Whaaaat, removing challenger completely? So code A gone? That's some big news right here.

The GSL tournament format has always felt a bit forced in the other regions in my humble opinion. The community has been trashing Blizzard with fury recently and rightfully so, I hope they really get their act together and this move might be the first step of many.
Not many people have hope for the scene according to the forums and I don't like when the internet mob talk trash like they know everything what's going to happen with certainty.

Meh. o_o

To be fair it makes sense to restart everything if they are planning on doing a region lock. While it would be nice to make this years challenger important, it would be quite a hassle to look who is going to play where and everything. And one should not underestimate being seeded in a 1000 person bracket, makes for a lot less games and way more relaxing

I guess that is what the region lock is meant to stop (hopefully). Though sometimes i do wonder what would have happened if wcs would have just been a teamleague with weekly matches and each team like say 6 or 8 "pros" on them, and keep the gsl/osl/dreamhack/nasl/mlg/iem and all those as the individuals. I feel region locking teams would be much easier than players, who might just want to move around :/.
But yeah i think if someone is willing to actually MOVE country, i see no reason to stop them.

lets just hope that this means that there will be some changes to the current system, perhaps something which will make it even more awesome :D!!

Very puzzling, I can't even begin to guess which changes they will implement.

If that is true, I can imagine it will be a gigantic qualfier for 24 spots after every season and only top8 from the previous season stays in. That might lead to some insanely amazing qualifiers but I feel this screws over the players right now who are competing in Challenger. Atleast the turnover from season to season would be more drastic than 8 players.
And it can be said for certain this wont apply to Korea, Blizzard wouldnt dare to pull something like this there.
E: Oh and it puts heavy pressure on Korean players competing in foreign regions, you wouldnt want to play in one of these gigantic and stacked qualifiers if you are playing from Korea.

seems like they don't care at all about challenger, wcs am starts in under 2 hours and they don't even have the bracket posted with the matches. apparently the 5 matches they were casting today were said at the end of last nights premier broadcast but it's not posted on the website(battle.net wcs portal or nasl's) so it makes sense about what will happen to challenger league if it's true about NA too which it probably is, I don't think the same will happen to korea though.

Let's respond to the stream of retiring players with provking more players, including up and coming ones, to retire.
Damn, I hope this stays in EU. That's bad enough if it takes off, but better than it being implemented everywhere. Hopefully it's implemented nowhere in the end.

I would prefer a 16/16 distribution (16 from Premier, 16 from qualifiers). 8:24 seems very harsh. But I kinda approve the removal of Challenger League. It takes too much time and participates a lot in the WCS oversaturation.

Ok bitter and Rotterdam seem to be pretty positive about this on twitter. I'm not that worried and I want to see how Blizzard is switching it up.
