My technique is almost exactly like Jaedong there. Mostly displacing mouse's center of gravity with fingers, but occasional smaller wrist movements when doing a big side-to-side correction.

But general use is always fingers displacing mouse.

*EDIT: What mouse does Jeadong use?

The people having wrist issues are usually the ones that use the wrist as a pivot point (often with a somewhat high sens requiring tensing sometimes), a lot of people use lower sensitivities without doing that. I'd actually say the healthiest sens for wrist is probably on the low end for some reasons, but not going to have that discussion atm

You jack up your wrist by putting pressure on it, it has nothing to do with sensitivity or using your wrist to pivot it has everything to do with how your hold the mouse. If your wrist touches your mousepad you're putting pressure on it and it's nerves you're also keeping it at a steep angle which is also bad for it.

The video above shows a fingertip grip and the person is putting their palm on the table which is less bad for you but not every mouse is compatible with such grips, it especially varies with hand sizes and longer mice tend to be harder to pivot with thumb and pinky/ring. Also by how little he's moving that mouse if the monitor is 1920x1080 i'd guess it's dpi somewhere around 1600.

It's a G9/G9x without any shell on which makes it very small. It's suitable for fingertip grip with small hands, because it's small and low profile. It's not that accurate of a sensor but rts players don't need 1:1 accuracy the technique is different click drags is very different from move then shoot it's much closer to shooting mid-swipe which doesn't need as much accuracy from the mouse but more reaction out of the player.

He's moving the mouse a LOT. Inches - i would guess closer to 600dpi than 1600. I have hand recordings playing osu at 640 and 800dpi and his movements are larger and more aggressive than mine at either setting - osu is 4 : 3 while starcraft 2 is 16 : 9, but it doesn't look anywhere near even 1000 to me

If your wrist is resting on your desk, you're not putting pressure on it, it's in a neutral state

Don't need, but it's still pretty high on the priority list IMO. A ~5-7% tracking variance is at the very least annoying. That means if you move 500 pixels (bit over a quarter of screen width) then you have a ~25-35 pixel variance in where you will land, which is more than the width of a marine and makes selecting one in a snap movement from that distance consistently literally impossible - unless you always move the mouse at a very precise speed, which is something that people shouldn't have to worry about. The tracking on that sensor is all over the place at 0 - 1m/s which is the speed range used for RTS play, it's essentially random variance (not acceleration/deceleration)

I think you're overestimating the size of that mousepad and his hand size there is barely any movement when you have to consider he has to be going at least half the screen distance constantly in his movement, as to hit the borders of the screen to adjust the camera. Ofc without video of what he's doing on screen it's guessing but 600dpi would require much more lifting than what was occurring.

People overestimate how much actual movement they are doing

0:50-0:55 is halfway across screen at 800dpi

he's not using 1600 but maybe 1k is believable because of how hard it is to judge

currently jaedong uses a razer abyssus and i remember him saying on stream once that he uses the default 1800 dpi setting.

here's a recent video (hsc x) of him:

looks pretty high as well, every long swipe is usually used to edge-scroll the screen.

In my opinion you should aim for the lower sensitivity possible while still being able to reach the corners of the screen without lifting your hand. You can easily do that on 800/1000 dpi even with small hands, I see no reason to go above unless you really can't get used to it.

On that sensor you need to use the 1800dpi native setting because the others suck; but people usually scale that down in the driver

i know this and you do, but i'm pretty sure he doesn't. he said he uses huk settings which is 6/11 and 51% with 1800 dpi. perfectly fine imho.

Many people don't understand the setting in the driver though, you need it at 10/10 for it to be 1.0x

I've seen many people think middle means 1.0, when it's actually 900dpi out of 1.8k

Spawn has higher perfect control speeds, g302 should allow you to adjust DPI in steps of 80 (~240-2k, +)

thanks I have the g302 at 720 Dpi 1920X1080 think the perfect control speed matters much for me and I should use the spawn instead ? Im really loving the mouse and I think theres a good chance that I will want to keep the 302 because it feels great

If you're trying to use 25cm+ for a 180 degree turn (or you're a very fast FPS player) i would start to consider the ~2.7m/s pcs on the 302 a problem. With less, it's much harder to hit those speeds. With games that rely on 2d pixel grid instead of turning camera like osu, sc2, league, desktop usage - i find almost all of my movement to be below 1m/s

At 800dpi on 1920x1080, the most you ever have to move the mouse is 2.4 inches (~6.1cm) but usually you move maybe 4cm - while in FPS, i'm pretty regularly moving 7-8x further than that, and it's much easier to accelerate the mouse to a higher speed if you're moving it further. That's the only time i made my deathadder 3.5g malfunction (the ~3.8m/s perfect control speed would considerably drop when the mouse was lifted slightly due to some, IMO, poor design decisions with the shell)

The Spawn is a very comfortable mouse and the buttons are really satisfying to click. However, the left side buttons, particularly the one closest to you, doesn't always seem to register properly. This may just be an issue with my mouse though.

Hm I never had this issue on mine.
Seems like the FK2 is basically a FK1 with a very slightly different shape? I would have loved omron switches :/
