Lol, people are getting so angry, calm down guys, it's just a scheduling conflict, nothing vindictive about it.

The problem here is not the conflict itself but the fact they didn't mention it till the 29th.

Leenock, Naniwa come to mind (granted Nani was before the korean influx, still tough though)

GL Rain in MLG. He seriously thinks he has a better chance of top-8 there than an epic run in GSL. I really like the guy and his humor shows every time I get to chat with him. Keep working hard! Hwaiting!

This cannot be what happened. This is either a mistake by the management or on purpose. GSL has repeatedly accommodated players in the past by moving their match later or earlier.

the mistake was deciding to go to MLG so late. He was just confirmed yesterday, well i guess 2 days ago now.

I wonder if KESPA really is this manipulative, or if this was actually Rain's choice.

Is there seriously drama surrounding this? Rain had a scheduling conflict, and obviously (read: probably had to) chose MLG over GSL due to the MLG/Kespa deal. He's dropped to Code A round 48, and we're done.

I dunno how TL can make drama over this decision when GSL doesn't seem annoyed, and neither does Kespa or Rain. No one's blaming anyone else, it's just how the schedules lined up.

I mean, it sucks that we can't watch Rain in Code A, but it's not like Rain is completely out of the GSL. He gets to fight people like motherfuckin' Taeja to get back into Code S.

Yeah no. SKTT1 could've easily told GOM earlier (like a few days ago) and GOM would've been able to change the schedule.

Like Fionn said, this is either incredible incompetence by SKT management or foul play.

Or maybe Rain decided himself that he wanted to go but did so last minute. Maybe he was only recently made aware of the fact that you could attend mlg "uninvited" via the open bracket.

There are certainly more than those two reasons why this was announced late.

What the hell... Why would you do that. Sure, even if it's open bracket, Rain is so good that he will probably win MLG but people dont care that he goes in Dallas if he has to forfeit GSL Code S. Why on earth would you do that. Is he crazy ? Is Kespa crazy ? What's happening ?! oO WHY ? Well at least other gsl code S players can hope to win the all thing...

He is probably going to come to all the international events to take their money rather than playing in the hardest tournament for less money than the others combined.

He can only go to MLG where first place is a bit more than half of first place for winning Code S.

Kespa exclusivity shit and all that.

I was curious how he could participate in MLG and play Code S same time; I guess it wasn't possible after all.

I get the feeling from Rain's interviews that he's not the regular money hunter guy, like so many other pros. If he wanted to play in GSL and MLG at the same time I think he could just have told them in time and GOM could make his group play next week. I think this has more to do with him wanting to go abroad, testing his stamina in the open bracket, and preparing for the WCS Global Finals and so forth. One thing I don't understand though is choosing MLG over Code S you get a lot more exposure with your play style and builds, potentially weakening chances of winning let's say WCS Global Finals. However I don't think this will affect his MLG run so much since his announcement to participate in MLG came so late, not giving enough time for the possibility to snipe him. Expect to see at least a round of eight appearance by him this weekend!

I doubt it's anything more than him underestimating the Open Bracket and figuring it's free money... as far as I know, Rain has zero experience in a "play all fucking day" format like MLG, and he's never made this big a trip, so he might be underestimating the challenge.

edit: I know KeSPA blah blah blah but do you really think they're stupid enough to take their best player, the player that is the best case for confirming the "OMG KESPA PLAYERS SO FUCKING GOOD" belief, out of GSL? if the other KeSPA players were leaving GSL, sure, but they wouldn't pull their best shot at making GOM/ESF look bad, they're not that stupid.

WCS Asia was gauntlet format and he won that. But regardless, im pretty mad about this. Not sure about whether to be mad at GOM for being inflexible with their schedule, or KeSPA for forcing him to do this or Rain himself for shitty decisions.

Only way to redeem himself for pulling this one is to win MLG.

Well OSL finals was last Saturday, so maybe he was focused on that and didn't even know/care about MLG open brackets until after he won. And the earliest they could notify Gom was Monday. (actually Sunday, since everyone's on twitter anyway.) That said, he could have still played his matches tonight and take the next flight out. No excuse - Korean Air has those awesome komodo sleeper seats/suites. Isn't Kespa rich?

How can this be GOMs fault? They even asked the teams for their schedules to be able to fix all the conflictes with other tournaments. But when you ask for a change on the day Code S starts, 3 days in front of your own group, there isn't much anybody can do about that.
