I'm not attempting to be sarcastic or hate on Brood War in any way, but since I don't really understand Brood War past very basic stuff, could you please explain what "SaviOr management" is?

If you watch the fpvods he doesn't have high apm like many zerg pro's have currently , so he counters that with having great management , having great eco's , building units at each hatchery waiting for his enemies to make his moves . If you watch carefully in the fpvod (If you did ) . He knows he has the advantage and he has the ability to manage and flank his armies is what made savior the management zerg .

Edit : My description of savior style of play is really shallow compared to ver who greatly describe and analyse why he is the god of battlefield http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=226236

I didn't get a chance to watch the entire VoD yet, but I watched segments, and from what I could see (and once again, not trying to start anything BW vs SC2 etc.) I think the reason we haven't seen a Zerg play like that yet, is because Macro is so much easier for some players in SC2 (due to MBS, etc.) and Zerg macro especially tends to fall down to Rally Hatcheries > Select all larvae > make units that since players don't have to go to individual hatcheries and utilize macro abilities that way, it's not something that develops into a playstyle like that.

That being said, I really don't like how Zerg players tend to make and forget units, and then lose them mid-rally because they're coming from the wrong hatchery (I see this a lot with Zerglings).

Honestly, the game went from incredibly enjoyable (it war a real "swarm" feeling) to horrendous. I had this creeping doubt that even with a 100 food lead, Aria would lose ><

Profiles below masters don't display loses on sc2ranks or bnet. That isn't his actual record.

I'm gonna try and explain why I think it can only be a bw pro that recently switched

1. Ladder Gosu - With mechanics like that? not very likely. But give them the benefit of the doubt and say sure they got those mechanics from playing ladder a ton. What about the unit compositions and engagements? If he has been laddering for quite some time and got those crazy mechanics from it, theres no way he would straight up make such bad unit composition and engagement decisions. VERY UNLIKELY

2. SC2 pro offracing - The unit compositions and engagements are tell tale signs. There is no way an sc2 pro would have made those decisions even if they are off racing. even if they are not aware of the strengths and weakness's of certain zerg compositions, he must be aware of how an engagement would pan out and back off when its not in his favor.

3. SC2 pro zerg - this is the least likely in my opinion. mechanics are good thats fine. but theres no way you could be that good mechanically and make such a poor decision on engagements and unit composititons as a pro sc2 zerg. A pro sc2 zerg would have switched to hydras after seeing no collosus or fast teched to broodlords. Weird engagements like attacking with a bunch of roaches after seeing how many stalkers and sentries huk had.

4. non-bw pro player - very subtle things make this seem unlikely. great overlord spread, overlord scouting early game, expansion timings, burrow micro, baneling drops, muta harass.

But if he was playing since season 1, I doubt that it's a BW pro, and even if he were, it would not be surprised since he has been playing since the game was released, anyone can do that, and has been doing it.

but then it doesnt make sense how he has these great mechanics but doesnt understand the basics of sc2 unit compositions.

You can confirm it is a BW pro if the no of games played starts to increase at a fast rate.

Yeah, this got posted already, and I had read this before, but glazed over the mechanics discussion. Still, it's very impressive, but I feel that the way SC2 eases up on Macro mechanics and larvae management, etc. this playstyle is way below optimal regarding his unit preparation and larvae usage.

EDIT: I would like to point out, I wish more Zerg players utilized their units and engaged more like him.

I do, the main reason I'm focusing on the mechanics is that it would be almost impossible to approach the game mentally as astute as he did, especially at this point and time with the game being so young.
