User was warned for this post Are you kidding me, warned for this? I mean, it's not like BW is a young game. It's epicly good, yes, but technically old. Haha, mods are hardcore BW fans. People aren't allowed to say facts like "BW is old" or opinions regarding "inevitability" because it makes them sad =( Here's the thing. Most opinions don't mean jack. Goes back to what TB said, if you have no knowledge about something then your opinion to be frank doesn't mean shit and in some cases you should keep things to yourself. How is "BW is old" an opinion, it's a fact :S Old doesn't mean a bad game but BW is an old game.
I think the interpretation of old is the problem here. Yes it is released ages ago, and it is "old" in the sense of age.
But for the BW fans, its not old, you still get new styles, new strategies being found and the metagame is still being developed. You get new rookies etc. etc. so for them the game is still shifting and evolving and that might be why they dont see it as old

It's good news for SC2 but not so good for BW. I wish both could exist together but if OGn wanna drop BW then it's their decision.

I don't doubt about MKP practice time, just see the difference of level between him and the top on BW. Fu too btw. MKP doesn't practice as hard as people think, but he does practice a lot, just not as much as many players his level or even lower than him. A lot of it has to do with his style and how he practices. Also being a former BW pro is a big factor. One word: ForGG. The best being an ex-BW pro can do for you, at least from what we've seen thus far, is prove that you have the determination and talent to succeed at RTS gaming. Nothing more, nothing less. These days, when comparing success in the two games, it seems like BW just weeds out the talentless and lazy more than anything else. Doesn't seem to be a golden pass into roflstomping all the greatest SC2 pros. Err, all the best SC2 players atm have played BW though? I looked through the first 5-7 players who have held Code S that came to mind on Liquipedia, and of them, only Leenock played BW, and at that at an amateur level. A lot of our top players didn't come from BW. I know quite a bit that didn't come from anywhere, or came from different places, like WC3. Moon, Grubby and Naniwa, some of our very best, came from that game. Um, are you kidding me? Drg, mma, MVP, mc, nestea, mkp, etc, basically any top player except polt played BW how many of those were actually legends in BW though? i know NesTea wasnt, and i know MC wasnt so its probably jsut a coincidence that they played BW not one player came over when they were on top of BW. Not one. This shouldn't surprise us, as it's been stated regularly that the money for a top BW player is better.
But there's also an argument that the apparently unknown (but nonetheless professional) BW players who switched and became the faces of SC2 did so without needing to be the best at BW. So it's not a coincidence: the skill and work ethic required to get a TV game are huge and generally (but not universally) outweigh the skillsets that everyone else started SC2 with (like say all the people with no real background in RTS).

Indeed. Here's the thing, I think it would be foolish to expect all of them to switch. I think we're going to see a lot of guys go their separate ways when its all said and done based on what we've heard from various players. Then again, their minds could always change. Just have to wait and see.

Not the same game in any way, shape or form. It's a nice attempt and I laud the effort.

No but his opinion was that old games will die and new games till take their place. Thats actually an opinion. Not nessacarily a well throught out opinion, but never the less an opinion, and IMO a terrible ban. If you have to ban all "stupid" opinions then admins need to work really hard.

This is bad news for both games. BW obviously, because it's last league is getting killed off. SC2, because this huge project is destined to fail, and will further reinforce how much of a fail SC2 has been in Korea. This is the last shred of hope for SC2 ever taking off in korea. But with this bullshit league system and forcing players to switch, it will not end well.
The sad thing is, I have no better plan for OGN. It's not their fault there's isn't a market for starcraft anymore. Gone are the times of gaming for competition, teenage gamers nowadays are all about playing for experience points, rewards, riot points, whatever.

Well, now that this thread is in "Community News" perhaps some fairer judgment can be taken? All you SC2 players don't know what you are missing out on if BW dies. If you were able to look past the dated graphics you would see that this game is superior to SC2 in pretty much every aspect. There is a reason why many people here are upset and it's not because of elitism or nostalgia. It's because we played and watched both games and think that BW is better.
If BW dies I'd rather watch LoL than SC2. Judging from this thread the LoL community is really not that worse than the SC2 community and I'd rather watch a different genre game than a bastardization of the greatest esport.
Waaah but LoL is just a bastardization of Dota! Dota was superior and more authentic than LoL in every way, you LoL lovers don't know what you're missing out on if you can't look past the dated graphics and see superior strategy and gameplay of Dota.

User was warned for this post Why do posts like this one get warnings, when people in the BW forum are free to call SC2 a shit game with no future? i agree with that guy. sc2 flaming = fine bw flaming = warning ? how is this supposed to be fair ? Do you throw insults at your grandpa? No dude, its just not right.. Its not like with buddies busting each others balls. When it comes to elders, one must respect and understand what they have done.
Doe that mean you can insult a child and its fine but not an adult? In my opinion all humans have equal rights not dependent on age.

What are the big differences in gameplay between sc2bw and bw?
Anyways it's a lot closer to the same game than sc2 is and everyone is pushing for sc2 to take over. The map can still be patched to try and make it even closer to the same game if somebody is willing to do that.

An "insider" isn't enough to determine they're dropping BW. Seems like that'd be fairly unlikely.

This can't be explained. Play a game of BW, then watch a game of high level BW.

There's nothing to lose to try. SC2 is not that successful in Korea already. and who know if OGN's target will be only korea anymore?

Because it doesn't make sense to spend millions on a dying community. How many people still watch BW games from TL, hundreds? If it doesn't get the numbers other games get, why would they keep pumping money into it. Definitely not for the love of the game.

This is really nice to hear. BW is dying and not well-supported in Korea. SC2 is blooming world wide so its a good move. I would love to see more SC2 games from top level korean pros.
