So the other day my brother walks into my room (We live together) and he basically says, "Wtf why is your computer so god damn loud." This meant something clearly was up as we have the exact same builds and his was quiet. I to began to notice my computer becoming concerning loud over time.
After 2 more days of me noticing this fact after now brought up to me it seemed like my fans where working very hard, which mind you should not be happening considering my Build is of top grade even without water cooling.
So today I finally decided to investigate the cause, head to Wal-mart and bought a can of compressed air as to prepare for the worst. Well seeing as the last time I cleaned my case inside was 1 year, it looked like a cat had been living in my Comp...... Yes that much hair.
Right now on my floor is a hairball about the size of my cat TBH and now, well... My Computer is as quiet as a baby...
To many this is a common sense thing to check, even to me it is as I am a hardware and software tech. But procrastination got the best of me..
So this is a Call To Action for all you lazy people.
IF YOUR COMPUTER IS LOUDER THAN SHIT. CLEAN THE THING OUT IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE IF YOUR FANS ARE WORKING EXCESSIVELY HARD.
This blog was designed to save peoples lives. No Joke.

How dare you, sir. How dare you neglect your technological friend.

Ever see the inside of a computer in a household with a smoker?
It's worse than those warning labels on the side of cigarette packages. In fact, they should put pictures of this shit on the warning label.
Ever seen dust turn crusty and yellow?
Yeah.
Delicious.
Clean your computers, people.

Unless you want to inhale dust for the rest of the day, for the love of god take it outside. That is one mistake I wont be making again.

My video card overheated once (thankfully without permanent damage) and upon pulling it apart to check found the fan so clogged with dust that it was not functional at all so the heatsink was becoming too hot to touch. I could literally warm my house with it. Not even exaggerating, it was measurably warmer in my house with the computer on than off.
That was interesting lol.

Head to wal-mart and buy a can of compressed air (near the computer's section) attach the straw it gives you, open your case, and start shooting air as you see fit. Make sure not to hold it down for more than short spurts or else water will form = Bad.
Also you have to be 18+ to buy the compressed air (lol...)

My old laptop's fans no longer spin casue they got fried trying to when they had 1 pound of dust on them. Needless to say that laptop hits 60 Celsius once while playing WoW (no joke 148 Fahrenheit..) Anddd Started smoking.

My videocard is built to high temperature tolerances but even it couldn't handle the heat, it would peak at slightly over 120 Celsius before shutting down. Never had a computer part produce smoke though lol.

Where in socal rofl, I live in Rowland Heights and the machine def said "Is the customer 18" I sorta loled when I saw it.

The highest my laptop ever got was 80 because I had the auto shutdown disabled due to overclocking. And yes when your parts are smoking you know something is up xD

My computer overheats and shuts down occasionally. It's a laptop so I don't dare open it up to blast it with air.

Too lazy... gotta clean it at some point but not yet..

On many laptops the fan is a removable component and is very easy to clean. At least it's the case on my old Dell Inspiron.

Laptop are alot easier to clean than desktops because it such a confined space the air will blow the dust out right away instead of just shifting it.
Also its very much more important to clean a laptops fans because of how little air flow they get.

Well I'm proud to say I clean my comp every year. Around the same time I reformat it. I can't neglect my best friend now can I?
