Some players said they would like to switch to something else instead like Stork and some just want to retire and move on to different things. Much stronger following than SC2. You can check the BW forums for TV ratings of previous events. Simple search would suffice. From liquidpedia: Finals for Starleague now regularly attract more than 50,000 fans, and viewed nationwide on television by millions. The whole 50,000 fans is a little off. The page was last updated on the 12th of Feb 2012. The last Finals did get over a million people watching on OGN. I forget the exact number and I know we had a thread about it in the BW Section with the age group bracket as well. Last night the house was packed and the Korean audience was rocking for Khan versus KT. In twenty-one minutes I expect the same. Thank you! ![]()

From the payment options for PCBang and having accessibility to your account to the new B.Net 2.0. There's a lot of logistic issues. You don't have to play a game to watch and enjoy it.

Let me put it this way. The next PL finals will be held in a big gymnasium for an SK Basketball team, which holds just up to 15K I believe. It's a lot smaller than what we're used to. I hope that helps. We have a thread about that too in the BW forums.

An unnamed Korean industry insider said "There is a strong possibility that the next season of Proleague will have both SCBW and SC2, and the next one after that will have only SC2". and watch as your view-base reaches an all-time low because of no BW....

I don't play SC:BW, I haven't played any of it. Not the campaign, nor the online. yet I watch almost all the proleague matches and enjoy them immensely.

I admittedly find SC2 much easier to understand from a spectator perspective if you've never played it compared to LoL, esp. you have no idea what each hero does. (As someone who got into SC2 spectator-first and can't understand wtf goes on in LoL most of the time. DotA's a little better since I've watched someone play it for hours and hours while sitting next to them, but I've never put in the time to memorize what items do what and what roles each unit fills.)

I got the game last July when the price came down a little more, but before that I loved King of the Beta, the GSL matches, TSL3 and all that great stuff.

There are so many blogs as to what went wrong when Blizzard tried to introduce SC2 to Korea. See you're saying "went" and "when" but we're talking about the present now. Yes Blizzard has made numerous mistakes when it came to trying to intergrate SC2 into South Korea, that was then, this is now. I'm not saying it's going to be perfect because I know there are some barriers that can seriously hinder people from playing SC2. I'm saying that their past mistakes and the barriers aren't significant enough to say "Nope Korea is fated to turn away from SC2 because of these". It's just overgeneralization of the Korea population when we've got different information going around.

There is still major problems with b.net 2.0 that I don't see them getting addressed anytime soon. As for integration. Combining two games in one league is not a good idea. We've seen it before and the results had very little weight. It didn't do well. If the rumor becomes true and they alternate between sets. The competition won't be pure. I have no problem with a SC2 PL or showmatches before or after a PL because the results won't have an impact on the league.

We have a thread about that too in the BW forums. Divide that number by half, and probably again depending on how they set up the stadium. Maximum capacity is 7500. I also think this is another indication BW isn't doing well lately, seeing as they're using SK's stadium to cut costs. You'd think if the TV ratings were still amazing it also wouldn't be hard to get a sponsor for Team 8, the OSL or the PL. I don't think it's doing anywhere near as well as it used to be. ;\

I think as long as the programers don't have to play both games in the season it will be okay. I'm sure there will be some people who want BW exclusively, some who want SC2 exclusively, but we can't possibly know how many people will ditch the league because of it. Hell I don't like the idea of it either. I like both games (though I like BW a bit more) and I want to see BW stick around for as long as it can. If this venture helps with that then I'm cool with it. We also can't know the full intentions of the league merging. It could be piggybacking the popularity of SC2 to help finance BW, it could be abusing the BW audience to gain popularity for SC2 we just don't know. But come friend, KT vs KHAN is on. Let's go watch.
