Four months ago, I posted this blog: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=227185
Thanks to the help of TL and much research, I have now formalised the itinerary of my Canadian odyssey, booked the flights and a majority of the other travel arrangements. It's just two weeks away and I am so excited for what will surely be a magnificent adventure and a chance to revel in my solitude and reflect on the paths I've taken and the paths I want to take.
Wednesday 7 – London to Montreal (Flight) Thursday 8 - Montreal Friday 9 - Montreal Saturday 10 – Montreal Sunday 11 – Montreal to Toronto (Rail) Monday 12 – Toronto *Pearl Jam* Tuesday 13 – Toronto Wednesday 14 – Toronto Thursday 15 – Toronto to Hamilton *Pearl Jam* Coach Friday 16 – Hamilton to Calgary Flight …then Calgary to Banff (Bus) Saturday 17 – Banff to Jasper (Bus) Sunday 18 – Jasper Monday 19 – Jasper to Lake Louise (Bus) Tuesday 20 – Lake Louise to Banff (Bus) Wednesday 21 – Banff to Calgary *Pearl Jam* (Bus) Thursday 22 - Calgary Friday 23 – Calgary to Edmonton (Bus) Saturday 24 – Edmonton to Vancouver (Flight) Sunday 25 – Vancouver *Pearl Jam* Monday 26 - Vancouver Tuesday 27 – Vancouver to London (Flight)
And as I now work to etch in the sleeping arrangement for each of these 20 nights, I turn to you again, bashfully, to ask anyone local to these regions if they could afford to lend a humble stranger floorspace and warmth for a night. If so, you will have my eternal gratitude for having played a vital role in my life-defining trip and I will do my utmost to provide interesting, hassle-free company.
To make myself less of a stranger, I will tell you a little about myself and the build up to this trip:
-I'm a 23 year old British-Korean male, I have been a member of TL since 2003 with an enduring love for all things Starcraft. I studied Film and Literature for my undergrad and completed my masters in Social Psychology last year. I work and live in London which is where I grew up.
-I decided on this trip four months ago, when in the space of a week I had just broken up with a girl I built my life around for 2.5 years, resigned from a horrible job that was not paying me my full promised salary and immediately ended up in another, which is where I am at now. It has been a really tumultuous period where my whole being was reconfigured involuntarily in the space of a few weeks. My life was a shipwreck for a long while. But now I've slowly managed to swim away back to shore and now I can finally see the debris float into the distance. The tears of grief and anger running through my veins subsided as I eventually realised that the new job I ended up with is everything I could hope for and I'm learning to be grateful that I had truly loved and laughed rather than be bitter and pathetic about the relationship being over.
Now things have stabilised and I start to fully reflect on the past and future this trip cannot be more timely.
So it'd be absolutely awesome if anyone who happen to reside in the places I'm passing through could help me out. Any drinks would be on me of course!
Either way thanks for reading and wish me luck

I like the sound of this. If you had to crash in Guelph I could hook you up.

you're skipping out on the entire east coat (anyone from quebec or ontario who claims they're on the east coast is almost certainly lying), so as much as I'd like to meet and drink with you, I can't!
have fun in your cross-Canada journey though!

I have to agree with this man and I'm from Toronto. You are truly missing out if you skip the Maritimes and Newfoundland.

I'll be in Waterloo during that time.
Don't get me wrong, you'd fit right in (lol), but it's too far from anywhere you'll be.

Sounds like you have a nice trip planned out, you should enjoy the banff to jasper drive.

TL has always helped me on vacations, so I owe it to pay it back. You can stay with me in Calgary on the 22nd / 23rd.
Some things you should know: - I have uncomfortable couches and a really nice sleeping bag / air matress. It's your choice. - My apartment is 500 sq ft. It's fucking tiny. - I work 8 - 5 so you'll have to take care of yourself then. - I live alone so you're welcome to just chill out during the days. You can come and go as you please.
Other than that we can go out for dinner etc Wed/Thurs. There are some good spots to eat in Calgary that aren't too expensive and I live downtown so you can walk wherever you wanna go.

I wanted to save my nearing posts, but:
Private message me, I can cover you for all of Montreal. I live in downtown Montreal, 8 minutes walking distance from the metro and about 12 to the Rail that you need to your next stop. 15 minutes to get to the main street of Montreal.
I will provide you water, food, shower and the internet/an extra laptop if you need to log your travels. I can also pick you up from the airport via taxi and/or public bus (will pay for your ticket). I live alone or my brother is mooching off me, so there are little disturbances.
There are issues that I will discuss with you privately: - Siblings may be mooching off my place, so you either have to stay on my room's floor if the couch is taken.
- I have school which means you need to be out of the place as well [until I come back] D:
I also need a TL member to validate who you are/good intentions.
Bring your swimsuit if you want to use the pool/jacuzzi/sauna/gym.
Fucking Chill one-upping me D: Editing further information~

Also, when's your flight on Friday the 16th? If you have some downtime I can pick you up and take you to the bus station / get dinner. Depending on how much stuff you have too, you could leave some luggage at my house and then just take a smaller pack for your 16th - 22nd trip around the Rockies.
Edit: Oh wait I'm also flying on the 16th lol. Sorry ignore this post, I can't do it

I can maybe host you for a bit in Montreal!
I would have to ask my room mates, and just say you are like my British cousin or something lol :p we have a room with a couch and stuff. But otherwise if I can't I can show you around Montreal.
|
Depending on when your train comes into Toronto I might be able to play tour guide for a few hours, but I unfortunately don't have the ability to host you. The fiancee and I have barely enough square feet for ourselves.

Aww not coming to Saskatoon anymore! Sounds like you will have a great trip
|
I'm an hour out of toronto and I don't see how you'd possibly get here but if you are really stuck on somewhere to stay shoot me a PM and we'll see if anything can work out.
Edit: if things get really bad for you in finding a place to stay in toronto I know a place I can stay in for free for a few days and you can come crash with me there. It's a nice place too ^^ Actually... taking a bit of time off doesn't sound too bad... lemme know if you're interested ^^ lol

Thanks so much to everyone in this thread, I am so grateful for all the offerings T_T
viva TL~
I'll PM you all very soon once I get my head around all the different options I have.
Once more thank you.
