Don't know if anyone has a review on this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823330017
It's a QUMAX Cherry Brown keyboard, with a normal 104 key layout (important to me) meaning backspace is a normal size, and shift is next to the question mark and no slash in between it in exchange for a fat enter key.
Let me know what you guys think, it comes with a free wireless mouse which just means I can be lazy and watch GSL from my bed at night and not give a shit (I use a Steelseries Xai when I'm on my computer actually playing anyways).
If anyone has awful comments about the keyboard I mean I can always get it returned and get a ducky instead, but this one I got at a pretty good deal for 80 bucks, so let me know.

For an entry level keyboard it is nice, and for browns thats pretty cheap, usually you only get a tenkeyless ducky for that price. Plus the free mouse is a plus, although I would never use it hehe, never experienced it, but I would say if you don't like it within your warranty period ducky's are always solid choices.
It's out of stock now, so anyone wanting to get one will most likely have to wait and chances are it won't come with the free mouse anymore, but are the keys wobbley? does it have full NKRO? does it feel hefty for that price?
My experience with cheap keyboards aren't that great, I think I only gave the Siig a 5/10 and the Adesso mkb a 6.5/10

Oh thats an issue, I do a lot of numbers work so I use my numpad a lot so I definitely don't want to go tenkeyless. In that case I guess this is the best I'll get for a full 104 key keyboard, normal layout, with browns. Only one I've seen like that is Das silent or the Meka G1 but those ar e always much much more expensive.
I'll answer all the questions in your second paragraph once it comes in, probably on Tuesday or Wednesday is my guess. I've tried out keyboards of all kinds in the past but always didn't want to fork up 100-120 bucks for one so I just stuck to my old Dell SK-8115's for about 7 years now, but like I said I'll answer all the questions about it once I get it. NKRO isn't too important to me since I don't need to be hitting that many keys at once lol.

If they price was a little lower, I'd sy OK. but another $20 u get a more reliable board. The Meka G1 I don't think has browns. Look into any of the boards suggested in the OP or the subsequent guides mentioned for more reliable boards.

Meka G1 is black only i think

Can anyone give some feedback about this? I also would like to have basic multimedia keys for changing the PC's volume. I don't need macro keys and stuff but a numblock is also a must have.
The razor black widow seems to fit at some points but I dislikee all the (for me) useless macro keys and backlite stuff.
Any recommendations? Thanks!
Well numlock is standard on every keyboard but I think I know what you mean. I am using a Das Keyboard and the construction is rock solid. I don't understand this flak about the glossy surface, it isnt a total pain to clean up or anything like that.
One of the reasons it doesn't have any media keys is so you can plug it into the PS/2 port. This allows you to take advantages of the port (which is superior for gaming to USB).

Hey anyone know of a simple mechanical keyboard that uses Brown switches and uses a matte finish? I was about to buy a das but for some retarded reason they use a glossy finish which just attracts fingerprints.

Well the Duckys seem to fit your description. I think the one I just linked is like that too, but newegg JUST sold out of them this morning.

I'm looking for a Backlit keyboard, with basic multimedia (last song, next song, stop, play and volume) as their own independent buttons. however i also want one with a 3.5 headset input with a little on board sound card so i can separate my razer carc headset so i can have vent coming through my headset with game sound out my stereo. Is there any Mechanical keyboard available that meets these? and i'd probably prefer something like the cherry brown switch. If you want a mechanical you are going to have to compromise on some of these requirements. First off independent media keys aren't an option. Best you can get are modified F keys. So if you can settle on modifed media keys then there is: Black Widow Ultimate (BWU) (Comes with blues, unless you order browns from Razers site) The Qpad quoted earlier on this page (only comes with reds backlit, others without backlighting) Corsair K90 (reds again, no jack) Steelseries 7g (no backlighting, only blacks) TT Mecha G unit (no backlighting, only blacks) (There are a couple of TT boards with or without macro keys etc) Ducky Shine (no jack, but possibly the best quality here) XArmor U9BL-S XArmor seems like your best bet if brown switches are a requirement. Or the BWU stealth edition (browns). Why couldn't he order the QPAD K-80 from their site with brown switches? It says global shipping
From what I understood of their site the Qpad only came in reds with backlighting while the one with all switches had no backlighting. But it wasn't very clear and you are probably right.

