While I welcome this change, I am a bit sad as the top players from each server will be the same people, making GM even less relevant.

So, to those who keep saying "Blizzard doesn't know what they're doing!" I think this is one (amongst many) instances where they are in fact going to come out with a stronger support of online/casual play going forward. This can only mean good things for my own online play, as well as the strength of the community of both casual and professional players.

The one thing I think that LoL has proved is that the larger the player base, the larger the viewership. For SC2, which already has a very high conversion rate of viewers who at one time purchased the game but no longer play, this is going to be a boon Blizzard continues to support moves such as this.

I am willing to bet 1000.00$ add clan support in HOTS. You should totally take me up on this offer.

Or even more relevant? If you are top GM on all servers, does that not say something?

I like the sound of this as it will make the game more competitive. I just wonder if there would be bandwidth or latency issues when playing with players that are from a different region.

Any thoughts?

There will be no difference to today but Blizzard will say that they improved it a lot and they will look for further results

I didn't think we had the technology for this.

Segaty was talking about technology for true global play. The solution with different servers does not need real new technology, it is more an administrative issue. Also it is not true global play, so Blizzard is using a misnomer here (like in Diablo.)

It's amazing how many people marvel at this awesome new "technology".

Newsflash ... the technology is already there, it's called internet.
They're not doing anything but "letting" you authenticate versus the other servers and also increasing the computing power on the servers or balancing the load accordingly.
Everything stays the same "technology" wise.

And ofc korea will get flooded with new players in the first few weeks.

You are making a lot of assumptions, there could have been legit technical reasons for such a delay.

This change perhaps would be for the better. Blizzard will just have to try and make the servers as accessible as possible for all regions.

I don't like this at all. Not with how all lag is shared. People with a good connection to the server shouldn't get punished by playing versus someone who has a bad connection or just lives far away from the server.

Whoever is closer to the server still has an advantage. People that travel a lot should be forced to play on high lag servers? LAN plz.

I heard this promise from a mod at the battle.net-forums when the game was in beta. I hope this isn't another trick to get people to buy the expansion since they aren't promising it at any date or in the expansion...

"More details soon", its 2 years later since the first promise.

So many promises coming to the HotS expansion, and some of them will not be fulfilled. People will still buy the expansion, sadly enough, and will think that "the updates are coming soon".
I can jungle Pudge, can you?
