Using a smurf account, Seo Yeon Ji, Dragon participated in various online tournaments. In particular, he participated in A1 KotH where he finished 1st in September 2010’s overall ranking. Based on this result, he was invited to play in A1 Starcraft2 Tournament #2 which invited top 6 players from KotH and 2 other players.
In the first round of the tournament, he played against TheStC and won. Soon after the match, TheStC wrote in PlayXP that “Seo Yeon Ji used absurd counter build order without scouting. I know that Seo Yeon Ji is MioWerra’s smurf account and MioWerra has been doing stream-cheating online.”[8]
After speaking with TheStC and members of WeRRa, Dragon publicly apologized to TheStC, members of oGs and WeRRa. After Dragon was accused of maphacking, streamcheating and match fixing on PlayXP-forums[9], he then replied that "he was sorry for what he had done" but didn't go into detail which parts of the allegations were true. Furthermore he stated that he would “never dream of other tournaments, televised matches, or pursue a career as a pro-gamer.”[10] Katu said that Dragon was kicked out of SlayerS for cheating and was banned from all tournaments as well as being a stream cheater. Incorrect, baseless, slander.
Apparently he purposely did this to piss off chat disregarding the image and slander he has done to dragon. The guy is a douche who can`t control his emotions over a cast because of chat (which everyone knows by now is full of trolls)
Edit - I do feel bad for playhem and dragon because of one bad apple though.

Alright I just listened to the offending part.
Katu, get out of this community.

Also - KATU WAS TROLLING BECAUSE OF THE CHAT COMMENTS - as far as i understood what was happening. I don't really see anything wrong with his casting, he has a right to talk trash, if he goes to far eventually he will lose his audience... I really think you are overreacting about what he was saying. Yea he was just trolling guys doesn't matter what he said because it was all trolling.... Come on how clueless can you be? Doesn't matter if you don't mean what you say it still effects people because you said it. It disgusts me how quick people are to shun responsibility. Is everyone on TL a teenager? Also, I feel sad for dragon, Think how he felt when watching the vod that the caster is bashing him and talking crap to him :/ And he competed in this tournament..

Going to hold the pitchfork high on this one, never liked Katu's casting in general now this is just icing on the cake, he can't even commentate and now he says them comments towards dragon accusing him of cheating when he goes 3 cc to a roach all-in?...yes in his past he owned up to cheating; get over it he is legit now many people korean and non-korean that now are well-known in sc2 community have cheated before competitively. It's just childish to bring it up unnecessarily whilst live-streaming playhem keep your personal thoughts to yourself if you want to get anywhere in the scene

I cant watch any content from Katu because of his attitude. He shouldn't be allowed to cast for anyone.

I dislike casters that whine about their stream chat anyway. As much as I hate Dragon for what he did, and I do not think he should be allowed to continue as a progamer, casters should stick to talking about the game. Not bming players.

The other guy indeed does not agree at all with what Katu's saying btw. I don't think it's fair to accuse him.
|
Caught threads over on Reddit about this incident but thankfully here the time and the vod was actually linked. Pretty bad little rant from the guy but then I watched the VOD some more and the commentating from the guy itself is just extremely subpar so easy choice just to move him on

You should change the title, Bonk explicitly cut himself from what Katu was saying.

Well, looks like it worked, gg. Trolling chat is fine, but at the expense of a player?
Anyway, will probably get more viewers now

