EDIT: Tests are done with an H100 by the way, to put the temperatures in perspective.

It looks like for a moderate OC, the VRM and cooling requirements may be even lower than for Sandy Bridge, since power consumption is low. The issue with temps is partially because of how small the chips are, particularly if you look at the area taken up by the CPU cores and not the relatively large IGP. That's a lot of heat produced in a very small area.

EDIT: I dunno the 4ghz scares me a bit since i run my sandy bridge at 4.0 @ about 1 volt and Im quite a bit below 55C. And I am using a hyper 212 as well. But yeah the shit doesnt hit the bed until enthusiast levels anyway. I also want to see how much the perks of Ivy bridge add up to being.

I dunno is there a side by side benchmark? How can we tell if not?

If you're really worried about high OCs safely, you shouldn't be looking to save $10, you should just be putting the extra money into buying an EVGA card so that you can RMA it after anything that doesn't cause physical damage to the card. "Hey, I tried opening my card up to repaste it, I tried downclocking it all the way to your stock levels, and it's clean, but it's overheating. Can I start an RMA?" "Yeah, no problem." I recently had this conversation. Love those guys.

I overclocked it from 3.3 to 3.6 Ghz without a problem. I put in the SSD and brought over two SATA hard drives from my old computer, as well as the dvd-r. My windows experience rating is 7.5 out of 7.9! XD

XD I hate to say this, but Windows Experience rating is a pile of trash. Mine is also a 7.5 out of 7.9. Just to give you an idea how entirely garbage it is for telling you anything functional about your system. Liking your SSD much? Great for slow-loading software.

plan is a i5-2500k setup. will decide between a 560ti 448,570 and the 7870 cards depending on price when i buy. will keep old hdd and ssd and get a random 50€ psu with good reviews. what i need help with is a) mobo . wont run any sli/crossx stuff, just want a decent quality board thats fine for overclocking. had around 300€ in mind for cpu + mobo, with the 2500k currently around 180 that leaves 120. b) case. thats a hard choice for me since i never really cared. willing to spend around 100€ on it. looks arent that important (as long as its not some military crap design) . quality ,features and if possible some silent stuff is what im lookin for. will overclock both cpu and gpu so airflow should be decent aswell.
