Not to mention he was repeatedly knocked out in the early regional qualifiers, so he had to attend the local qualifier. I shed in tears during his interview. Someone got to tell me that is not any shame.

Very emotional and well-deserved win for soO, even Smix was barely able to hold out her tears during the interview. Dude wins 2 starleagues and we call him a Kong?

Surely the streets of Korea will be filled with celebration as its champion returns in glory. Many people are already expecting the reunification of the country in a swelling of pride over soO's achievement. And the return of proleague.
Lol korea darkest hour = 2 non koreans total making it thru open brackets .....for 75% korean field from ro24....all korean ro4. From the looks of things in terms of skill Korea doing just fine.

Such an emotional post match interview with Smix, really touched me! Congrats soO, well-deserved. As he mentioned he said it will probably be one of his last events outside of Korea due to being need to go to Army soon. So thankful he was able to do that in front of a huge crowd <3

I don't think anything will top this in 2019. One of the most emotional championship wins in StarCraft II I have seen.

Most emotional finals ever in my eyes. And Im watching sc2 since day1. The perseverance he has showed through the years is something special.

Winning IEM is a very very great achievement. I highly respect Soo for his hard work and skill. However, how is beating Serral an achievement? Soo is just stomping another foreigner on a luck streak. People are acting like Serral is the next Stephano.

Lol k somebody forgot to take their pills this morning.
It is pretty sick tho that the 2 series serral dropped in iem (soo/inno) were vs 2 players from Korea who didnt even qualify for blizzcon..2 out of ro4 also(add herO). If that doesnt highlight the stupidity of region lock then im actually convinced literally nothing will.

I am so so happy for soO, but man its gotta feel hard for Stats to now have lost two iem katowice finals, I know he can bounce back!

Congrats! Here's to a great 2019 for soO - NO ONE more deserving of this win than him

one type of heroes is those who looks indestructible, unbeatable. they are like gods, and you find yourself want them to continue pushing forward, a living "one punch man". maru and serral incredible runs last year felt like that, at least to me.
the opposite type are the human heroes- those who stumble and fall, and get up again and again. they are fragile, even flawed at times, and in them you can see yourself and your everyday struggles. unlike the former type, you keep hoping for them to get up and fight because if they succeed, maybe you can too.
i love both types of heroes: the first type leaves me awe inspired. but the second stirs up my insides, inviting me to join their emotional journey, and shed some tears in the process. so soO, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Man...I feel so great for soO. To be honest I didn't believe that he will able to beat Stats, but he did it!!! And with no nydus abuse :-)
That's a beautiful story. IEM always delivers. Very, very happy for soO. He was always one of the greatest Zergs and now at last he gets his award and confirmation. And when i saw his tears I almost cry myself as a baby. Something beautiful. GG soO!!! Great Tournament!

Yeah, I would love to have some darkest hours like Korean Starcraft.

Just watched the vod of the finals. Was there a reason why they kept cutting to the player cam right as the game was ending and they type GG?
