Deterioration of gameplay and skill (what you have in the War3 and BW scenes right now) will come when there are no longer any big tournaments going on. Less monetary return will cause players to either retire or (basically) turn into part-time pros (= skill deterioration, but then again you do have part-time players like Polt ...). If the Korean scene crashes, then obviously there will be loads of retirements, but the ones who do stay on will probably be picked up by international teams and sent to tournaments abroad. They'll still try to win, so as long as a handful of good Koreans remains active post-scene-collapse, I don't think the skill level will be irretrievably crippled.

That's really inefficient in multiple ways. IM is already an well established team. Absolutely no reason to throw that partnership away and start from scratch.

But will that necessarily be beneficial? As we all know, the highest level of play in SC2 derived from Korean. Majority of the audience only care to see professional games played optimally. W/o a Korean scene, its game over for that type of gameplay thus meaning that the core audience of SC2 would definitely not prefer. This create a drop in viewership, followed by diminishing sponsorship money, later by the incentive to "go pro" at the game, furthering the decrease in gameplay.

When Korean SC2 infrastructure collapse, don't you think for one moment that it is good for the SC2 industry. It is, more or less, the nails in the coffin for the professional scene.

Well, if you want to draw a historical parallel, the Korean scene collapsing in War3 didn't hurt the professional scene all that much.

If WC3 level of professionalism is what SC2 is chasing for, then no worry for at least 5 years.

I feel like if this was the case, LG would have bought out Incredible Miracle's two League of Legends teams like Samsung did with MVP.

But like people have said previously, IM's LoL teams aren't exactly that great. MVP's buyout by Samsung makes sense because they were one of the few top teams to not have a major sponsor fully backing them.

If LG wishes to make their own LoL team, they might be looking to buy out a stronger team. Though my knowledge of the LoL pro scene is limited, so I can't exactly name any teams they'd be interested in buying out that would be stronger than IM's.
You should not have to pay to watch the GSL, Proleague, or OSL at a reasonable time. That is not "fine" and it's BS to say otherwise. My sig since 2011. http://www.youtube.com/user/dabom88

We are only assuming that because we've never giving foreigners a legitimate chance to shoot for the top. When MLG/DH/WCS and other tourneys started flooding in Koreans, of course they were going to win the majority of prize money. They have fucking team houses/coaches/maids/robotsexservants, how are foreigners supposed to compete with that?

If the Korean scene was to shrink dramatically, we will have foreigners who have legit chances at the top 1-3 and thus they will try to improve their play. Legitimate competition= skill rise.

Foreigners have had 3 years to "shoot to the top." A couple got close but none took any major title like gsl. If anything, all that is gonna happen is more exclusivity within the pro scene. Less competitions and only a certain number of spots to compete for to be in those competitions. The game is far from over or dying. This is more of a transformation. It just won't be hip anymore to be part of the sc2 community.

If a foreigner actually won a GSL then this player would be unbeatable in normal circumstances. In the finals the foreigner wouldn't play against a single Korean, but against the collective power of all Koreans combined. Which is their biggest advantage and disadvantage anyway.

this. Unless I'm mistaken, it's been more than 3 years now(July was WoL release) so foreigners had more than enough time to prove themselves. There are still a couple who are competitive but Koreans top every tournament which isn't surprising to me at least. They put in the workload and they get the results. If the KR scene falls and it doesn't look good, SCII's pop will plummet even further. Eventually, it'll plummet after LoTV release but who knows. Maybe Blizzard will make some changes and fix things.

Has no effect on me because I buy the best product that has what I need for the best price. I don't care about anything else personally. If people want to be bitter I say let them. Not like it will change anything.

I bet this is because that time TL decided to gush on LG's facebook about how much they love LG and their support for Esports. If you take a step back, it does look like spam.
