You should also really never be oom with Blitz because his mana costs are so low unless you use Q to farm or never ever go back to base ever. I strongly disagree with the Manamune opening. Manamune is not ideal on Blitz because you spend ~1k on the Tear which will charge up slowly before you get Manamune, and if you rush the Manamune you end up with ~2k invested in something that won't make you a threat for a while and can't help you live longer to CC-lock everything in sight down. Sure, once you get a lot of mana you can hurt people more. But then Atmas does the same as well and actually gives you tanky stats and its conversion rate on hp/mana -> damage is higher too because you should have more hp than mana. (Anivia is the only exception where having more mana than hp is ok imoimo). If you're laning, a Cata is much better because it gives your hp and mana as well as that great sustain from the passive. If the other side plays right, you shouldn't be landing your Qs very often and that's 16-20sec of downtime where you get poked at. Core build for lane Blitz imo is Saph/Boots+Pots -> Cata -> Triforce -> Banshees/Frozen Heart/Randuin depending on the circumstances. If you go Randuin, then HoG somewhere is fine. Triforce should be your first major item. There's a massive spike in power once you complete it. You just run into the other team and CC-lock them down for your team. For boots, generally go Mercs. If they have no CC, Ionian or Graves are okay, but generally that shouldn't happen. For jungle Blitz, go Cloth+5 -> Wriggles -> Triforce -> Tank. Again, boots follow the same rule as above. Also, R should generally be saved until when it is absolutely necessary since the passive gives a lot of dps. Also, space out your W+Es for maximum damage. Finally, don't always initiate with Q. Sometimes it's just better to W, run into them, E someone (sometimes Flash-E Udyr style), then Q as they try to run. | ||

So like, Yorick or Corki (even though no one builds it on Corki anymore). Blitz doesn't spam spells and I never thought his passive was good enough to merit getting a Manamune. (Using the calculation that Sheen is added onto E damage and not multiplying it all since both are treated as separate on-hit modifiers.) Without those Sheen procs but, say, +30 from a Manamune you've charged so far. (That's ~500 mana bonus, or half a Tear's worth so a lot of charging required.) Your burst damage from the exact same combo comes out to about 700. It's a noticeable difference. If the fight goes on for longer, the Sheen procs every 2 seconds also contribute more damage than +30 AD every autoattack. | ||
