It's what you've all been waiting for! It's time for a new round!
Round 1 will forever be remembered for the collapse of Flash and Solar, but Round 2 is a brand new chance for the players to make a name for themselves in SC2's premier team league. We've had a few roster changes ( Life to KT) since the finals, and some of these moves could shake up the hierarchy of SPL.
After the chaos of Round 1, will this round bring more familiar trends and streaks? Or will things continue to be unpredictable? It's another round of FPL and everyone's back to zero.
Here are some important facts to know going into the new season:
- Week 1 starters and maps will be announced... tomorrow, probably. Or soon. Probably.
- Round 2 will be the standard Proleague format. See the scoring section for more info.
- You can find more info about scheduling here
- Matches will be played Mondays and Tuesdays.
- There will be 7 weeks of play.
- Trading a team now incurs a -1 trade tax penalty.
- Joining a group is now available from the group standings page (so you can link people to your group).
- You can find the final Round 1 rosters here
How to Play
- You choose 6 players and 1 Pro Team that score you points when they play well.
- You pick 3 players for your Anti-team as well. You lose points when they play well.
- Players and teams can be traded between weeks for those valued less than them.

Team Selection
Main Team + Show Spoiler [Click to Show] +- Pick 6 players for your Main Team, including a captain who will be a tiebreaker
- Pick 1 Proleague team (i.e. MVP, CJ, SKT, etc.)
- You cannot trade your captain (more on trading later)
- Your 6 players and 1 Proleague team cannot exceed 30 points in cost
- Your Main Team must contain at least one of each race at all times
Anti Team + Show Spoiler [Click to Show] +- Pick 3 players for your Anti Team
- These players score points like Main Team players, but their score counts against you
- Your Anti Team must have a value of at least 13 points (minimum)
Basic Team Selection Strategy + Show Spoiler [Click to Show] +- Pick players for your Main Team who you believe will exceed their point value from before (underrated or rising players)
- Pick players for your Anti Team who you believe will do worse than they did previously (overrated or slumping players)
- Designate as Captain a player who you believe will be a lock to be good throughout the season, because you can't trade him
Trading
Trading Rules + Show Spoiler [Click to Show] +- Each week you can trade players (swap a player for someone you don't have)
- Every player has a trade value, and you can only trade for players of lower value
- You will be limited to a maximum 2 Main Team and 1 Anti Team trades per week
- Trades do not carry over if unused
- Each time you trade, your team will be assessed a -1 point trade tax
- Trading teams will incur a -1 trade tax
Basic Trading Strategy + Show Spoiler [Click to Show] +- Check lineups each week! Players facing weak teams are generally more valuable.
- Don't make trades just for sake of making trades, as they cost you trade tax points and you may get stuck with a player you don't want
- The trade price formula takes into account number of matches remaining -- so players with more matches remaining will have higher prices
- You must trade for players with less value, but try to minimize the value loss. For example, if you trade someone worth 30 for someone worth 20, next week you can only trade the 20 for someone less. It's much better to trade the 30 for someone worth 29.
Groups
You will be able to create and join groups so you can compare your results with a smaller subset of the players, for example there might be a Staff Group, a First Time FPL Group, a USA Players Group, or a group created by you with just your friends.
Good luck, and tell your friends!

Argh curse Solar's success in individual leagues and online tournaments! $6 is simultaneously too expensive for main team and too cheap for anti! Then Losira rockets up to $7 from $3! Rabble rabble rabble.
This will take some serious thought. Looking forward to another awesome round!

Hm, I feel like those prices are too high. There are very few 3-5 point players which makes it incredibly hard to build a proper team with only 30 points without resorting to getting one or two 1-pointers for the team wins alone.
In order to get a good result in FPL you usually aim for a 3 (high ranking) to 4 (winning FPL) points per 1 cost ratio which, in almost all cases, makes 9 point players too expensive. Even good 8 points are usually a very hard gamble. The bulk of your points will come from 4-6 point players who perform well (12-24 points). It's rare for a player to ever get 30+ points. Last round the highest points per player was 27 (InNoVation, 9 cost) followed by 23 (Life, 7 cost).
This round we have 14 players at a cost of 7+ who will all need to gain 21-36 points each in order to be worthwhile for a successful FPL team. This is not going to happen. Last round only 6 players managed to get 21+ points.
Sure, it will just mean that the FPL team will get less points this round. But it will also limit the number of viable teams that have a chance of doing well. Getting 1-2 low points player just for the team wins means less players available for the fun that is trading. Not picking teamwin-players means picking more mediocre players who, if they lose their first day match usually end up with a value that makes it hard to trade them properly.
Meh, I really don't like the prices :/

The problem in Round 1 was that teams showed an alarming lack of variety. Most teams fielded the same 4 players most weeks. For a player to be worth 3/4 they need to play more than twice. So it was a bit iffy to give 4s if they didn't play more than twice. But there are now a lot of 3s and 2s. We don't know who among the 2s and 3s will nail down a place but someone will. That will more tgan compensate for the lack of 4s.

Hm, I think the main problem is that out of those 4 and 5 pointers not many are playing or not playing favorable matches which kinda limits the amount of players you can pick from the mid range. Having more 2-3 pointers is nice for the later stages of the round but it's just a big gamble in the first week(s) since most of them are not playing and there is no telling if they ever will which makes them poor investments.
With 30 points to spend on 7 players/team you'll end up with an average of ~4.3 cost per slot so one would expect the majority of the players being in the 3-6 point range but quite the opposite is true. In fact we have only 4 players worth 4 points of which only 1 plays the first week. 11 players costing 3, only 5 of them play during the first week. That's 15 players in that bracket compared to 22 last round which really limits the amount of viable FPL compositions and variety is usually where the fun comes from. I expect quite a lot of similar looking teams among the top performers this round.
But to get a bit more into detail regarding the cost of certain players: Last round Curious, San and Dream cost 4 points and earned almost the same amount of points (12-13). With the 3-4 points per cost rule I'd expect them to cost 3-4 points this round but instead San and Curious cost 5 points while Dream is still 4 points despite having the best record of the 3 (2-1 compared to 2-2 and 2-3). In order for a 5 pointer to be worthwhile Curious and San would need to earn 15-20 points each this round and I highly doubt that. Classic and Yoda are in a similar spot; they cost 5 points each, one of them is not playing the first week and both of them performed like a 3-4 point player last round (12-13 points aswell). Dear and Marineking cost 6 points now but only managed to accumulate 9 points last round which is roughly the performance of a 3 point player. sOs at 7 cost managed to get 13 points last round which is, again, roughly the performance of a 4 point player.
Those are just couple examples of players who are slightly too expensive compared to previous rounds and their expected performance.
But since the FPL round is almost on it's way and changes to the cost highly unlikely I'd appreciate it if you'd take this feedback into consideration for the next round of FPL. The reason why people had high scores on their FPL teams last round was not due to the players getting more points than they should have (compared to their cost) but rather due to the fact that it was insanely easy to pick a good Anti-Team (Taeja, Stork, Seed, Marineking) of overpriced players.

Anti team has Solar Flash and Stork... I look. I look again. Wtf am I doing? But it makes sense. Last season was soo easy I'm willing to bet overall points will be lower this season. Too many unknown's.

Not gonna complain but why does StarTale-yoe cost only 2 points even though they got third place last round ?
