in my mind i'd almost always rather have a butterfly on slark rather than an AC

huh, the majority of his lategame dmg comes from right clicks, his magic burst falls off after midgame. but yes i agree that i wouldnt get ac on him unless im the only viable carrier on my team. it's situational if anything, not luxury

idk 500+ magic damage at <10s cd is a fair chunk even on 3+ slots, especially when he spends a lot of his time murdering supports. Even on cores essence shift is a non-negligible amount of damage as well since it's pure.

Final decision is the same either way. I personally wouldn't even put it in situational, he has slot issues to begin with and it becomes one of those "if you know when to buy this you won't be subscribed to this guide" things.

yeah i mispoke. situational is probably a better category than, an item you'd pick up once you can afford it.

and yes, his dmg is hp removal, but you're also gonna have to have some form of right click at some point. VS a shadow fiend and slardar, potentially alchemist too, im not sure a bfly is better.

im not 100% sure, but im pretty sure that i'd rather have the additional armor than the evasion knowing that im not always going to be untouchable. and ofc as i mentioned, if enemy carries already have an mkb for whatever reason.

Neither satanic nor ac are remotely purchaseable
okay AC is purchaseable vs ET thats it.

lifesteal is the absolute least of your worries considering your ulti and after SnY Skadi you have no HP concerns either. Your ultimate combined with potentially a shadowblade obviate most concerns regarding enemy rightclick damage and in all circumstances either a BKB or a refresher are more survivability than ac or satanic by an enormous margin.

Slark should never lose a right-click fight since virtually no heroes (lc ) can force him into one he doesn't want and with a skadi + basher he should win fair ones.

Like there just aren't games where you don't want to be at Treads(eventually travels) Shadowblade SnY Skadi Abyssal (BKB/Refresher/Moonshard) at 6 slots. Obviously you can upgrade shadowblade and potentially do it by splitting SnY then sell the yasha but pretty much every item I haven't mentioned sucks on slark 99 games out of 100 imo.

the upsides of AC are attack speed and more +armor as well as giving the enemy -armor

kinda like the ratio between attack speed and damage (too much of one without the other isn't ideal), you need balance.

the 25 str gives you hp, but when you're being right clicked with rank 3 amplify, that extra hp isn't going to be as useful as if you had the armor to back it up. even rank 2 amplify would rip you up when you're being right clicked.

(and slardar can apply the debuff as often as you can shed it, so none of that "oh but you have a purge" nonsense )

assuming that you're getting a fair fight in a pub is a big mistake IMO lol. as we talked about with orchid to deal with ember, its questionable because you can't pick up an item for 1 hero and then think you're good to go for the other 4. same concept applies to your thinking that you'll always be picking a fair fight.

out of the top 15 most played heroes this patch (slark is #16), about half of them have a blink initiation that can give their team the opportunity to burst you down unless you have the reaction time of a god or your teammates react similarly.

Trying the Tusk guide. The one game I played so far was a snowball win, so I'm reserving criticism until I get a more balanced experience. But I definitely appreciate the Mango, even though I held onto it past the 20 minute mark. The +1 HP regen helped a lot with sustain on my post lane roam; I kept showing up to fights with a bit of health missing, having skipped going back to base.

I had someone play it after strongly advocating the more offensive build. He did pretty well with it, but I admit that my own Tusk experience was not so great (using either build)

I just had an idea where we can transform guides to be "Support/Offlane, etc." but where the tab says "Core Items", we'll mark it as Core Items (Middle/Jungle/Lane).

Thoughts?


Might be a good idea to just implement that second part due to how the names get cut-off when looking at guide titles

yeah the build is wild. i was wildly inefficient the first time i played it and fought more than i split pushed..still finished the game six slotted and dishing out 2 agha by ~35-40 min.

i can see why its so good, but most pubbers have no idea how to play it and how good it is.

i fought a 3v1 fight vs a riki, DP, lich and lived, while all 3 of them died lol

I was playing at the absolutely bottom of tiers, newbies and such.

1 to 3k MMR

I would say it was still wildly good, even when pushing my team to be proactive. Especially since he isn't ganked at mid, ever.

its so hard to gank that hero after lvl 6.. he's definitely getting nerfed in 6.86

the problem is that while thats what a guide is supposed to do, its hard to illustrate how you should be playing with that playstyle. i think you run under the assumption that no one actually reads the text and simply uses it for skill and item builds?

thats probably a fair assumption. it wrecks, but no one reads.
