They use cherry blacks.

Thanks! I thought the 6gv2 used blacks, but wasn't sure.
Why is it that so many people prefer brown and blue switches over blacks? Are they better than blacks for RTS gaming, or are they just more popular?

Blacks don't give tactile feedback when the key is registered, but browns and blues do. Blues and browns are generally regarded as better for typing and non-FPS gaming. Some would argue they're better than blacks for even FPS gaming... There are plenty of people who are happy with blacks, but blue/brown/clear (the tactile switches) are pretty much objectively better for typing and RTS.

i have a 6gv2 and i wish it had brown/blues, and the damn shit + \ key sucks.
the blacks wear me out
|
Blue, although the clickyness for feedback sometimes is less practical when people are around in which case browns would be preferable.
I'd like to try the feel of reds though.
|
Cherry Blue or Buckling Springs (Clicky, tactile)
|
I had the Steelseries 6GV2 and a Das Keyboard Professional S...
The blacks on the 6G honestly gave me carpal tunnel. I couldn't play longer than like an hour without needed to rest my fingers. On the other hand, the blues have a much nicer activation feel. The blacks are supposedly the smoothest and easiest to press; however, with the design of the 6g, it seemed completely opposite.

You guys still looking for a mechanical keyboard are going to love seeing this:

Just wait until you see the price point for these magnificent boards. There are no other reasonable options after seeing these prices.

I used IBM Model M with buckling springs and a DasKeyboard with Cherry MX blues so far.
I can just tell you that it is absolutly fine to play RTS with blue switches... but still i am thinking about giving browns a try soon ... maybe gonna buy a Filco Majestouch :D

What exactly do you hate about them? Have you even given them a week to get used to it?
They are key switches. Its not magic that will make you type fast or give you higher APM.
I think you expect to much out of them...

because blue's the easiest to get, I do like to try on Black and Red

I think i might just hate the blackwidow because of the macro keys on the side? it messes up my typing like crap, like im a typer 127wpm, on that keyboard its gonna be like 50-60. And it seems to me that the keys are far apart as crap and the keys are more elevated on the top on the blackwidow. Since i am usually on a laptop keyboard that the keys are really close together and its all the same elevation. I heard that the leopold keyboard just came out, will that be good? I liked the key placements on the 6gv2 because i never got any typing errors, it just feels wierd to me because there is no tactile.
Should I give the leopold keyboard a go? Its only $100 on elitekeyboards for pre order atm Also do they accept non-verified paypals but with a spending limit on it?

Leopolds and Filcos are quite similar. Different keycaps, detachable USB cable, but overall they're pretty much the same high quality keyboard.
They feature a standard US ANSI layout, so no worries about having to deal with the misplaced "\" key or a large enter key.
Go with a Leopold once it comes out, it'll be the best value keyboard (taking over that of the Rosewill RK-9000) for your dollar.

Thanks alot dude for response, you know if they take unverified paypal but with a sending limit?
*EDIT* is there any difference with keycaps with letters and keycaps with no letters? besides the lettering and knowing what key it is

I currently use blue switches, but I think that brown switches would feel really nice as well.

Not sure about the unverified PayPal. Haven't dealt with EK before so I don't know what their take is on such transactions.
Difference between keycaps with and without prints are usually negligible. It's just your personal preference.
While I am a touch typist, I occasionally have to look down at the keyboard for symbols or when playing Starcraft to make sure I have my fingers set in the proper place. For those reasons alone I decided to get the printed keycaps.

you miss cherry ML mechanical switch. the BEST holy shit this is the stuff.
