want, I'm just getting STARTED! There's so much awesome fan created content, and the sheer amount of quality work is completely mind-boggling. The creators of the show, from the storyboard artists to the animators to the voice actors to the musicians are all so enthusiastic about the fandom and the fact that their work is being appreciated, and they often talk to their fans or get interviewed by fan sites, so there's all kinds of mutual reciprocation going on. Hasbro, in their infinite wisdom, lets us have the fandom by quietly endorsing it through not taking legal action against the wealth of fan content, music, artwork, or the full 1080p episodes of MLP that are up on YouTube! And then they give bronies a shout-out in their promotional videos!
AND THEN the people in the fandom are so immensely welcoming and genuinely happy to see you join (case in fucking point), and when did I get transported into a world where the Transformers suck ass and cartoon fucking ponies are made of concentrated awesome?
It wasn't exactly a ban, it's just a two-day timeout. That's for coming to the thread twice saying the same thing without too much to add to it except complaining. Also helps that the mods were in a ban spree due to the many LR Threads(IEM, MLG), so it all kinda adds up
I'm sad, I have no fanarts to add to this post
Also, my friend who was mainly a G1 lover due to her childhood has now watched, together with three other friends of hers, most of G4. Now I can talk about everything with her ^_^
let me explain. When I saw this thread the first time, I laughed. Ponies? bronies? wtf? My vision of masculinity involved wearing Carrharts, eating meat, lifting heavy objects and spitting.
That was over two months ago. Today, that vision is shattered. I've watched every episode of season 1, some multiple times. I've wallowed in it so hardcore, I watched MLP with my siblings (yeah, kavdragon I'm outing you too), and even had texting conversations with my little sister that are basically recreations of favorite moments (all you do is take a cup of flour, add it to the mix!). I've tried to suck my friends in with mashups that I knew would be irresistable (my little top gear comes to mind). I knew I was near the bottom when I was forced to confess to my girlfriend my secret obsession.
How did I get here? It was you gmarshal, and every damn one of you bronies that kept this thread popping up on the side bar, reminding me every time that this thread was real, that there must be something to it. I would never have believed that this thread was legit without the dedication of everyone here.
Curiosity led to my downfall, as I watched one recommended episode after the next... Now here I am, brokenely admitting to myself and the world that... I am... a brony...
drama aside, I'm 27 and I like watching this with my 15y.o. sister... pinkie pie is our favorite I believe and we're planning to watch season 2 at some point, I just have to invite her over sometime and make it happen. Oh yeah, I still eat meat, wear carrharts, lift heavy objects and spit when I'm not singing about cupcakes. Thanks everyone for the lulz! and seriously gmarshal,

A general rule on TL is that you don't post something negative in a fan thread cause it's always gonna derail in a shitfest. If you don't like Idra or something that's fine but don't post in the Idra fanclub saying you think he's a bad player etc because nothing productive is gonna happen. Just people flaming each other.
Though MLP:FIM haters are more then welcome. We'll just love and tolerate the shit out of you <3
