But the World vote definitely has a bitter taste now and if someone like Reynor or Heromarine gets screwed, it will really suck.

At least if Scarlett doesn't get the spot, you know Elazer is gonna deliver a similar / better performance. (if Reynor loses though I doubt any of Elazer/Scarlett will deliver as good performance as he would have...) However I don't see Kelazhur perform as well as HeroMarine at all, so I really hope nothing crazy happens in the terran pool too. Iirc the last time Kelazhur was getting good results were during the reaper/ByuN era.

The "in-scene" Korean campaigning feels very natural and the way it should be with such a vote going on - in fact, as someone who always has disliked popular votes for tournaments the Korean engagement really jumped out very positively to me. But this race right here with the external interference just shows everything that's wrong with the system.

For Elazer, well, he might have won his ticket this time, but I'm sure he has also lost something else on the way.

I kind of agree with Elazer in a sense here. It’s been an issue with SC2 since forever, not just votes but also invites have always skewed to existing favourites, giving them more exposure, more invites and thus the cycle continues. Even talk shows followed this pattern but to the scene’s credit I feel they do a much better job giving lesser known folks a shot. Elazer winning based on who he knows is unfair, to me Elazer will perpetually lose a fair vote to Scarlett, who has benefitted as much as anyone in SC2 history by virtue of being a fan favourite. Despite not being quite GSL level the WCS Circuit is a real enthralling tournament to watch because it’s completely meritocratic, you don’t need a team to fly you somewhere on a slim chance of even breaking even, you don’t have to rely on invites. And we’re seeing new and exciting talents breaking through there. I felt this being so vote dependent was a step in the wrong direction of having a clear pathway for aspiring players. Get better on the ladder, try to qualify for WCS, try to do well enough in WCS and you get a shot at taking down Korea’s best or going to Blizzcon.

This can't be stated enough, while the system sucks and Blizzard should've changed it, the players should do everything they can and can't be blamed at all. Even if Reynor drops out, you should not give up your spot Elazer!

The foreign team house in Korea did a 24h stream but that frankly did more work in campaigning for TY than it did for any of them.

Scarlett sort of did when the foreign team house did their 24-hour stream, but other than that I think big Gabe is the only one foreign player actually campaigning like the Koreans are doing
