It was the only way to have an American champion.

But we all knew that was coming someday. We're at that point, the future looks rather dire. I hope 2018 isn't the last year we enjoy pro sc2... Let's enjoy what we are given though, this GSL should offer a great deal of excitement !

BTW two days later, IEM Shanghai global qualifier will occur, don't forget to check what will happen there between foreigners and Koreans.

Agreed, either both regions are region locked or everything is open.
Current system is just unfair.

We will see Scarlett and the rest of the players that are in Korea, but would've loved to see more EU players vs Koreans :/.

When you watched WCS Austin or Jonkchoping werent you proud of foreiners and didnt u wonder how well would these guys do against koreans?
Major, Scarlet, Elazer... Neeb, Nerchio, Serral.. their skill level, mechanics and the understanding of SC2 is very very good! They dont make many mistakes like foreiners used to do.. Why cant they compete with the best all of the sudden?? SC2 is not a hobby for them anymore but the real job to get money from.
And Koreans.. are just Koreans lol. They are humans just like everybody else. They were and still are just as good as before. They take esport very serioously just like foreiners these days.
Anyhow, Im soooooooo happy that 5 foreigners made it to GSL S. Im pretty sure more would if they decided to play the qualifariers. Is there anyone who says that Serral, Kelazhur, Nerchio, Snute is not GSL code S progamer?? If they are that good, why the stupid region-lock then?
Also, it is not just a problem with foreigners in GSL but NoRegret in GSL Code S! I don't even know what to say.

So don't expect many foreigners outside of Korea to try.

I think Nerchio wants to give it a try but the ping is just too much from EU so he doesn't hold his breath for it. I'm sure others foreigners in KR will try. I know Elazer will for sure.

If the qualification is only played on KR server, then Koreans have massive advantage to qualify unless IEM invites few foreigners. So I don't think IEM Shanghai is a good chance for foreigners.

Wasnt the only source of income for foreigners the tournamets dominated by Koreans few years ago? wasnt it the main reason for foreiners that they took SC2 and e-sport as a hobby?? how can u live and provide for yourself (dont mind your familly) if all of the money Koreans grabbed because they had estabished team houses and so on and so forth?

For how long there was no Region lock?? Blizzard wants to see competition between everybody not only KR vs KR. For that you gotta pump some money just to make ppl want to play sc2 and become progamers.
People complain that GSL is the only source of money for progamers from korea and now foreigners advancing to GSL take that opportunity from real sc2 korean progamers... LOOL just LOL. Couple years ago it was complate opposite but i guess u guys already forgot about it.

Wow, for GSL you said about the best players should advance, and for WCS you said Blizzard doesnt want to see all Korean vs Korean. What an argument ! So tell me what the hell you are considering ? Skill level or nationality ?

Well if what you said is true then the foreign scene does not deserved to be called 'pro scene' If you are gonna make such excuse, then treat your league as rural amateurs league.

Do you know the meaning of professional scene? The better player always deserve to take all the money and trophy. It is not only about nationality. Koreans or foreigners whoever it is, the best player deserved to get all the money and trophy. The region lock system is a shameful system.
