6 rines 3-4 vults with vults rallied 3 tanks and a few scvs

the rines tank while vults plant is what allows the scvs to build walls and shit and the tanks siege....do u think this will see a significant shift in the metagame and make a shift by toss to reaver (negating the rines and thus less time for vults to mine and terran to get a good position)?

discuss.

edit: basically fd build into 2nd fac
the game was just played, flash vs jangbi @ KHAN vs KT, 23/2/10

fac cc fac? Is that what you're talking about? You give so little information other than the fact that flash has done it atleast once... Either way your post is aweful -_-

I recently made a thread about this and got alot of good advice.

I think its one of the reasons flash has started doing FD alot more, and is why I switched to FDs from Siege Expos.

http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/games/36065_Bisu_vs_Flash/vod

A recent version of it from Winner's League. One of my favorite games of the past few months too.

+ Show Spoiler +
Bisu goes for a 1gate range + obs -> expo. In the interview, Flash said he saw Bisu's obs at his nat. So he do not need build more turrets to defend from reavers or DTs. Instead he lands his Rax and builds more rines (already had 8 from FD). He moves out when his 4th tank pops with 10+ rines and rallies vults with mines. Siege finishes right when he reaches Bisu's choke. Some gosu turret placement and gg.

Truely a thing of beauty. Only really viable when you can rule out reavers, but I'm totally gonna try this on my friends!
Opportunities multiply as they are seized.

I haven't watched the game yet. Could this be done with siege expo? how does the timing differ?

You can do it with a siege expand aswell, but if you FD before, you'll have alot more marines.

this strategy isnt all that special... you have to be good as flash to pull this off and map has to be in your favor... watch light vs snow... snow stopped it without breaking a sweat.

I don't even play sc but I want to know his "new management" style.
We have multiple brackets generated in advance. Relax . (Kennigit) I just simply do not understand how it can be the time to play can be 22nd at 9:30 pm PST / midnight the 23rd at the same time. (GGzerg)

I don't think it has too much to do with map balance - its a pretty viable build order on most non-huge-maps. However, its heavily based on precise timing and abusing greedy builds vs. protoss. Yes, it isn't all that special, but it makes toss players think twice before doing a greedy build vs. Flash - and I'm sure that's Flash's goal. With his macro/intuitive brilliance, he should be able to decimate Toss players with the edge he gains over toss players with this build.

I actually agree with ExSoldier. I don't believe it is different from any other timing push, but it's flash doing it which makes it so good.

And yes, flash's secret management style mush be figured out, which is impossible unless replays are available...

IMO this isn't really a good strategy outside the pro-league scene. I've played many PvTs at lower levels where 2 fact is completely negated by things like 4 dragoon flanks, surrounds, and tank snipes.

Imo, if you're going to expand, expand. Don't push out until the Protoss is taking his third. Doing a push like that is flogging a dead horse at this level because your units can get sniped so easily.
the throws never bothered me anyway

i dont understand why this has to be done off an FD. Siege expand or expo after 3-4 marines on the spot at the natural before tank (cut ~2 scvs) gives so much better econ and can allow for a 2nd fac to be placed while the 2nd tank is building before building 3rd supply = higher vult count earlier into the game. Once your expo is up and running, keeping pumping marines and you should have 6+ by the time you attack.

Isn't there some advantage with going FD instead of Siege Expo when doing this though? Why else would Flash do FD in all of his recent TvP's?
I believe in the almighty Grötslev! -- I am never serious and you should never believe a thing I say. Including the previous sentence.
