If it is 1, then change it to 0

Have you did all the changes when game was closed? Sometimes players modifying variables while game is launched. Thats wrong, because when you close the game, it overrites the variables.txt to settings that were in the game.

do i have to delete cache every time i try to change something in the variables? and yes game was closed every time aswell
|
i'm confused chrono, your screen cap is not black terrain...

well then i misunderstood the word terrain lol.. ehm, is there a way to fix that btw?

We already listed ways that solved this problem for many players who had this problem. Seems like there is something more, which I can't understand. Because previously all the black/purple terrain problems were from uncleared cache, unrepaired game, old video-card drivers and sometimes problems with turned on alternate low textures (they use different set of texture files, and sometimes SC2 engine doesn't loads them properly, so solution was to use standard low 'blurred' textures by turning off the alternate ones).
Okay, lets try to investigate this issue. Can you say us does your game looks normally on standard low settings? Just remove lighting=0, launch the game and change everything to standard low. Is everything okay in this case?
|
yes, all normal. nothing is gliched, everything is as it should be at low.
|
what i mean is that that screen cap looks normal to me. I am probably missing something, what is wrong?
|
the ground is black, instead of this golden shiny color

i even tried to cut out a few things from the hybrid settings in the variables. bakeTerrainLighting=0 normalmap=1 glossmaps=1 didnt change anything. so something i guess must interfere with something that its black. but im 4hrs in and still havent found a way to fix it. i want those settings that badly, yes :D

Change game settings to Medium and close the game. Add lighting=0 to variables. Write here what you got.

hmm got the black ground again

I'm in the same boat as Crono. I tried changing the alternatelowtextures to 0, but it made no difference. I really want to keep all the hybrid settings, but I can't seem to get the terrain to work.

So for now I can't help much. Looks like it also depends on your videocard. For example Desrow streaming right now with Hybrid settings and it looks okay for him.

+ Medium settings + lighting=0 -- turn off some parameters from standard mediums. It easily possible to do through game menues. Just Make all low and turn shaders to medium.
Without lighting=0 you will have standard medium settings with shiny effect and 3D-shadows. Lighting=0 is the core of hybrid settings, it turns off any lighting in the game, and because of that, it also turns off all the shadows, except special blob-shadows that are visible only on low settings.

hmm well since lighting=0 does all that black ground for me, i guess i cant use it then

What's the variable setting to change observer mode to 'Default'? I've currently made my Variables.txt read-only, but I don't want to risk it by making it writable.
