Yeah I was thinking if 800 GBP, since you can buy maybe like 1000 USD worth of components with that.

Anyway, no use linking deals that expire in a week or whenever before you buy, so this is about as detailed as it's going to get for now.

edit: maybe I should've figured a fellow American is more likely to assume that no other countries exist (and post lazily with no spacing). -_-;;

I can give the general idea though, i5 2400, a h61, 8gb 1333-1600 cheapest, and eh for graphics card probably 7870 but not sure when those come out, then something like haf 912 and xfx 550 or whatever is decently priced

I'm guessing those are shitty Velociraptors? He's probably going to ask for around $600. At this price, you might as well just build a brand new one.

Its a pretty nice set up, all in all. If he bought it a hear and a half ago, he probably dropped near a grand on the parts for it.

If I was buying, if it was $300, I would be fumbling to get my wallet out of my pants, and if it was $800 I wouldn't touch it.

So somewhere around $500-$600
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The case and power supply are really nice though, you'd get some good upgradability out of them

Both are mediocre if anything, processor is really bad for gaming, ram and gpu are fine though. But calling that composition good is pretty outrageous as it's one of the worst compositions you could have for the money

The 6 core is a pretty silly investment for gaming, its true, but what else is particularly bad about the build?

You can get similar gaming performance and features for around $600 worth of new parts. It's enough to run SC2 pretty well on 1920x1080 ultra settings or so, though the graphics card can't handle very high graphics settings on some other games.

I feel like he may want to ask for a relatively high price because of the cost of some of the components: a relatively expensive yet poor-featured case most people would avoid these days, an aftermarket CPU heatsink you're probably not interested in, a power supply of mediocre quality that's overkill for the system (and overkill in this context is not desirable or helpful), and so on. i.e. the market value of some of the stuff is higher than the value of those things to you.

I really disagree if it's original Antec 900 and OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W. These are not really that good.

Can't run 1080p in ultra, he'd be massively CPU-capped. Funny thing is that even a G620 or in fact even G540 performs better in SC2 which means that you could buy a better configuration for SC2 for about 70 + 50 + 17 + 140 + 50 + 40 + 60 + 20 = 447$, wonder how you got 600

Well, I said similar gaming performance and features (was talking about USB3, SATA3, etc. on the motherboard, ability to have more stuff running in the background because of extra RAM), so that includes games that can actually use more than two threads. And the 1055T is probably overclocked some, what with the Xigmatek cooler being there. It's hard to estimate the hard drive price also, depending on what's needed.

Pretty sure something like G840 still outperforms 1055T even in games that can utilize a quad <_< 1055T is pretty awful. But yeah then you would add about 50 + 20 + 10 for i3 2100, usb3 and more ram, still staying at around 527

Also props for seeing that I indeed had only 4gb of ram there =P

any body know if this is legit?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-i7-2600-3-4-GHz-Processor-/130617687756?pt=CPUs&hash=item1e696bbecc#ht_500wt_1156

Thats 100 dollars cheaper...

And btw, if anyone has spare core(motherboard, CPU, GPU) computer parts that arent totally obsolete i would appreciate it. :D

0 Feedback. 2600k wasn't available during this holiday's Retail Edge so I highly doubt that's legit. If it was a 2700k at $200 than I'd give him more credibility.

If what is legit? a 2600 at 216 14 hours before auction ends? Why not?

Hey guys, I've decided to build a gaming computer from the ground up, but I'm pretty much a big scrub at this so I was recommended to ask you guys for some help.
Basically, I've not made a computer myself before and I'm not really updated on what parts to get what so ever considering today's computer market.

I'm also situated in Seoul, South Korea right now so I'm not entirely sure where to get the parts, but if you guys know of any good international websites please let me know.
Also, I'm going to ship these parts to Norway in 6 months so I don't need a supercomputer with a coffee machine, Swiss army knife and hairdryer attached if you know what I mean - I just need the very essentials for a good gaming computer.

Using the guide on the thread's front page I tried to answer as clearly as possible what I'd need:

- My budget is more or less max'ed at around 1200 USD. I could push it up to 1500 USD if need be.
- It's going to be exclusively for gaming. No photoshopping or video editing/streaming or any of that sort. I usually play at 1920*1080, but I can scale that down to 1600*900 if necessary.
- I'm most probably not going to overclock as I've never really done that before.
- My upgrade cycle is slow, so building on it over the years is definitely an option.
- I'd need an operating system; last OS I used was Windows XP. I've heard good things about Win7 though, thoughts?
- I just googled up on what CrossFire is and I'd definitely be interested in this.

If there's anything else that's needed I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you guys might have.

Thanks in advance!

I have $350 to spend and am in need of a gpu. Basically I'm wanting Skyrim on ultra and swtor on ultra at 1080p. I've went back and forth between 560ti, 560ti 448Core, 570, or wait until amd 7xxz series.

What would you do?

Would wait for 7xxx. Then probably a 560ti, then 570, then 560ti448(marketing term only, its actually a cut down 570). In that order.

Depends on the deal though, and the rest of the system. And well, a lot of things.

You want something like 2500k, asrock p67 pro3, 7950, 8gb 1600 ram, cheap dvd rw, some quality 500w+ PSU, some decent case and some heatsink like hyper 212+, freezer 13 pro, thermalright macho, xigmatek aegir, or whatever.

Don't think crossfire would be worth it right now but if 78xx comes out soon after 79xx then it'd be worth considering depending on the scaling.
