Gmarket, Korea has a website where you can buy 2 types of Qsenn keyboards. At first I was ready to check out, thinking it was the DT-35, but then noticed it's the GP-k 5000 plus.
I hit back on my internet browser a few times and found the DT-35 in my "Qsenn" search criteria, and noticed "wow...it doesn't look as cool, and it doesn't have a small wrist rest on the bottom". These are good attributes to have right? Or is the wrist rest bad?
Since I have not been able to test out either of these keyboards in person, I have no idea if the wrist rest is good, and if it's a more comfortable, faster keyboard. The only thing I'm sure of is that the GP-K 5000 costs 2,000 more wan, and looks good in blue! Could someone who has tried the GP-k 5000 recommend it over the DT-35? Or is the DT-35 better? Or are they just about the same?
Also, I'm pretty sure this thread is ok to post since I couldn't find any threads commenting on the GP-K 5000.
thanks!

Hi, would you mind removing the link so the OP doesn't look like an advertisement?
|
That K 5000 sure looks interesting, but I think I'd stick with my DT-35. I've been using it about six months now and I'm not a fan of wrist rests. I highly doubt the keyboard is faster-- I highly doubt ANY keyboard could be significantly faster than the DT-35.

The link was removed. I look forward to more comments! Buying a keyboard is a big deal.

why would waste money on a membrane kb just because koreans use it? why not buy a real kb which will last for more than a year?
not trolling, genuinely interested why so many people practice false economy.

Koreans don't use mechanical keyboards? They are the best!

Because keyboards don't really matter, the greatest of the greatest champions won many of their OSLs and MSLs on these 5 dollar junk keyboards.

Don't you DARE call the Qsenn DT-35 a 'junk' keyboard! O.O
Best keyboard ever, I'm serious.

I secretly always wanted one so I could be like my favorite progamers but didn't have money when sc mecca put them up for sale .
EDIT:I HATE THIS BROWSER AT SCHOOL THAT DOESN'T CORRECT MY GRAMMATICAL AND SPELLING ERRORS.

There are some Chinese sites you can buy them from for like $20, but shipping can sometimes be intense. For me, it took $50 total. It was worth it.
|
If they weren't obscenely expensive to ship to Canada, I would totally buy 2 DT35s (one black and one white) and do that sweet checkerboard thing MKP and San do.
I looked up the GP-K 5000 and it looks fairly similar, but I still prefer the look of the DT35. They appear to be almost the same, but just a little different stylistically.
|
Would this not be suited more for the tech forum? Anyways they both seem like nice keyboards.

I got my dad to buy me three QSENN DT35s for about $10 (₩11000)each when my dad went to Korea for work. I swear, it's an amazing keyboard. I'm a pretty fast typer (500 characters per minute) and keyboards I used to have caused huge strains on my fingers. The DT35, however, is so easy to press on, and it clicks very nicely when I type. It's very fun to play starcraft with the beautiful clicking noises haha. I totally recommend it.

is it loud? i thought the Dt-35s had membrane
edit 2: hope this is okay to post but i dont think they are expensive...less than $30 bucks and free shipping.

I recently bought a DT-35 and soon after replaced my cherry mx blue mech keyboard with it. Its as good if not better than a mechanical keyboard imo, for a tiny fraction of the price. I have tried many keyboards, membrane expensive 'gamer' ones, and mechanical ones black/brown/blue. For the price, nothing beats the DT-35.
I'd like to additionally note that many pro gamers now use mechanical keyboards due to sponsorship. Have you seen the keyboards that the slayers team are mostly all using? (razer marauder)... poor guys.

If i remember correctly the dt35 is used in many pc bangs which also makes their lives easier. correct me if im wrong about the last part. I know that. But given that the SC2 guys, a lot of them at least are BW guys, and that they are changing, is it because they changed keyboards during the change from BW--->SC2. Though if you watch the GSL, a lot of BW guys still use the DT-35. (NaDa, MKP for example).

Does anyone have a Razer Blackwidow here? I'm debating between that and the Qsenn. I absolutely adore the Blackwidow's keys' response. Thing is that it costs anywhere between five to ten times the price of a Qsenn, and I have no way of testing a Qsenn.

Yes it is.
I find it appalling how so many underestimate the human brains ability to adapt, and adapt quickly. Just because you've used it for X amount of years doesn't mean it won't take less than a day to adapt to a new keyboard. Give it a day or two and you're back to your old form, and possibly even better since the new keyboard is supposed to be better than the old one.

