This is just a thought be a nice thing to have built into sc2
Maybe just a translator that will translate words that the designers have put in. From the join screen you should be able to see the map and rules. But I find myself in situations where ill go play a korean and when I select my race he'll go ZERG?????. Now we cant communicate, however I then wonder if I might have joined a game which was specifically no zergs or something.
If blizzard could just have a little database of words such as zerg, protoss, terran, map names, unit names, no, yes, that would automatically translate to your set language when you played, communicating with people who speak different languages could make the game much better. It would also promote people playing with people in different countries and a greater world wide community.
Haha just a thought personly i would like it in BW too...heh

that would actually kind of cool, being able to type in something in inglish and have it show up on their screen in korean, though it would take a long time to get something like that working I suppose, there are a lot of words you can possibly say hopefully they fix the thing where you go join a game in the melee catagory and you see a whole bunch of random characters because you can't support korean characters on your computer.

I don't think it'll be necessary if they add an auto-matchup function a la War3. You'd see race, map, rules, and basically whatever you need to know without you needing to communicate with your opponent in any way

SCII will have full Korean language support in the US version. Just learn Korean.

I don't think many people will be willing to learn Korean just for that -_-

Like a tiny built-in babelfish....that would be very cool. Its fun to play people from different countries and cultures.
|
Lol have you ever tried to translate Korean through babelfish though? It would read like: you: Hi, want to play a game? them: Birds howl on the long hatchet. you: huh? them: gl hf
|
It will have anonymous match making. Maybe they'll give you options to vs people of specific race only, much like the option to 'thumbs down' certain maps etc.
|
Haha well anyways all i was asking was like for us to be able to know what a game title says somewhat would be nice
"you: Hi, want to play a game? them: Birds howl on the long hatchet. you: huh? them: gl hf"-luddite
Well that is more interesting to look at then random kor text

It'd be cool if they had automatic translations of certain phrases, they have it in Final Fantasy 11 and it's a really awesome feature. It just has certain phrases in green instead of normal white text indicating it's an automatically translated phrase to whatever region you're in (I think in FF11 it's from English to Chinese or something? I completely forgot what country whores that game hardcore). This is the first idea that I fully agree with on these forums in a LONG time.
edit: here's a poll just to see what other people think, maybe if we get enough of a positive response blizzard could actually pay attention to it?
Poll: Automatic Translations? (Vote): Yes (Vote): No

Rather than automatic translations, you can have a combo box with selections of commonly used phrases like "hi", "ready?", "go", "thanks", "sorry", "hold on", etc.

doing it is hard google translator babel all of that have shitty translations
what can blizzard do

Name a game where they have anything close to this. Even simple programs like instant messengers dont have this.

Waste of time. I doubt most people care about this "problem" and the few that do can just stop being lazy and learn a few Korean characters. Ask some Korean guy to make a "Essential Starcraft-Korean-Language Guide" or something.

Lol i would like to but im sorry if i cant read @#%^!@#!!!! or 1:1#@!$!!!!!! haha ill be happy if they give the us verson kor text support. Anyways its not like im saying i command them to i mean it's blizzard im sure they have the time to do it with a patch like they randomly add shiet anyways, its not liek im asking for a full translation of every word just some common words hell like porably less then 15 words max to like kor to eng to spanish to german to any random shit im sure they can do that full translations are hard but just a few words im sure they can cover that.Anyways the only thing that is a waste of time is your attitude and my typos.
(proably less of a waste of time then complaing to blizzard on how every unit looks and tell them to throw out months(not really months for 1 unit but it does take alot of work to get an art drawing into something like maya or mudbox things like that) of art graphics animation and modeling work becuase you dont like a weapon or something)
