You and everyone else arguing about Terran not getting as much in HotS.
We don't even know how the game plays yet. The additions in HotS arent even finalized yet.
Yes, to the naked eye, it seems like what Terran got isnt as "cool" as what Protoss/Zerg have.
Everyones complaining about how the Terran units are too 1a, whereas Protoss/Zerg have other skills.

If, 6 months after HotS is released, Terran is still lame, complain then. Not now. The game isnt even out yet.
Before we complain about new Terran units lacking micro, lets all focus on perfecting our micro with units we already have, like the marine. Because I'm pretty sure most people here don't have close-to-perfect micro, and shouldnt be complaining that they have one less unit that needs to be "microd".

Lets just be happy that the expansion is coming out and be grateful.
You can type "StarCraft" with just your left hand.

Zerg gets new spell caster, new siege unit and hidra booster, terran gets widow mines which browder even said it won't ever hit in a pro game. I guess they modeled it after the raven hunter seeker missle.

Zerg new master race.

lol as terran im just sad, spidermines wouldve been cool but widowmines seem to be useless at high level since you can just kill your own unit, or even better send it to the enemy lines.

No different from WoL, you will see a ton of patches once this game is played at a pro level.
10 second timer on mines might seem acceptable on casual player level micro, but makes it less than useless on pro level. I don't see it ever killing more than 1 enemy unit, and much more frequently zerglings or charge-lots picking it up and running them into terran units.
In general a lot of cheesy play with swarm hosts, tempests and warhounds until they all get properly patched/adjusted. The full potential of these units will simply not even been seen until we see it on the pro level.
Wonder if Tempest will do friendly AoE damage. Seems like Terran is the only race burdened with that issue so often.

A lot of improvements overall since the last update.
Feeling a little queasy about the state of Terran, I expect a video was not made with Terran because they are waiting to implement some serious additions/changes.

thats because terran already have a ton of shit. vipers can easily be countered by ghosts and oracles entomb ability can be delt with by PFs.

terrans didn't get shafted, most of the changes are to more directly deal with terrans. viper for example is to make marines less cost effective late game. we all know how potent 3-3 marines can be. locusts are also there to help deal with mid game marine siege pushes.

the Mship core is also there to help toss expand more safely in PvT without having to worry about early pushes.

stop denying how powerful terrans are. they easily have the best early and mid game out of all 3 races. the devs acknowledged this and even stated that they didnt want to give terran too much because they already have alot.

Thoughts from a Terran perspective:

-TvP:

Mech looks extremely strong now. Battle Hellions deal with Zealots, Warhound wrecks Immortals and Stalkers. Add Tanks onto that and you have a very strong army. Will have to see how this develops since Protoss has the Tempest and Oracle now, but so far it looks like Terran is looking favored. I also don't see how MMMVG got indirectly nerfed in any way either. In fact with Willow Mines I feel it got buffed.

-TvZ

Bio just looks... unviable. Period. Probably still see Marine/Tank in the early game, but transitioning into Warhound/BattleHellion/Viking is looking to be the norm. With Hydras now back in the mix I'm not sure how this'll pan out, but it looks like Tanks will have to be used against them. Not sure if Battle Hellions will the durability to get up close and personal to them. Willow Mines look like they'll be awesome for this match-up.

-TvT

No idea how this'll pan out with the Warhound in place. I'm positive that a mass number of siege tanks will still be viable, but Warhound feels like they'll just shit all over a small number of them. Need to see this developed.

-General

Protoss looks underpowered vs Terran in general. But Zerg looks overpowered vs Terran and Protoss. Tanks will definitely need a buff after HOTS starts up.

I'm not liking the direction they took the Warhound, being essentially a Mech buster unit. Cannons should be +dmg vs Armored, not Mechnical. Need to know if missiles are able to hit only Mechanical or if can hit all (And auto-cast simply auto targets mech units).

Zerg looks really -really- good with the Viper, and the Swarm Host looks kinda silly, but easy to deal with. Viper with Abduct however will be the biggest game changer of all the match-ups.

I'm really really impressed by blizzard. The community really loved what zerg had to offer when they first showed us the new units so they almost didn't change anything about it. On the other hand many people didnt like the new protoss changes and they decided to change them and I think they've done a great job. The tempest looks like a really cool idea and I couldn't think of a more exciting unit they could add to the current death ball. The tempest is almost like siege tank unit which is really unique and no other race has one like it. Also I really like the harrasing unit that protoss gets, looks really promising and quite different than what we currently have. The new nexus abilities add a lot of "thinking" required on how to spend your nexus energy and adds variety of new strats, starting from going greedy 3rd while relaying on cannon to going supper balls to the walls and using recall as backup plan. Haven't seen enough terran yet to judge but the mere fact they address mech and keep bio as it is is positive imo. Perhaps they would want to add a tiny new thing to bio so it isnt stale.

They didn't get shafted. It opened up the possibility of mech in the matchup, which also makes many other parts of the terran arsenal relevant in a way they weren't in WoL. Ravens may have their place, battlecruisers will definitely have a place, if turtling to a deathball a ton of the upgrades from the engineering bay will have their place. So no, terran wasn't shafted, because terran already had a ton of stuff they weren't using in WoL because they weren't good in the metagame, but should work nicely in HotS.
Mech is not viable versus Protoss in SC2 period. As long as blink stalkers and warp prisms are in the game slow ass tank, battle hellion and warhound armies are going to suck just as bad as mech was in WoL. Ravens have always sucked due to the really small range of HSM and now they will just get abducted/ sniped by Tempests.

I still am not a fan of entomb. It seems more like a macro mechanic than harassment. Harass is cool because it is exciting to watch. I don't see what is exciting about flying over your opponents mineral line and back out every time you have 75 energy. Entomb just looks to me like a Protoss inject.

Relax. All those units you assume the zerg has are very gas heavy. So you assume a rich late game zerg with all the power units combined. You sure in this scenario you will get owned harder than by broodlord/corruptor/infestor in WOL? Getting so many vipers to abduct a significant number of tanks for example will be a huge investment considering they themselves don't do any damage at all. Also you have quite a number of units that can't be blinded (only bio).

Tempest is expensive and slow. Superior numbers of vikings should own them. While they're at it, they can own the oracles as well.

When did you ever make carriers?

Besides, stuff like mines and the viper spells are indirect nerfs to the protoss deathball. I think we'll see a lot more variety from protoss once they have more options besides 1) making an all-innish push on 2 bases or 2) turtle to deathball.

Actually, in the other thread, they mention that the vortex will only affect ground untils, while there will be a separate stasis spell for air units.

The vortex was always overpowered against Cruisers, Broodlords and Corrupters. Personally I think if a toss allows their opponent to reach 200/200 with battlecruisers a la MVP, they deserve to lose.




Except that protoss has the relatively weakest anti-air. Voidrays are really flimsy, corruptors > phoenix, viking micro > protoss air.


Why do you think the tempest is there? It's like a fucking broodlord that hits ground and air with twice the range. That shit is going to be ridiculous!

Can you imagine a small flock of phoenixes flying around mutas with a couple tempests in the background? The mutas would die before getting a shot off.

I wasn't question the new form of harass, but highlighting in terms of unit. The new mine is really a new zone line since tanks are no longer effective given what protoss and zerg are getting (subject to change). Harass can come in any form that needs to be, and as creative/cheap as the players can think of. As for reapers, I can't see them doing anything against the current range 5 queen (always one next to hatch) if that gets carried over, they will have better luck with protoss bases that doesn't have the only mothership core. Like I said, it's still beta and a lot can change.