There's a lot of hype around mechanical keyboards imo. Keyboards are just keyboards - if they're made half decent, I find them to be mostly on the same levels of quality.

But my question is: "WHY?" What makes DT-35's so popular amongst korean gamers? Is it just because that they are used to it when they transitioned over from BW?

Indeed. Before trying out a mechanical keyboard, I used a dirt cheap Dell SK-8115 for around 3 years before hundreds of hours of BF2 caught up to it and 4 keys died. From my understanding QXC the same keyboard. If I saw another one for cheap I would easily use it over my mechanical keyboard. The spacebars on them are much more comfortable than my 6GV2. And I don't make so many typos on them.
Ooh, I just found them online. 25 keyboards for 80 bucks.

I have a DT-35 and to be honest, it's terrible compared to my Filco Majestouch. Don't get me wrong, it's great for what it is, but it just doesn't stand up to a good mechanical keyboard and no rubber dome keyboard ever will.

Unicomp Customizer / IBM Model M is the best. Buckling springs are the only way to go.

I believe the the cheapest you can get a DT-35 for in the United States is $35+sh whereas the BW is like $70+sh (or $50+sh or $60 if Newegg or Fry's ever gets that deal again). If that is the case, then I highly suggest the BW, as the DT-35 can be bought for like $15 (I'ze seenz it with my own eyes!) on Taobao so you are getting much more value out of your money.
If not, then I would recommend go DT-35 or go Filco/Das/Rosewill/Leopold. One of the reasons why the DT-35 is so prized is because it is completely solid. BW? Not so much, with the macro keys, shifted function keys (seriously, who the HELL thought that was a good idea?), and the batches of keyboard that didn't turn out so well with multiple key presses. If you can get a DT-35 for a reasonable price (and I love StarCraft Mecca, but $35 is NOT a reasonable price for the keyboard), then I would go DT-35. If you absolutely love the mechanical aspect of the BW, then I'd say go for something better than a BW. You won't regret going the extra mile one bit, and you can laugh at the minority of BW users who absolutely regret getting it.

You can kill a bear with a stick, but i wouldn't advise trying it. But for an analogy on topic, I think some of them also used ball mice which i don't think anyone will touch for competitive play now days.
A lot of people stick with what they are used to despite being inferior because they are used to it. Swapping a mouse takes awhile to get used to for instance. Keyboards are too, to a lesser extent.

i remember nal_ra was using a ball mouse in the old boy series.
i used to play on rubber dome before i dug out an acer model m clone from the basement. can't go back now, mechanical is definitely the way to go for me.

I'd buy Qsenn DT-35 since it is so legendary and so many pros use it^^

Filco! all the way. :D or any other mechs.

I had an ABS M1, it's Alps mechanical keyboard. Not all mechanical are good for gaming.

just goto ebay and type DT-35 $25 for one not too bad. free shipping as well.

Thx, I did do a lot of research about the Blackwidow. I was looking for more of a review that would compare it to the qsenn. In the end I just went "screw it, im getting the blackwidow".
|
Someone messaged me saying they got the white keyboard from me and since I didn't have any blacks he got the black from another site. After, he mentioned that the two keyboards felt different and that the white one had a much better feel. You can always order from somewhere else but at least with SCM you know your getting the authentic DT35. ^^

I liked the mechanical feel and sound of the black widow but the offset F keys ruined for me. I cannot fathom why they did that.
I use this and I love it. I've dropped it and spilled stuff on it and its still fine; great for the price.
I would like a filco someday when I can afford one.

Which version did you get? the gamer or the standard one?
I don't see how mechanical switches can be worse than membrane in terms of typing feel...probably just placebo....??

I ditched my DT-35 long ago in favor of a Filco tenkeyless. I don't know what the appeal is for the QSENN as they are good for a cheap keyboard, but still a cheap keyboard. It's tough to change keyboards, even more so for the pros. Think switching from Standard to Grid.
If you're already going to switch keyboards, I can only recommend buying a proper mechanical keyboard from a well-known and established manufacturer. You can even grab one of the Pink Filco's that Check uses, or a metallic blue one that Tyler uses. They're the best in my most humble opinion, and I'm in love with how crisp the key timing is.

I bought a Cherry Blue switch keyboard, but kind of annoyed with the sound after a few months, so i started looking at browns I could buy meanwhile using my old membrane keyboard, figured I liked it a lot better.
