Today we're releasing a balance patch that affects the Marauder, Raven, and Viking. To learn about the thinking behind these changes, check out our latest community update. The following changes are now live, including bug fixes for the current Versus Ladder map pool.

Terran
  • Raven
  • Anti-Armor Missile initial and splash damage reduced from 30 to 15.
  • Auto-Turret cast range increased from 1 to 2.
  • Marauder
  • Punisher Grenade attacks reduced from 2 to 1.
  • Damage of each attack increased from 5 (10 vs Armored) to 10 (20 vs Armored).
  • Upgrades will provide +1 Base and +2 Armored.
  • Level 0: 10 (20 vs Armored)
  • Level 1: 11 (22 vs Armored)
  • Level 2: 12 (24 vs Armored)
  • Level 3: 13 (26 vs Armored)
  • Viking health increased from 125 to 135.



Bug Fixes

Maps

(Wiki)16-Bit LE – Restored missing doodads, terrain, and pathing in the northwest area of the map.
(Wiki)Backwater LE – Fixed an issue where structures in water would have their ripples seen through the Fog of War before the structure itself was in the enemy player’s vision.
(Wiki)Darkness SanctuaryLE – Adjusted the terrain at the ramp of the natural expansion to allow wall-offs.
(Wiki)Redshift LE – Adjusted how creep appears for better visibility against snow terrain.


Thank you again to those that have provided us with constructive feedback and helped us make StarCraft II the great game that it is. wow! that's a lot of changes.... I wonder how the Ultralisk will perform with these kind of alterations

Will be interesting to see how this plays out in the pro level. Terran late game is obviously much worse, but their mid game is a lot better and we may be able to not force a map split every game on large maps now.

I'm a little confused about how this is a buff for the Maurader.

It's getting 1 attack instead of 2, but doubling the damage? Isn't that the same?

the higher the number of attacks, the more times the armor of your enemy's units is applied

No it's not the same, 1 armor would reduce 20 damage to 19 with one attack, with two attack animation it would be 18.

Now it looks like a minor change, but you can count how much time a marauder would take killing ultra having two attacks and one in comparison

pretty sure this change (when every one is 3/3 researched) makes the marauder go from needing:

32~ shots to kill an ultralisk

to 24~ shots to kill an ultralisk. anyone who understands upgrades feel free to chime in, i used

500/(26-10)
500/(26-5)

not sure this is exactly right but it feels about right.

w plating

500/(26-14) = 42~ hits
500/(26-7)= 27~ hits

can any one confirm? this seems like a massive change

In my qualifying match yesterday the Vikings felt a little bit more study against a Protoss that went for quick-carriers. They didn't feel OP, but definitely had a little bit more lasting-power.

Yes they now trade even with a small number of Carriers provided that the Carrier are not supported by any splash units.

I recently switched to Terran after playing Toss for years.
I thought I was imagining things when I said "wow, is Toss really this OP?"

I think they said it was only in Versus Multiplayer, not in Co-Op.
