YoDa, B4, Gerrard arrested for match-fixing - Page 7
Forum Index > SC2 General |
Based on the official Police investigation, only the above players have been implicated in matchfixing. There is no reason to further accuse other players and teams until we get more information. Incessant blind accusations will not be tolerated. Please read the thread and the updates before posting. As of page 54 we will be moderating against match fixing accusations for players who were not caught in this incident, including those using voided Pinnacle bets as evidence.

Unfortunately when it comes to these kinds of accusations they can be career ending/severely damaging. The research conducted in that thread wasn't going to influence whatever happened in the Korean scene, the authorities would be conducting their own investigations into the matter. Sangho/Killer was one of those caught in the crossfire of the last major match fixing scandal. Despite being completely innocent, the community thought he fixed a famous game on Outsider (because of how he blundered away a virtually won game). This ultimately lead to his retirement from BW. This is the damage false accusations can have, and hence why we closed the last thread. I am aware that is is a very serious issue. That's the reason I put a lot of effort without any gain for me personally into a post to inform the public. I was careful not to make proofless allegations. Bettors were getting screwed over by fixed matches and I had the knowledge already. I thought this was something people should know about. It was not intended for the koreans authorities as I had no solid proof other than a sound analyis that showed something wrong was going on. I am also aware that it was possibly damaging for the involved players but even with that possibility I think it is always better to discuss it than to sweep it under the carpet.

He may have just been the winner against a player who was involved without knowing about any shady stuff Inno vs Super. It was a Bo5. The shady line was on the first game for Inno to lose, which happened. Inno then won the next 3 games in a row. This means that Inno could actually have been involved at betting against himself and deliberately throwing first game, then just killing Super and advancing on. Obviously this is only speculation, and we'll find out the full list in 49 mins. All I am saying is that the evidence around that particular match actually does not look so good for Inno.

All I am saying is that the evidence around that particular match actually does not look so good for Inno. this sounds mostly correct but I am almost positive it was a Bo3, and Inno went LWW, and someone bet pretty strongly knowing he would lose the first map. even still, if you told me Inno didn't throw it and there were some other strange circumstances that account for the betting, I'd believe you. Hell, even if Inno did throw the map, I bet he's not named in this indictment.

I did some analysis some time ago: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/starcraft-2/476033-pinnacle-voids-dark-vs-san-bets-due-to-match-manipulation-concerns?page=52#1034 TL admins closed that threat shortly after and gave me a bullshit answer that pinnacle did not void the bet and that there would be no point talking about it. It is really sad how censorship is back in so many places. Even here in a TL forum where you least expect it the admins decide what is worthy to discuss and what not. That was very impressive analysis by the way.

revtiberius.blogspot.com Over the past half hour or so it has emerged that 11 players (unclear if SC1 or SC2) have been indicted for match fixing. That is very troubling, and I hope the players will be brought to justice. What's equally troubling though, and here I'm singling out Nathanias is that some e-sports "personalities" have already taken to Twitter with inappropriate comments: ![]() I have no sympathy for the alleged cheaters whatsoever, but I'd like Nathanias to get off his high horse here. SC2 personalities in particular - due to their (sometimes undeserved) large followings have a special responsibility to be moderate and even-handed in their public comments. Or they might as well apply for a job at Fox News. Especially when all that's known at this point is that there seems to be a scandal. Already calling for draconian punishment when really there aren't any facts on the table yet in my opinion is character assassination. At least wait until the names of the players are released, and more details about their actual or alleged crimes are given. Therefore, even if only to protect my own image as a competent commentator of the Starcraft scene, Nathanias shouldn't rush to Twitter all that quickly.
