Ok, I'm so moved by the Immortals (protss unit)
so basically, one night, i was bored, and i didn't know what to do, so i went through the lore behind each of the protoss units. I started with the stalker, since no matter now long i look at their protrait and other pictures, i couldn't figure out where the pilot sat. turns out they never sat there at all lol
but anyway after clickign through the list on sc2armory, i came to this http://sc2armory.com/game/protoss/units/immortal
It's so sad!
So basically, in Brood War, wounded zealots are given the choice when they are found wounded on the battlefield to serve once more with the Protoss armies. those who pledged their service to Aiur were reincarnated, in a way, as the Dragoons. They had their crippled bodies floating in the exoskeleton of the Dragoon assault platform, armed with the deadly phase disruptors
But then, during the Zerg invasion of Aiur, the Dragoon Shrine was infested by the Zerg, and the productions of Dragoons were no longer feasible.
Because of that, the Dragoons were upgraded, to protect the veteran warriors, and equipped with hardened shields and twin phase disruptors, and they became the Immortals.
But the Immortals are a dying breed, since the Dragoon Shrine was infested by the zerg. Soon, no more Immortals will remain...
I swear to God I'm never losing another Immortal in battle. I'm so touched by this LOL.

cant the protoss eventually rebuild? (if they succeed in their battles)

The best way to never lose an Immortal is to never build an Immortal! Why risk them in the field of battle?

Because armies of doomcrabs of death are awesome. Also, that's why in every fight ever in sc2, i always root for the site with the most immortals. They are just awesome.

But Zerg has like 900000 expansions

Jim raynor can make some pocket money selling scvs to protoss for their repair function .

I've always been shocked at how so many people might spend 5-10 hours a day for years on Starcraft and yet not know the lore.
I mean like Artosis hasn't even played the SC2 campaign and Tasteless (Every single SC2 caster in existence, in fact) doesn't have a clue as to how to pronounce 'Auir.'
Even Blizzard doesn't know their own lore. A High Templar merging with a Dark Templar to create archons? WTF that is utter heresy. Also, immortals should not be built at the robotics facility, as they are no more robotic than dragoons. And sentries should be built from the robotics facility as they are 100% robotic.
Also, I am unconvinced as to how forgetting to fit immortals with guns that can point and shoot upwards can be considered an 'improvement' on the design of the dragoon.

they know how to pronounce it coz in broodwar the zealots say it iirc?
|
I believe immortals and sentries were swapped in terms of tech tree position, but it was changed to balance things out.

Every time a immortal dies I kinda feel cheated and not sad.

I just wish they would start saying Tal'Darim properly. its not Tal Dar-im, its tal'dar-eem. good god its only mentioned 20 times in the campaign! And yeah I feel bad for my ex-dragoons

I used to just frown and smh when my immortals died. Now i feel so bad for that unmicroed imm that got surrounded by lots
|
Oh man... that lore is setting up for the Immortals to stop existing in future expansions.
