I saw really disapointed things about this in the last couple of minutes, apparently Blizzard has a deal with megablocks for this kind of toys from blizzard universe making things really difficult for lego to bring this project to reality even if we get past 10000.
i don't think lego will endorse a tank. It may be awesome for us starcraft fan, but it's still selling a model tank, from a company that refused for many years to sell green blocks for fear that people would make military stuff with it. I don't think the tank has the same fantasy/space stuff disconection from reality that a battlecruiser has, for example. So even though i'm terran, i'll be more confortable with lego doing protoss stuff, that are further away from actual weaponery

Yeah. Deathstar - fine. Tank - bad.
The main problem would be licensing from ActiBlizzard.
No thank you, making a model of an unit that everyone laughs at (with a legitimate reason ) is pretty much what people would call as "BM". So, NO, thank you.
Maybe, if it was Brood War siege tank, well ... that's a complete opposite story.

as long it is sci-fi I think there is no problem of having it as a lego product I think, they have stormtroopers, they had english soldiers of 18th century and warship also, no I think lego has a clear politic against "actual" military vehicule/people. When it is fantasy it is fine.

well I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a siege tank in real life, so I think that sci-fi unit from a sci-fi video game would count as science fiction.

what i said is that there is actual tanks, that model is not that fair away from real life to be understodd as fantasy by the average non-gamer person
Really old tank >.> I mean, I recall this was posted ages back on here so I'm surprised that the guy is looking for supporters now and not back when the SCII community was bigger meaning better chance of success. Still, it's pretty neat imo
"With this project, all LEGO builders can know what it's like to drop the hammer and dispense some indiscriminate justice! Seeing this beauty in action is really amazing, it moves so smoothly. Great work!"
Looks like they totally get the idea of friendly fire! Love it.

that's actually the scbw unit quote of the siege tank

It is.
The LEGO Group has filed lawsuits against Mega Bloks, Inc. in courts around the world on the grounds that Mega Bloks' use of the "studs and tubes" interlocking brick system is a violation of trademarks held by LEGO. Generally such lawsuits have been unsuccessful, chiefly because the functional design of the basic brick is considered a matter of patent rather than trademark law, and all relevant LEGO patents have expired. In one of the most recent decisions, on November 17, 2005, the Supreme Court of Canada upheld Mega Bloks' right to continue selling the product in Canada.[5] A similar decision was reached by the European Union's Court of First Instance on November 12, 2008 when it upheld an EU trademark agency decision following an objection by Mega Bloks against a trademark awarded to LEGO in 1999.[6]
On September 14, 2010, the European Court of Justice ruled that the 8-peg design of the original LEGO brick "merely performs a technical function [and] cannot be registered as a trademark".
Thanks for supporting my tank! It's been on the home page of the ideas.lego.com page for a couple of weeks now and it's almost 30% of the way to 10,000 votes. I think it dropped to the second page of the slider today.
I appreciate the effort you're all making in signing up on the ideas site. I know Lego doesn't have the licencing for Starcraft but you never know what might happen if they see a lot of support.
PS: We're working on plans to use the Lego Mindstorms EV3 robotics to make a new siege tank. It will actively rotate, track, and fire on a target. It's pretty complicated but will be really cool when it's done.
Im sorry to tell but Activision Blizzard gave all merch. rights to legos nr1 enemy Mega Brands ( Mega Bloks ). Even if we hit 10k, lego couldnt build it because of the copyright problems. Better ask Mega Bloks for doing a Starcraft Series as they have allready CoD, Halo and Warcraft series.

Well basically every motorized/tracked howitzers... even if they often have hydraulic "legs" instead of the tracks to offer lateral stabilization.
