The foreign fanbase isn't invested in GOM but the players in the GSL, who would be dumb not to switch to a team sponsored by a BW company. Assuming they indeed sponsor teams in the sc2 PL scene.

It could be difficult for teams to participate in both leagues at once if a gentleman's agreement is not reached.

I'm sure KeSPA will enforce exclusivity with the PL players, and not allow them to compete in any other tournament, anywhere in the world, for any reason.

Dont you think Blizz will do anything against that because I think they will.

Blizzard has proven time and time again that they are interested in money, not ethics, not morals, not what's good for the community, just money. KeSPA is a sort of temptress that I don't trust around Blizzard.

you're making it seem like blizzard's servers run on little boy's tears somewhere in Africa
please show me how blizzard only cares about money and completely ignores ethics, morals, and the community

Because if you really think about it, blizzard has a lot more involvement with the community than a lot of other games
they have forums
community polls regarding maps, game units and other things
they sponsor events, like the GSL
they even have blizzcon
hell, they even made us wait YEARS for games such as SC2 and Diablo 3 because they are so concerned with getting a really good game out..

so please enlighten me on how blizzard is so evil

Riot Games, LLC. Enough said.

Forums is a necessity for any fucking MMO game, lets get that out of the way. It's a necessary expense.
Community polls are cute, but it doesn't cost them anything. If I offered them $100,000.00 to neglect the poll results, they'd do it.
They "sponsor" events, in the form of giving GOM a contract and collecting money. They don't "sponsor" events like Dr. Pepper sponsors MLG.
Blizzcon was canceled (was that this year?), but normally it's the worlds best marketing toy, and it earns them money.
We wait years for SC2 and Diablo 3 because a finished product sells more copies.

They don't care about you, stop pretending they're Jesus, Inc.
They care about money. It's not fucking shocking, they are a capitalist business. They're supposed to care about money.

A few points, Blizzard have said that they actually lose money on Blizzcon and the employees if they want to go then they actually have to buy their own tickets.

And what about Riot? Is that the best you came up with? Because really Valve and Riot are the only other major companies that are on a similar level to what Blizzard does for the community.

you're just a jaded cynical person that's taking everything for granted. The difference between Blizzard at the other two is how they go about making money

Blizard said they lose mone. But it is doubtful. They never released the number of online viewer which i assume is huge and i can't see how this event make them lose mone.

They might say so to have an excuse not to have one this year but common' i doubt they loose money on this.

I don't know, I'm really worried that Kespa will try and enforce exclusivity again. That would either make their leagues irrelevant or slowly strangle the foreigner scene as the best players are kept out of foreigner tournaments. Either way, there's no room in my opinion for a Kespa-style exclusive league and a vibrant foreign tournament scene like we have now. They can't coexist, because the best players in the world will either be in one or the other.

Why lie about that they probably have it in the annual report whether they made a loss or not. Blizzcon is obviously a massive marketing tool so they're probably fine with making a loss for what they get in return.

I dont understand when you say "kespa will try and enforce exclusivity again". They never did in the first place. They would let foreigners come and compete in courage tournament however they were not good enough to win that. So they were not picked up by teams and it became what it is now today.

Could someone explain why they´d have to mix up the teams? Whats the problem with BW teams becoming SCII teams? We´d have a lot more teams, yeah, so what?

there is absolutely no way that blizzard lies about this
activision-blizzard is a PUBLICLY traded company and saying that they LOSE money on an event is NOT something that they want to do, but they have to do to remain transparent with their shareholders

if you're really doubtful you can look up blizzard's finances, yes they ARE public, and they announce them at the end of every quarter(one should be coming up soon)

if blizzard were to lie about LOSING money on an event, just to please forum trolls
they would LITERALLY be risking the future of their company

not to mention that they get audited by some pretty big companies who would be in HUGE risk if they didn't point out a 'lie' like this

The problem is that two games are not mutually exclusive. BW teams would perform poorly when forced to adapt to another game and their performance would suffer in both. For illustrated example, it's like forcing all LoL teams to play in DotA league will make the scene better as there would now be more teams; instead, it is going to turn out as farce.

most SC2 teams would die if this were to happen

the budget that the BW teams have in comparison to sc2 teams is so massive that sc2 teams wouldn't be able to compete

now even if the bw teams switched to SC2, they probably wouldn't bring as many sponsors seeing as how SC2 is not as big right now but just as an example (and this is pure speculation) Flash and Bisu probably make more in salary than all of the korean team-based sc2 players get in salary
I don't know exactly how much they make in salary but I think that they both make 200k+ (USD) a year (you can search on TL)
I don't really remember any teams releasing that they pay their players other than TSL, and TSL paid FD around 23k (USD) a year right? whenever that was announced at least
and they only paid like 4-5 of their players?
