I love them so much and was playing with them without a problem for the past week and a half. Yesterday I upgraded my CPU and Memory and formatted my computer. After re-installing Starcraft I found that my terrain is now black. I have tried the fixes but when I remove lighting=0 the shiny effect obviously come back. I am confused why it would have worked before and what could have changed. Is there another work around to get the reduced shininess without using lighting=0?

Is there another work around to get the reduced shininess without using lighting=0? Use low shaders or medium (or higher) with lighting=0 There were other ways to turn off shiny effect, but they were turned off with patch 1.5.0 and/or patch 2.0.0

Try this: Clear cache from ProgramData / BlizzardEntertainment / StarCraft II (this folder might be hidden, google how to show hidden folders) Also, install latest video drivers from manufacturer's website. It helped me.

This is usually what solves the problem. Sometimes you have to do it multiple times (no idea why, but it usually works).
