Its sad really, the players in challenger league are no doubt about as strong as the premier players but from a broadcasting and announcement standpoint they are screwed over season after season.
ESL announced the challenger groups last season a single day before they started, they outsourced the broadcast to someone else(and notably worse, significantly) even though they have 2 full-time casters hired (apollo specifically for WCS). NASL and MLG did horrible jobs with their qualifiers, nobody knew they were even happening, no public brackets etc. At least their broadcasts are the same level as the Premier broadcasts, but atrocious are both (premier and challenger).
All in all challenger league was shit (as blunt as it sounds) and its sad, there couldve been done so much more

I don't think Blizzard really has much of a clue about what they're doing. I'm not impressed with their company AT ALL, and I think they're just a bunch of gaming nerds flailing their arms in a capitalist world. They need some consultant help...badly.
WCS is killing SC2 in the Korean scene, it is killing the foreign scene because Korean players are going to EU and NA but not actually moving there, and it is killing sponsorships. To be taken over by games like LoL and DotA is just embarrassing in my opinion--they're not even good, which shows just how bad Blizzard is running things for the only RTS game around.
tl;dr: Blizzard can't even succeed with a monopoly. smh

I like having a more structured kind of tournament. However, it really fucked every other tournament. I mean, this year we've had what, three DH tournaments and we're going to have a IEM and then? I honestly can't remember any other since the start of WCS.

Guys.
I don't know what some of the players are talking about, because the statement Blizzard gave them doesn't say half the things they are claiming.
Don't speculate, just wait for Blizzard to release something officially.

People wonder why I played random. First of all you know that I can't play Starcraft between 6.PM and 11.PM thanks to B.net/Free ( French ISP ). Then the last Challenger League doesn't bring you in Premier League for 2014. and a few people know this fact. Don't wory, I stay Terran.
Bad translation but still a translation

I'm sure there's a reason for this. I'm confidant that it's a good reason too.

Free obviously reduced french connections because they has issues with YouTube/Twitch and thanks to that you have a shitty ping and you can't play.

SC2 isn't huge like soccer where you can have a Champions and Europa league, and Premier/Championship leagues, etc. Even LoL LCS doesn't have any sort of minor league. Challenger makes no sense for a game as small as SC2, glad to see it go.

Thanks for your input messioso, I guess you know more than you can share with us.

I'd prefer a removal of Challenger League and an addition of a 4th region (Asia/Oceania).

I wouldn't be overly concerned about it like messioso said until blizz releases something official

Yeah, im fairly sure players weren't suppossed to speak about this, there are changes coming to the format of WCS next year. Blizzard is doing all they can to improve the system, this is good news, not bad. Just sucks for players that got into challenger through qualifiers, everyone else should've known what was going on beforehand.

Well, some kind of stronger region locking is coming for certain. The current model isn't very exciting for most and it has pretty much completely destroyed the NA scene.
I don't think we will be given more details until Blizzcon though.

I just can't believe GOM would be okay with this. I'd be very surprised if that applied for GSL too. GOM would be the only ones profiting from a region lock.
if all the Koreans that are currently playing in WCS AM and EU would move back to WCS KR, not only would the level of competition in WCS EU and especially WCS AM be greatly diminshed, but the level of WCS KR would be even higher and it would feel like the most exclusive, awesome thing ever (which it is). if anything, NASL should be scared of a region lock more than anyone.
but we don't even know what's going to end up happening here. so i suggest we just lean back and wait.