Blackwidow stealth (not really that simple), Filco, Ducky, Rosewill. There are tons. I hear Rosewills are a pretty good deal atm.

Let us know how you find it compares to blues.
What's the main point of Reds? I heard they press the most easily so it's easy to make mistakes. Are they also quiet?
|
Yeah they are quiet since they are linear switches, how did you get it for 50 dollars? They were 80 for the past week on Newegg. And the main point of reds are just really light linear switches, its similar to Sanwa buttons if you are familiar with arcade parts, whereas a brown switch would be more like Seimitsu buttons.

He wrote $50 off not $50 for the board.

Ah gotcha, anybody find any deals on the keyboards during cyber monday? Pretty unique market so I didnt' find any on keyboards except like, the razer blackwidow stuff

nothing exciting enough even in pc components, to get me to buy anything. Was hoping for a decent sized ssd but nothing, the only good deals were the RK-9000re for $80 on friday T_T;;; I see more sales closer to xmas time.

Okay, so im about to buy a mechanical keyboard (currently, using this, http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-PZ30AU-Eclipse-Keyboard/dp/B0007TJ7TE)
And i have a few options, and dont really understand much about keyboards, so any advice would be nice.
So, i can get a blackwidow for about 60$ via the military. Ive heard they are built very poorly, so im leaning AWAY from this. Also dont like the F keys being moved to the right. BUT, it is my cheapest option. These use MX cherry blue
Then i have the two "biggest" contenders. A) Steelseries G6v2. It is 95$ after shipping, and can use 6 keys at once w/usb (i dont have a ps2 port on my desktop sadly) The keys come off easily, but idra uses this, and some people SWEAR by steelseries (i love my kinzu ) But ive heard the keys arent held on too tightly? There are no bells and whistles, its a straight up keyboard. MX cherry black (no audible/tactile feedback)
B) The TTEsports Thermaltake MEKA (not the g1) This is 80$ after shipping, w/military discount. It SEEMINGLY is built like a tank (watched a video review comparing like 5x keyboards, he did the g1, though, but the MEKA is the same thing just compacted.) There are no bells and whistles, and it handles up to 15 keys at once. Again, MX cherry black keys. --IT IS COMPACT. There is no gap between the numpad and the standard keys. The ? is flipped w/shift, and the windows keys are gone. Backspace is slightly smaller. I dont really have a problem with this, i can learn to use the ?, and whatnot, but is the windows key being gone really bad?
Now, to the questions 1a) I am buying a keyboard to (hopefully) help improve my apm SLIGHTLY on the keyboard end. If im, say, spamming infested terrans, i hold down the hotkey for t he spell, and click. However, i click faster than my keyboard can repeat the command Would this help? Would there be any improvement at all in apm/control?
1b) My left hand gets a bit tired after using my current keyboard for LONG periods of time. The keyboard is like 5 years old, got it from a friend, and its a bit worn down/sticky at times. Would getting mechanical make it less wear-and-tear on my hands?
2) Which key type is the best? I know blues have audible and tactile feedback when u cross the threshold, so u know youve gone far enough, but is this needed? I would assume most gamers just hit the key down all the way anyway.
3) Which do you suggest i get? Money IS a problem :/ But not THAT much. I mean, i can GET them all, but spending less is nice lol

Judging by those three points, MX Cherry Red switches would probably suit you the best, they're the best for double tapping(increasing APM) and have the lightest force requirements(making your hand hurt less).

unless you constantly bottom out, people who bottom out any mech key switch will have sore fingers for at least a week.
