TvP is a mess of a match-up loaded with unpredictable all-ins and an unplayable lategame. It's painful because that's exactly what made PvZ so stupid in WoL You either win with a soul train or lose to brood lord infestor. But it's okay! 50%!

Wouldnt whatever race is imba naturally have higher MMR (Get promoted, fill up GM, fill up top masters, etc) than they should because they are winning more than they should? In that case this way of examaning data is a way to sugar coat the statistics.

To me, filtering both player skill (by Elo or some variant, probably) and race strength (wat) make zero sense to me when you are attempting to present the statistics of the population as a whole in an attempt to explain things.

The changes they proposed were only going to do more harm and he will have less room to ignore problems next time.

Yeah proleague is a bunch of blink all ins and Maru killing 30 probes with a hellion drop. Seriously stop namedropping proleague so much, the sample size is beyond tiny.

What other data would they use? There is not magic number that measures "skill" beyond a player's ability to beat their opponent.

But look at the Terrans being fielded in PL. You've got a total of 1 Terran whose never been in Code A+ at any point...

That was the thing that annoyed me the most in the last post. As to how the stats are calculated... It would probably matter if the stats were useful in themselves, which they are not. lol wut? did you see the negative PvZ across all realms?

You act as if the PL coaches are just rolling a dice before games to decide who gets sent out. Of course it is based on practice results, in-house training, and planning. If a player is bad, they will not be sent out. They might be taking a calculated risk in terms of guessing match-ups, but it's also not like they have no time to prepare even when they guess wrong (outside of ace matches and winner's league).

I mean, you just have no way of knowing, right? Except from watching how the actual game plays out :D And I don't recall any moment where the stats they pull out from their "skill-adjusted winrates" were more skewed than 45-55%, which I find weird, because in pro level, winrates went as low as 35% winrate in TvZ at the end of 2012.

Edit: And wth does race strength even mean?? Isnt that just balance? So they are using balance to determine whether or not the game is balanced? I guess the definition of dictionary is "a dictionary" too then..
