'Terrans never go for a factory in tvz, he must be stream cheating'
That quote alone would indicate the guy was trolling surely, at least towards the end? Seems relatively minor anyway, shame things get blown up massively on reddit these days, SC2 is as bad as a cheap gossip magazine at times.

The problem is with the attitude of casters, it's kind of sickening how they feel they're on the same level as players and that they're entitled to the same respect as players. It's been happening for a while, even that whole bit about Artosis crying about people needing to treat the casters better and even implying it's the casters that make SC2 and not the players.
It's a joke, especially for mediocre (at best) casters like this guy. Those who can't, cast or manage. It's honestly as simple as that, all the managers of teams/tournaments and most of the casters all act like they're so important and they get a sense of accomplishment because they can talk to and be around famous players. It's so ridiculous.
The players should always be put first and the casters should show respect to all players that are competing in their tournament and an organization like playhem should definitely take action against someone like this who is obviously not qualified to represent them.
It's not the best comparison but it reminded me of an article recently writtent about Jeremy Lin, in the artiicle the author used the phrase "chink in his armor" and it caused a bit of drama from fans. The author, if I remember correctly, was like a lead writer on NBA.com and was fired. I don't think the phrase was used in a racist way and it would have been totally justifiable if the website simply gave him a slap on the wrist but they didn't, they fired him. I think it says a lot that they did so and the same view should be taken in SC2 as they do in sports; the players are everything. No one cares about an author or analyst, or in our case casters, managers, etc.
It's the same in SC2; the players are everything. No one watches playhem to listen to this random caster, they watch to see players like Dragon; someone that this caster has probably offended, so fire him. It's as simple as that. If you can't act professionally and if you can't realize that when you are casting for an orginzation like playhem that what you say is a reflection and representation of them then you obviously aren't qualified to do so.

Unacceptable behaviour from Katu. This is not how you act professionally, and as a caster, you do represent a tournament. I refuse to watch anything Playhem related until Katu is dropped from the team, or forms an actual apology that's more than just "lol i was trolin u".

So what you're saying is that I can say whatever I want and everything will be OK as long as I just say "oh I was just trolling."
That's not how it works.
If I started mouthing off on this forum calling HotBid and Kennigit and Day9 and any other major community figure <insert very racist, homophobic, and defamatory slander in here> I would get banned in a fucking heartbeat, never welcome in this community ever again. Saying that he was just trolling doesn't make it OK.

I'm Ryan, one of the founders of Playhem. I'm sorry if the following is sloppy and disorganized -- It's after 3am and was just woken up to my phone pinging with all of the complaint emails we've received due to this incident. However, I think its imperative that I address this immediately.
First and foremost, I must express my sincerest apologies to Dragon, his fans, and our stream viewers that were subject to the distaste apparent in our broadcast tonight. There are no excuses for such behavior, intentions included. However, being a strong believer in the adage, "actions speak louder than words," I'd like to extend an offer to Dragon, and indirectly to his fans, in an attempt to make amends. If his schedule permits, it would be our pleasure to sponsor Dragon at IPL 4 in Vegas -- player pass, hotel, and flight included. We would love for him to represent Playhem at the event, but understand if his preference is otherwise. The offer stands regardless. I can't read or write Korean, so if someone who does would be kind enough to help me contact and communicate with him, please email me at rdesanto@playhem.com.
Over the past year we have found our home in the Starcraft 2 community, for which we are proud and grateful. Without the daily support our players and fans, we would cease to exist. I will admit, this situation was handled improperly, and my apology probably too late. And so, I understand if you ignore my appeal, but please do not let the actions of an individual be representative of Playhem as a whole. All-in-all there are nearly 30 of us who wake up every morning and work into the hours of night with the singular goal of making Playhem something special. If everyone can take a step back from what transpired tonight, I think our true intentions are clear. We are committed to providing quality entertainment to the e-sports community, players of all skills and spectators alike. We <3 e-sports and all those involved, wanting nothing more than to continue showing our support in any way we can.
That said, I do not know what the fair punishment is, yet. I will ask, if a reformed player previously fallen from grace deserves redemption, should a caster not as well? I suppose Katu holds the answer to this question, but ultimately you, the community, will be the judge.
Unfortunately, my role in Playhem distances me from our day to day operations and an active involvement in the e-sports community. Between leading a team of 20 developers, heading up business development, fundraising, and everything else that comes with running a start-up, I'm left with little time to engage in a passion that was the catalyst for founding this company. What's even more unfortunate, is that an event of this nature is what brings me back. I'm truly sorry that any of this happened.
I love his response. Hope Dragon accepts and katu gets a slap! And thats how drama is settled! well done playhem!

Sounds like the founder has his head on straight, that was a good response.

Why did you include Bonk name in this, I really don't understand, he was clearly not agreeing with katu and tried to calm things down.
|
he was clearly joking and he dragged it a lil long but... The rest of the those finals was a great cast.
This got blown WAY out of proportion imo. But thats just me.
glgl love Playhem.

People quickly forget who they are when they achieve some success.
The thing is that he just didnt say a bad word or made an unappropriate conclusion. He just openly spewed at him because he have made a mistake in the past. Pathetic behaviour for a caster and a really bad mark for the tournament he represents. He should be fired or at least receive a pretty harsh penalty for his words.
|
These 2 casters should stop casting and try to be forgotten for a little bit. This is unacceptable, such a lack of professionalism

Ok here's a deal, how about we apply similar standards of judgement to the trash posters in here, might actually go someway to making LR threads and the like bearable again.
Again I think it's been a bit blown out of proportion, Playhem's representative's response was pretty on the money
|
I just listened to the relevant part of the cast. I don't understand what Katu was thinking when he said what he did. By all means, casters shouldn't be that accusatory and inflammatory in the middle of a cast. If he can't act like a competent caster and has to bring up his trash talk and rumors and be an asshole about it, he shouldn't be casting...

No logical reason to include Bonk. This is just blind hate.
The guy said straight up he was separating himself from those remarks.

People saying it's blown out of proportion, I ask you this;
What would your reaction be if, in that game that was casted, instead of the caster it was Dragon's opponent who started saying word for word wat Katu said? He would be labeled as BM and everyone would flame the hell out of him and he would probably be banned from playhem. Yet when a caster like this does it, people just say it's blown out of proportion.

No, only Katu. While Bonk didn't exactly jump to Dragon's defense, he wasn't trying to shit on him either.
|
im not sure if katu is who i am thinking about , but if so, i didnt like him ever since after a ksl match where he started to stream his own game and he said something i found very offensive... i understand its his own stream and can say whatever he wants but i found it kind of ehhhhh...
|
Is it possible that Dragon was caught stream cheating in playhem or something and they never released it?
|
So if I got this right, this is a vendetta, publicly criticizing a caster for publicly criticizing a player. Well, just to complete the circle, you're an overreacting dick with no sense of proportion and an internet-crush that maybe you should be ashamed of.
