Since it's fan favourites getting the wild cards, I suppose I see the commercial reasoning. TaeJa won IEM Shenzhen so we invited him to defend his "title". sOs was sent by KeSPA as Proleague Round 4 MVP HyuN was #1 on WCS ranking MC was #2 on WCS ranking Inviting based on WCS ranking is such crap. I can't stand it. It's a self fulfilling thing; MC and Hyun get lots of points because they get invited to everything and they get invited to everything because they have a lot of points. and are dependable. and put on good showings. and bring some fun to the tourney. Face it there are few tournaments that aren't going to invite two of the most popular players who tournament organisers can fall back on if any of the special guests they have in mind refuse the invite. The reputation for being travelers is almost as good for them for getting invites as there wcs seeding and popularity. Not to mention that they both are monstrously good players. you're not allowed say that on team liquid anymore. Anyone whos not kespa is crap and for suggesting other players could even lick kespa feet you are laughed at.

I do agree that the Kespa players are much stronger than 2013 kepsa players in comparison to foreign/non kespa players but I still think that the non kespa players will take series off them, whether they will win overall or not is another matter. Anyway most of my favourite zerg players are not Kespa, Jaedong, Life, Hyun the list goes on. But we will see if Kespa rules or or not when at this tournament and at blizzcon.

Considering Flash recently beat players like Soulkey and EffOrt in KeSPA Cup Qualifier and players like PartinG and SoS in Proleague playoffs and herO, Pigbaby and Classic in IEM Toronto qualifier, it's not looking so well for Scarlett and MC and Flash only has to practice TvZ and TvP for his GSL Code S also, aslong as Maru doesn't get put in Group D, Flash should be fine.

Both Hyun and MC have both gotten almost enough points from the WCS circuit alone to qualify for Blizzcon. Even with no invites at all they would be at Blizzcon.

TaeJa - Check Weekend - Check 10k Prize - Check
Yep everyone knows how this is gonna unfold. Move along folks.
Edit:
Did some research. Our boy has won 9/10 tournaments entered that have a first place prize of 10k. And he's also on a 7 win spree with no losses between in 10k tournaments.

The hype for D is incredible. I hope Maru gets thrown in there as well.

Wow crazy groups and a crazy open bracket, hope to see the Canadians do well!

They still get invites for having points, and points for having invites. I feel like the WCS invites should go the more fringe players 13th-20th or so area where their chances at Blizzcon exist but they still need to prove themselves, before they get invites for the top guys who are just going to further the gap pointlessly
EDIT: Obviously I'm talking about WCS ranking based invites only. I fully support inviting the title defender and the Proleague MVP

Yes, from WCS EU and NA, whereas Soo, who is probably better than both those guys put together, might not get to blizzcon despite 3 consecutive GSL finals. If we want blizzcon to be entertainment, fine. If we want it to be a serious competitive format, it's a travesty. GSL is the real world championship, blizzcon is a giant showmatch.

I'd like to see them prove it then. A tournament should not give WCS points if there are any invites at all.

A tournament should not give WCS points if there are any invites at all. WCS points should be the sole province of WCS itself and fully open tournaments, no invites or regional qualifiers. Korea should have double or triple the amount of points, and money, compared to other regions, a GSL Ro8 is easily as hard or harder than winning a mostly foreigner Lan.
Then, we can put a hard region lock in place because Korea will actually be worthwhile for Koreans. Boom, everybody wins, we get the best players at blizzcon, no one gets any freebies from invites, and the local NA and EU players actually have something realistic to play for.

If I know my Korean organizers and I think I do My bet is they take that extra money and put it all in first place -_-

It's like you all think Action is some random 2 bit zerg. So let me run it down who he's beaten in the last 2 months:
Action 2-0 Taeja Action 2-0 Nestea Action 2-0 aLive Action 2-0 Myungsik Action 1-0 Dark Action 1-0 Rogue Action 2-0 Trap Action 2-1 B4 Action 2-1 Flash Action 2-0 Believe Action 2-0 Nestea Action 1-0 Yonghwa Action 1-0 Super Action 1-0 Cure.
He is pretty good.

Still dunno why they consider it an "Open Bracket" when it is only open to like 16 players.
