YoDa, B4, Gerrard arrested for match-fixing - Page 8

Based on the official Police investigation, only the above players have been implicated in matchfixing. There is no reason to further accuse other players and teams until we get more information. Incessant blind accusations will not be tolerated. Please read the thread and the updates before posting.

As of page 54 we will be moderating against match fixing accusations for players who were not caught in this incident, including those using voided Pinnacle bets as evidence.

I doubt it, since he would probably have been lumped in with Yoda and Gerrard.

Wouldn't be terribly surprising. As a Prime player he's already suspect. Given he's the only one who hasn't publicly left the team already that's even more damning

TL admins closed that threat shortly after and gave me a bullshit answer that pinnacle did not void the bet and that there would be no point talking about it. It is really sad how censorship is back in so many places. Even here in a TL forum where you least expect it the admins decide what is worthy to discuss and what not.

Can you tell me where someone from TL told you that? I don't see it anywhere in the thread.

Sure i can post the pm:

Hi, we the moderators have decided to close this thread do people posting matchfixing accusations, going into offtopic discussion, and with nothing new coming of it, it seems pointless to keep this discussion going, if there is new information revealed a new thread will be created

Original Message From StarGalaxy:
Hey,
why did you close that thread?

I provided solid information and i don't see a reason why there shouldn't be a discussion about it.
best regards,

Pinnacle didn't cancel the bet though. Sharing it in the LR might not be good of an idea either(big shitstorm), I don't see anything wrong with posting it in blogs though, i'll see what some of the other moderators think

Original Message From StarGalaxy:
well i provided new information from todays pro league match in this post:
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/starcraft-2/476033-pinnacle-voids-dark-vs-san-bets-due-to-match-manipulation-concerns?page=52#1034

You showed another line with weird movement - esports is a small world and weird movement is not that unusual - and then said "It is very likely that the match between Yoda and Bunny was match fixed today," implying your knowledge from seeing one thing is more than Pinnacle's information (a site who has shown ability and interest in canceling suspicious activity before). I don't think it's fair to say this is enough new information to keep that thread open, it was a long going thread with tons of mud slinging based on incredibly light evidence with accusations that serve to do nothing but tear down possible innocent people - Plexa's example of SangHo is on point. This is not some 1984 scenario.

Doesn't say 11 players. Just 11 people. One of whom we already know isn't a player. (Gerrard never played a match, he's just been a coach.)

So far, for people who have been named, it's been 50-50 player/non-player.

Over the past half hour or so it has emerged that 11 players (unclear if SC1 or SC2) have been indicted for match fixing. That is very troubling, and I hope the players will be brought to justice.

What's equally troubling though, and here I'm singling out Nathanias is that some e-sports "personalities" have already taken to Twitter with inappropriate comments:

I have no sympathy for the alleged cheaters whatsoever, but I'd like Nathanias to get off his high horse here. SC2 personalities in particular - due to their (sometimes undeserved) large followings have a special responsibility to be moderate and even-handed in their public comments. Or they might as well apply for a job at Fox News.

Especially when all that's known at this point is that there seems to be a scandal. Already calling for draconian punishment when really there aren't any facts on the table yet in my opinion is character assassination.

At least wait until the names of the players are released, and more details about their actual or alleged crimes are given.

Therefore, even if only to protect my own image as a competent commentator of the Starcraft scene, Nathanias shouldn't rush to Twitter all that quickly.

I kind of wish you could downvote posts on here. lol

Why are you upset about what Nathanias said? 11 people (don't know how many players) were cheating and damaging the integrity of the scene, and now they're getting their just desserts for breaking the law.

It's no coincidence that those getting in trouble are those with nothing to lose. A struggling organization with decent but not top players desperate for sponsors and needs to get money somehow fell into the match fixing trap. I have a bit of sympathy, but honestly better to leave esports then to get by in this way
