THAT is a problem and a plague in the PC industry.
Auto overclocking? Not so much. Also 3D gaming is retarded. And you dont need a 680 to get benefits from 120hz monitor anyway.
Yeah, deliberately incompatible games suck. They hurt the majority of consumers more than anything. Hell, Dragon Age 2 was one of the reasons I no longer trust Bioware.

I never played Dragon Age 2 but holy shit that was a trainwreck. Saw it coming a mile wide since the preview screens of DA2. Everyone was yelling at them to not release such an awful looking game but they did it anyway.
Pffft, BioWare's been dead to me since Neverwinter Nights. On a side note, sometimes I get confused when people say "3D gaming" because it takes a while for me to imagine somebody wanting to do that, so I first think of 3D rendering vs. 2D sprite-based drawings.
GTX 680 was popular by reviewers because the end result was being faster in games, using less power, and making less noise than HD 7970. I don't see what's not to like, unless you need to do something that the 7970 is actually better at.

Oh, good, I'm not the only one who thinks of the difference between super mario and quake, rather than quake and headache mode, when that silly term is used.
I'd rather dump extra GPU power into better graphics or better resolution, not into making it physically painful to play the games.
Only gamers care about how well a graphics card plays video games. Im interested in what the card can do the other 16 hours Im not using it. Honestly I dont play games that require GPU performance very often, just whatever is trending and friends are playing.
Thats 244p for you folks. Yeah bet you are all super jealous I got a 7970 so I can play games in 244p. I bet it burns so good. Im drinking it in. So delicious.
I'd sound like all kinds of idiot to snark about what somebody uses their horsepower for, when the main purpose of my enthusiast setup is dicking around with it. I play every game I can on max settings, but most of the games I actually play regularly don't have tech demo syndrome.
Besides, <3 Medrea, especially when the one guy said you didn't know anything about PSU requirements for running multiple GPUs.
He was right though when it came to when I built it originally. I lucked the fuck out listening to someone else's advice and picked up a high quality gold PSU when it was on sale super cheap.
Then I came here and said something half jokingly half serious about PSU's not delivering their advertised wattage (my mistake was placing Antec too close to that statement) and SkyR really came down hard on me. So I decided to learn more, a lot more.
Most of the games I play require absolutely brutal amounts of skill, or at least have a place where its able to be displayed. At times this indeed requires a pretty incredible setup
Been having a problem with removing my old drivers
basicly i removed my hd6870's drivers, using driversweeper, but it doesn't want to get rid of everything... still have a bunch of stuff installed, don't know how to get rid of it TT
Of course it's causing mayhem with my gpu now it's in place..

damn second gpu on my gtx590 is always maxing out a 100% usage while the first is only at 40% in games like metro and sc2, but working flawlessly in crysis 2 though.... goign to test a few other games edit : seems fixed for metro now though, going to test out for sc2.... this seems so weird edit again : well everything seems ok even thoguh old AMD drivers are still installed but can't be uninstalled, beh, guess it's ok....
Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire?
Yes
Where are you buying your parts from?
Seattle, WA, USA, so Newegg or Fry's
I'm a noob at this stuff, so any help is appreciated
Come back when you plan to buy, as we can't predict future prices.
Let's say that I'm buying the parts today, then. I'm not getting it all at once, and I probably won't take too much longer than 2 months to buy everything.

try copying my build? seems like my budget is about the same as yours, and so is our usage for it. i'm new to this stuff too, but i may overclock in the future. I'm not going to be using SLI or crossfire though.
i dont have a dvd burner or case there. if you're streaming a lot you might want to up the CPU to i7, and if you're not overclocking get a cheaper motherboard.
Hey guys, about to make a new rig, and just wanted opinions on the parts I chose. If anyone sees anything here that might not be the best option, let me know please:

Really want to get a computer that can adequately live stream SC2 at 480-720p quality (have 2.5mb ul internet). Anyone see issues with my build?
Thanks for any help you guys can provide =)
Closed loop water cooling is horrible. I urge you to reconsider. Aside from that, meh, you can save some money, whatevs. What do you need 16GB of ram for anyway?

Can you explain why closed loop is horrible? As for the RAM, I'll probably scale it back to 8GB and either save the cash or re-allocate it elsewhere. My budget pre-tax is ~$1400-1500.
