The only viable solution is the D2 one where left click can be exclusively move and you can swap what's on right click with a hotkey. Such a setup is not possible in D3, instead we are forced to have left click for both move and a spell. I'm not sure what you want, this system lets you 1) attack in place without moving, 2) move without attacking by accident or 3) attack if you point at a monster or move if you point at the ground. The only limitation I can see is that you can't have "just move" bound to mouse left click. D2 never had a "just move" option, you just put the default attack on left click and tried not to click on monsters.

Shift + click like in D2.

Indeed, I quite frankly don't see the problem here

Finished it once through as the Witch Dr and going through again for the achievements (yeah I like achievements, makes it feel like there's more content in the game) and having so much fun. Blacksmith to level 4 though...that's going to take a while. Don't think I'm going to be able to complete everything this weekend.
Try the melee characters. Especially barbarian. You can auto attack and smile nonstop.

In case your location is correct, I think Blizzard said that the beta wouldn't work in Korea, but that they'd have another wave of beta keys for Korea to make up for it. I don't know if that's the cause of the issue though but might be worth checking out.

Can all regions/countries participate?
Due to regional differences and features of the stress test client, Korean players will not be able to partake in the stress test weekend. However, beginning the week of April 23, we will be conducting a separate, invitation-only closed beta test that will give players in Korea a chance to try out the game, along with players in the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

I've completed the beta as a Monk and all I can say is that I'm not disappointed at all! And we're talking about ~1/3 of the first act! We will not be let down when the game finally is released!

Just finished downloading the client, after 4 hours (really bad internet) and the server is down ? Damn...

Anyone has problems with direct3d , like game will not start and remain in background then after 10 min some errorrs will pop.

And binding attack to left click in D2 virtually lets you do this.
While you can bind the left click spell to another key, say shift-1, so that left click is exclusively for moving, you then cannot effectively use this spell, as the mouse spells are usually directional.
The current situation where you are basically forced to have a directional spell for left and right click is very clunky because sometimes you want to move in for an AoE spell, but cast the left click spell instead, or you move in when you don't want to, forcing you to use shift far more than you had to in D2.

So I know this has been asked but haven't seen any responses really... I'm stuck on updating setup files and hasn't moved all morning. Am I wasting my time or will it eventually update?
|
So couple questions to someone who may have played more. Do you no longer have regular attacks past 1 min in the game? And is there a way to switch through attacks like in D2 with f1, f1, etc mouse scroll? Or are you just stuck with your 2?
I still like the game but those 2 are really bothering me specially the second that seems really stupid they would do that.

I've seen like 20 different fixes for this issue across various sites. What worked for me personally was downloading the GB client instead of US (selectable on bnet account) and going to the properties of the download program. then compatibility and selecting service pack 3 and running it as admin.

I just saw this on reddit. I didn't think about this until I saw it. Now I'm a little disgruntled.

I've played the wizard and barb to lvl 10 and yeah I think regular autoattacks are out of it. I don't see this as an issue though, I can't say I would miss autoattack or anything.
As for abilities, it's about choices mostly. At the start you have 2 abilities, but further on this increases to 6. All of these 6 have their own category of abilities, and you can only have one of them active at a time. Switching these will start a 20sec or so cooldown. So it's mostly about choices really. As a lvl 10 barb for example, I have to choose between an aoe stun and a leap. Kinda makes for tactical choices.

Really though, how often have you not been able to play on Bnet because it was down? Over 1.5 years of SC2 I think I've seen it down perhaps once or twice. This open beta is a stresstest, it was supposed to have issues.
