Well, it wasn't as good as it is now when it was first introduced in the beta.

Its still humorous. It would be like if you found a season 1 GSL vod with tasteless and artosis shitting on the broodlord or infestor.
Cool list. Is there any way you could aggregate the stats by map as well? I saw a lot of Vaani and that may make it for future map makers to look for features of maps which produced generally good games.

Funny how a map many people weren't really that fond of produced 5 games that ended up in TL's top 40 games. Still, I'm not sure this is actually that helpful for map makers in LotV atm. Like, there have been great LotV games on not so great maps.

What foreigner games do you think should be on here that aren't?

Thanks for this, I missed the first 2/3 of 2015 so almost all of these games I'm watching for the first time.
One criticism - this list seems to be very, very heavily skewed towards games that simply deviate from the norm. I'm on #33 right now (ByuL vs Leenock on Expedition Lost) and this is the first non-T game I've come across that I would consider for a best games list. Like for instance, Losira vs Armani base trade was utter shit for the first 20 minutes, Roach v Roach into "AMAZING FUNGALS!" And then there's a pretty tense base trade which was fun... but... I mean... it's Roaches. Roaches, guys. You click a spot on the map and then they go there and then they fight there. Am I missing something? You pick a TvZ or TvT blindly, at random, from any point in 2013 or 2014 (can't speak for 2015) and there's a solid chance that it's a better game than this one... same exact story with Rogue vs Shine. Was 2015 just that shit a year for Terran games?
Hopefully the ones higher on the list have more to offer than just being different/featuring a base race.
P.S. #39 Classic vs INno only has half (?) of the game, then the observers have to leave due to lagging up the game.

I'm sure this can't possibly be your terran bias shining through, can it?
More seriously, just speaking for me rather than everyone else who contributed, I think that to some degree it's natural that there's some element of 'being different' that elevates good games to great games. I mean, Dream vs Life on Overgrowth obviously ticks every box while being relatively orthodox for the most part, so it's not that a game has to be weird to be fun, but there's got to be something to differentiate it from the rest. Sometimes, that will be just extraordinarily good standard play, and sometimes it'll be the little things which tilt a game off course and make it special.
That said, I also think that ZvZ in 2015 in general was a genuinely solid matchup, and it's the first time ever that I've enjoyed ZvZ outside of a few exceptional cases (ling-bane in 2012 mostly). Roach vs roach gets a bad rep, but sometimes it leads to something fun rather than just 1a-ing.

Full game is here (chinese cast) - I should edit this in.

I agree. it's not like one map sticks out with the best of the best games. it's more about the combination of players matched-up and the general circumstances. and some players make for entertaining games no matter on which map (like Has ^^). some maps are more fun to play, while others are extremely fun to see people suffer from playing on them, haha

IIRC pretty much all zergs complained the infestors were useless during early WoL, until Blizzard (slightly?) buffed their aoe spell and they actually started using the unit. Then everyone realized they were "kinda op", so it had to be nerfed again lol
"The best game of 2015" is just an example of Life's absurd stubbornness when it comes to being ahead. From a "best game of the year", I would expect feelings of joy, suspense and awe. This game makes me mostly angry. At any time during the "relentless attacks" he could have comfortably teched to hive (because he was light years ahead and under zero danger) and good luck to dream dealing with any number of ultras, even though it's not LoTV. He could have even made some BM Broodlors and won.
I don't know, I just don't like these kinds of games that are "great" just because one player does something stupid.

Recognize that this is Dream v Life not Inno v DRG. These relish in choas and non stop aggression. That isnt to say life can't go hive but he is most comfortable doing what he did. Besides if he backed down, he knew dream drops would make it hell to get hive tech up. Then most likely dream would have secured at least a third, and the hive may not have helped as much. Of course this is all theory, but I don't necessarily think going hive was 100% the correct play. The game was good because of dream's furious tenacity and risk taking in the face of elimination.

I know who the players are, but in this case, Life's insistence on being himself led to his downfall I believe. Observe how many resources has he thrown away in futile attempts to finish the game. Surely, most other terrans would have folded, but Dream, at that time at least, was kinda expected to show a performance like that. Drops can be defended, in particular when the dropping player is broke as shit.
I just don't really enjoy games when the reason for hair pulling is "why the hell does he do that" that much.

That's Life, his killer instinct isn't 100 % solid. It works for nice 90 %(maybe a little bit more)
