It's completely bullshit that WCS is regionlocked but GSL not. sc2 is already not very healzhy in korea and now they prevent the lower-tier players from getting paychecks. If sc2 in korea dies it's because of blizzatds poor decision-making. I actually agree that GSL should be region locked or that people should have to chose between WCS Korea and the WCS Circuit. But I firmly believe this is not Blizzard's decision and the GSL wants foreigners competing in Korea for the hype. +1, players like noregret or scarlett send players to retirement just for their pleasure of losing in ro32 while they can play WCS circuit, it's absurd If Zest and Myungsik retire on the back of these losses to Scarlett, it's because their play hasn't been as good, straight-up. Maybe if they had kept the old kespa teams, they'd still be in shape (though I'd give Scarlett a chance if all three players were in their top form -- peak skill Scarlett was phenomenal), but that's not the reality we're living in. We all want to think of Zest as that incredibly "crisp" player who made victory look easy so much of the time, but it's been a while since we've seen that from him. If players like this had made it into the tournament instead of foreigners, and still played like they did, I feel like I'd still be reading complaints on here because of the play level drop-off. I don't understand this logic. When koreans lose to foreigners it's "they could have played better, their fault" but when foreigners lose to koreans it's "koreans preventing the local scene to grow, ban them!" If your arguing that the best players should qualify, then that should also apply to WCS. GSL is the highest level of Starcraft and should be open to everyone, whereas other tournaments such as WCS can focus on goals like fostering local scenes etc. While Korea needs tournaments to foster the lower strata of their competitive scene, GSL isn't it. I wouldn't complain if korea had tournaments for the lower-tier players.

Reminder that a Korean who wants to move their life to another country for months on end, like the foreigners are in the GSL, could also compete in WCS.

Unfortunately it's the only one that has a chance of being 'it'. Realistically it's the only one that pays well enough (just for qualifying) to make trying to be a progamer worth your time.
