At this point I won't blame Hot6 if they decide to terminate their sponsorship of the GSL. The Korean professional scene simply lacks the number of skilled players necessary to populate it.
Not to mention there's little financial point in advertising an exclusively-Korean energy drink to foreign audiences.

HSC isn't part of WCS. Take refused to do it because if he wanted to get the Blizzard cash he'd have to have held a WCS Circuit event, which bans Koreans that don't wait 9 months for a visa.

HSC either :
- Does not give WCS point (therefore isn't under WCS rules, HSC XIV).
- Or when it did (HSC XIII), it only had TRUE, who has a visa.

But as Korean you dont just have to have a tourist visa, but :
Residency requirements stay the same
The residency requirements for WCS Circuit remain the same as last year. Players will need proof of citizenship, permanent residency, or an appropriate visa in order to compete and earn points in the WCS Circuit. A minimum number of ladder games in the home region will also be required. The full details will be forthcoming in the WCS 2017 Rules. And on the WCS Korea side, any player can compete.

The region lock is stupid, so much is true, but arguing "there is region lock in wcs so there should be one in gsl" is many levels of stupidity above it. You should be happy that there is a place without the idiotic rules instead of trying to have them everywhere for "fairness".
