Does anyone have a Razer Blackwidow here? I'm debating between that and the Qsenn. I absolutely adore the Blackwidow's keys' response. Thing is that it costs anywhere between five to ten times the price of a Qsenn, and I have no way of testing a Qsenn.

Because keyboards don't really matter, the greatest of the greatest champions won many of their OSLs and MSLs on these 5 dollar junk keyboards.

korean sc2 players are moving on to mechanical keyboards, if that means anything

What about BW guys? Or are they still using the DT-35.

They use it because they are used to it. Changing keyboard after playing the same game with the same keyboard for 10 years isn't exactly easy.

Yes it is.

I find it appalling how so many underestimate the human brains ability to adapt, and adapt quickly. Just because you've used it for X amount of years doesn't mean it won't take less than a day to adapt to a new keyboard. Give it a day or two and you're back to your old form, and possibly even better since the new keyboard is supposed to be better than the old one.

They use it because they are used to it. Changing keyboard after playing the same game with the same keyboard for 10 years isn't exactly easy. If i remember correctly the dt35 is used in many pc bangs which also makes their lives easier. correct me if im wrong about the last part.

I know that. But given that the SC2 guys, a lot of them at least are BW guys, and that they are changing, is it because they changed keyboards during the change from BW--->SC2. Though if you watch the GSL, a lot of BW guys still use the DT-35. (NaDa, MKP for example).

if you watch the progaming house tour videos by artosis, you'd see that at least 50% of the people are still using dt-35s. There's a lot of hype around mechanical keyboards imo. Keyboards are just keyboards - if they're made half decent, I find them to be mostly on the same levels of quality.
PM me if you want random korean images translated.

But my question is: "WHY?"
What makes DT-35's so popular amongst korean gamers? Is it just because that they are used to it when they transitioned over from BW?

Don't you DARE call the Qsenn DT-35 a 'junk' keyboard! O.O

Best keyboard ever, I'm serious.

Come on, the QSenn isnt bad but you will get just as functional a keyboard if you just buy a super standard microsoft keyboard (well, I dunno what the current iteration of their bog standard keyboard looks like, but used to be you could get a good one).

Indeed. Before trying out a mechanical keyboard, I used a dirt cheap Dell SK-8115 for around 3 years before hundreds of hours of BF2 caught up to it and 4 keys died. From my understanding QXC the same keyboard. If I saw another one for cheap I would easily use it over my mechanical keyboard. The spacebars on them are much more comfortable than my 6GV2. And I don't make so many typos on them.

Ooh, I just found them online. 25 keyboards for 80 bucks.

I'm using a Dell too and there's nothing wrong with them. Haven't used any other keyboard though.

I have a DT-35 and to be honest, it's terrible compared to my Filco Majestouch. Don't get me wrong, it's great for what it is, but it just doesn't stand up to a good mechanical keyboard and no rubber dome keyboard ever will.

Where are you buying from? I believe the the cheapest you can get a DT-35 for in the United States is $35+sh whereas the BW is like $70+sh (or $50+sh or $60 if Newegg or Fry's ever gets that deal again). If that is the case, then I highly suggest the BW, as the DT-35 can be bought for like $15 (I'ze seenz it with my own eyes!) on Taobao so you are getting much more value out of your money.

If not, then I would recommend go DT-35 or go Filco/Das/Rosewill/Leopold. One of the reasons why the DT-35 is so prized is because it is completely solid. BW? Not so much, with the macro keys, shifted function keys (seriously, who the HELL thought that was a good idea?), and the batches of keyboard that didn't turn out so well with multiple key presses. If you can get a DT-35 for a reasonable price (and I love StarCraft Mecca, but $35 is NOT a reasonable price for the keyboard), then I would go DT-35. If you absolutely love the mechanical aspect of the BW, then I'd say go for something better than a BW. You won't regret going the extra mile one bit, and you can laugh at the minority of BW users who absolutely regret getting it.

You can kill a bear with a stick, but i wouldn't advise trying it. But for an analogy on topic, I think some of them also used ball mice which i don't think anyone will touch for competitive play now days.

A lot of people stick with what they are used to despite being inferior because they are used to it. Swapping a mouse takes awhile to get used to for instance. Keyboards are too, to a lesser extent.

i remember nal_ra was using a ball mouse in the old boy series.

i used to play on rubber dome before i dug out an acer model m clone from the basement. can't go back now, mechanical is definitely the way to go for me.

Thx, I did do a lot of research about the Blackwidow. I was looking for more of a review that would compare it to the qsenn. In the end I just went "screw it, im getting the blackwidow".

Someone messaged me saying they got the white keyboard from me and since I didn't have any blacks he got the black from another site. After, he mentioned that the two keyboards felt different and that the white one had a much better feel. You can always order from somewhere else but at least with SCM you know your getting the authentic DT35. ^^
