That could be why XMP works and trying manually doesn't, since XMP may well set those properly.
I know with my 930, I have to have Uncore multi at a minimum of 2x my RAM multi. You can set it higher for better performance, but raising it requires IMC voltage to go up.
Since VTT has to go up just for OCing as well, it can cause a nasty balancing act if you want to OC RAM as well, unless you're willing to pump stupid high voltages through the IMC.
That's actually why I'm running at CL6 1600 instead of CL9 2000 like my memory is rated for, the lower Uncore requirement keeps it in the safe VTT range.

Ok I took some screenshots to provide some better info
It crashed on these settings and also when vcore was set to over 1.4

Uhm, well, I love your motherboard. And you can actually check in EVGA's forums, there's probably some very solid guides for your motherboard, which always helps a bit.
I'd suggest shooting for 4.4-4.5 first though, and then try to tweak it up to the 4.7Ghz, once you get your CPU as high as it will go or as high as you want it, you can work on your RAM. Always go one at a time, though. Never at the same time. More variables is bad.
Since I haven't played with SB myself, all I can do confidently is parrot other people or point you in the right direction, as far as settings.

its like christmas in there.
I didn't expect leds going off everywhere, on the v8, as well as the msi hawk LEDs.
|
My PC is bright enough to read by. Literally. 5 Antec 2 way LED fans, a Tricool LED fan on my CPU cooler, and a sunbeam rheobus fan controller with LED knobs.
|
What do you mean by LED knobs? Can you control the LEDs (on/off) with the controller? I've been looking for something like this without having to "mod" the fans themselves.
Also, does anyone know if fans pluged directly into molex 1. work 100% and 2. do so right from startup.

Hey,
So I just finished putting together the parts for the PC and am running into a tiny road block.
When I hit the power button nothing happens.
I have double checked to make sure all the power cords are plugged in properly.
The cord is running power and the power supply is set to on.
Does anyone have any ideas before I disconnect everything and reconnect?
I have done basic computer stuff, like replacing power source, Graphics cards, RAM and other stuff to make me familiar with the inner workings of a computer. However this is the first time I have built the computer from scratch.
Any help would be appreciated.
When plugging in the power switch to the motherboard, the plug is two receptors and the book says that one should be negative and the other positive. Could it potentially be that I need to switch these two around?
|
Power switch header orientation does not matter. Orientation only matters for the LEDs.
Do you have both the 24pin and 8pin connectors plugged into the motherboard?
Is the power supply set to the 1 position?
Did you install the motherboard onto standoffs?

while im failing prime95 / BSODing at the lowest clocks ever..had some fun making a troll pictuire. Im pretty much kneeled down staring at the crt right now.

i have an (old) LGA 775 motherboard with an intel 1.8ghz duo core. I was planning to upgrade to an intel 2.7ghz or more. My question is should i do it? or should i just bundle a new motherboard + cpu? Keep in mind if i upgrade my mobo i will also have to upgrade my ram (currently have 4gb ddr2)
Price range 50-175
link to mobo if curious + Show Spoiler +http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188017

Even if i set the Vcore to 1.38 on bios, cpu-z never shows it going above 1.29V.
Its stable at 4.3 after 16 prime95 tests but failing at 4.5 after test 1

omfg fking thing blocking me was EVGA ELEET setting which I set to off initially cuz i was like "yeah wtf is this LOLOLOL"
In the end...evga trolling me.
It was hindering vcore from going above 1.29V

Sometimes (a lot of times), I've had CPU-Z show higher than my BIOS setting.

If you mean upgrade to an E5400 (dual core at 2.7ghz), then no it's not worth it, if you have $50-175 to spend.
You can afford to get an H61/H67 board, G620, and 4GB DDR3 1333 for about $150. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/66?vs=406
I think it would be worth it.

Sounds more like you were trolling yourself.

Lancool PC-K58 and Audio-Technica ATH-A700? What's the case on the left? Intellimouse optical are everywhere...

Just in case you overlook it, the link shows a Core 2 Duo at 2.5 GHz, better than whichever dual core you currently have at 1.7 GHz, so the real difference is bigger than the graphs show. If possible it may be worth getting something a little better than the G620, but that would be out of the budget.

I have the 24 pin connected. The mother board only has room for the 4 pin to power the CPU fan, perhaps I pluged into the wrong area? I could not find any 8 pin slots on the mother board.
Is the power supply set to the 1 position?
The power supply only has one switch that I can see the I/O and I have tried it on both settings.
Did you install the motherboard onto standoffs?
If stand offs you mean the brass things which keep the mother board off the case than yes.
|
The symbols you refer to as I/O is 1 for the on position and 0 for the off position.
There is a 4/8pin near the CPU socket that provides power to your CPU. If you don't have this plugged in than you won't be running a computer. If your motherboard has a tab covering 4 pins of the 8 than you only need a 4pin connector.

On the molex fans, yes and yes. The LED's on my fan controller only turn off if you have the fans or PC turned off, but the brightness adjusts with speed.

Hello!
I would like a build a new computer from a scratch my current one is able to barely run sc2 1v1 on lowest graphic settings. I need help with it because I have never build a computer myself.
Things I already have: keyboard, mouse, headphones and a screen. Also I have GeForce 9600 GT as a graphic card. It's the only non-ancient part of my computer.
What is your budget? - My budget is max 800-900 euros
What is your resolution? 1280x1024
What are you using it for? I wish to stream sc2. I play sc2 in the lowest graphic settings, also I will be running winamp and skype at the same time.
What is your upgrade cycle? 2+ years. That's why my starting budget is so freaking high
When do you plan on building it? As soon as possible.
Do you plan on overclocking? No.
Do you need an Operating System? Yes, windows 7 or Vista 64bit, whichever fits the budget.
Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? No.
Where are you buying your parts from? I'm from Europe, Finland, Tampere.
These are the nearby stores I found by searching the interwebs: http://www.jimms.fi/ http://www.mediakulma.com/ http://www.triosoft.fi/ http://www.verkkokauppa.com/
Ps. I know the pages are written in moon language so, "komponentit" means "components".
Plz ask if an answer wasn's good enough.
