Haha, nice one...
GSL is by far the most professional tournament being run in SC2, they also offer the best production, best players and the best innovation (shows like GNN etc).

Gom is blaming SKT for this, like a gossip girl, not a business. Should just make a short announcement in one sentence, Rain has schedule conflict, so he can't make it.

Seconded.

But I wouldn't suspect any malintent here, we should just categorize it as "shit happens" and not make drama out of this.

Well GOM asked for the schedules of the teams BEFORE announcing the groups. SKT gave Rains schedule to GOM and the Code S groups were made. Only after that, on the day Code S was already starting, SKT/Rain asked for a change. You can't really take the day, on which the groups were announced, as a reference but the day, on which SKT gave the schedule (without MLG) to GOM. I'm not saying, it is Kespas fault, but either SKTs for not asking Rain in time, if he wants to play in the Open Bracket, or Rains, for deciding/announcing it too late.

For once i'm not in shock ppl are getting angry. They should. Their favourite show gsl is missing the new neo, the brand new sc2 talent coming from Kespa playing immaculate so far. They should be angry because these kinda conflicts happen all the time and it's spectators who really pay the price. Sure shit happen but i feel that still it's not being handled professionnaly from all parts (gom, kespa, skt and even rain).

On the 29th the tournament had already started, it's obviously too late. They most likely had a deadline for schedule changes prior to the 27th.

Yeah, that is true. My bad. Very unprofessional from Kespa then.

Waw...Kespa kind of fucked up, to not give Rain's schedule to GOM.
But Rain, seriously..You chose MLG OPEN BRACKET over GSL CODE S ?
Waw..

gsl do not have to give reasons. its not even a scheduel conflict. its forfeiting. it falls to sk to make an announcement, which they didnt.
but gsl as a profesianal organization has a responsibilty to its viewers, so they made an anouncement.
|
also he is in up and downs right? not direcly in first round of code a?
|
Bad move. I hope it is his wrong assumption that foreign fans like MLG more than GSL. Poor Rain. Unless there was something else behind the scenes.
|
Well this is good for the foreign scene I guess favoring over a NA event over a Korean one.
|
Wow that is so huge... He must want the foreign scene.
|
My first thought was: 'big deal'. Sure GSL is the premier SC2 league (although its production lags behind DH), but its 'season' runs non-stop. We just had a GSL finals and they followed it up with qualifiers for the next season with barely any break between it.
Good for Rain to get out and do something different.
|
think about it. if the players truly believe sc2 is dying in korea they would want to make their foreign presence known asap. gsl is clearly the best right now and at least for the next couple seasons but can you really say that with certainty for say, 6-12 months from now? its certainly possible the players might recognize this and establish themselves in the foreign scene b4 gsl becomes a joke (which sadly it will, if sc2 keeps the same numbers in south korea)
keep in mind im not saying sc2 will fail, just sc2 in south korea.