Katu: "for once we're gonna see some punishment thrown here towards dragon" ....after the game is over.... "for once we see some quick, rapid punishment toward Dragon and his greedy ways." ... "apparently dragon is lagging like crazy, that's why he lost. not because he went 3CC against a roach all-in....*laughing... and you know what i'm not accusing him of stream cheating but i just want to put this out there... if he just randomly started to lag now, think about reasons he would start lagging. just saying, just saying. i'm not even implying that, all right. I don't want to say he's stream cheating because he might not be, but dragon is known for this kind of stuff. and I'm just saying, why would he lag all of a sudden"
Bonk: "dude people are going to get so mad" Katu: "..i hope they get mad, and eat it! if they can't handle the truth then they can keep living in their fantasy world .. commercial break announcement... *laughing"
Katu: "dude do these people not knwo why dragon doesn't go to events? it's cause the guy's banned he che- okay. it was never released what happened but essentially this is the gist, all right guys - (oh no...) so something happened ..."
Katu goes on to explain that's why he's not on slayers and Bonk just wants to separate his name. Katu says fine get away I don't care and says he's just telling the truth, laughs.
Katu keeps laughing randomly.
During game 2 intro Katu: "...who went roach all-in against our incessantly greedy player..." Katu: keeps laughing about chat... "i didn't say he was a stream cheater, but if i'm going to get accused, i'll say it now. i might as well, right? everyone already thinks i said it, dude. he's stream cheating, he's got to be stream cheating. dude look at this, he's going for a factory. Terrans never go for a factory in tvz, he must be stream cheating." Bonk: "asks everyone to take a deep breath bc katu is trolling" Katu: "dude there's no calming down, chill man. we got hte first zerglings..."
after game 2 Katu: "I don't know why no one at playhem is defending me. I made a joke ab Dragon and unfortunately everyone took it seriously. so i apologize for it guys.... i expected a lot of trolls." *more apologies, confused why people are jumping down his throat Bonk: also apologizes.
here's some of it transcribed.

Bonk dosnt deserve any shit I think he did a brave thing to explicitly state he did not agree with it. Alot of co-casters would probably just talk along with it because lets face it, I think most people would be too nervous not to.

One of the founders of Playhem responds in another thread, offers to send Dragon to IPL 4.

I'm Ryan, one of the founders of Playhem. I'm sorry if the following is sloppy and disorganized -- It's after 3am and was just woken up to my phone pinging with all of the complaint emails we've received due to this incident. However, I think its imperative that I address this immediately.
First and foremost, I must express my sincerest apologies to Dragon, his fans, and our stream viewers that were subject to the distaste apparent in our broadcast tonight. There are no excuses for such behavior, intentions included. However, being a strong believer in the adage, "actions speak louder than words," I'd like to extend an offer to Dragon, and indirectly to his fans, in an attempt to make amends. If his schedule permits, it would be our pleasure to sponsor Dragon at IPL 4 in Vegas -- player pass, hotel, and flight included. We would love for him to represent Playhem at the event, but understand if his preference is otherwise. The offer stands regardless. I can't read or write Korean, so if someone who does would be kind enough to help me contact and communicate with him, please email me at rdesanto@playhem.com.
Over the past year we have found our home in the Starcraft 2 community, for which we are proud and grateful. Without the daily support our players and fans, we would cease to exist. I will admit, this situation was handled improperly, and my apology probably too late. And so, I understand if you ignore my appeal, but please do not let the actions of an individual be representative of Playhem as a whole. All-in-all there are nearly 30 of us who wake up every morning and work into the hours of night with the singular goal of making Playhem something special. If everyone can take a step back from what transpired tonight, I think our true intentions are clear. We are committed to providing quality entertainment to the e-sports community, players of all skills and spectators alike. We <3 e-sports and all those involved, wanting nothing more than to continue showing our support in any way we can.
That said, I do not know what the fair punishment is, yet. I will ask, if a reformed player previously fallen from grace deserves redemption, should a caster not as well? I suppose Katu holds the answer to this question, but ultimately you, the community, will be the judge.
Unfortunately, my role in Playhem distances me from our day to day operations and an active involvement in the e-sports community. Between leading a team of 20 developers, heading up business development, fundraising, and everything else that comes with running a start-up, I'm left with little time to engage in a passion that was the catalyst for founding this company. What's even more unfortunate, is that an event of this nature is what brings me back. I'm truly sorry that any of this happened.

Wow. Really? I need to start making funny faces on my stream and start smurfing in bronze league.

even if he was just trolling, it doesn't mean he can just sprouting around baseless things like that. He really should give out a public apology or something, especially to Dragon

Mods please remove Bonk from the title, he was trying to get as far away from Katu's bullshit as possible.

Too bad Bonk is getting crap on him as well in the topic title when he did nothing wrong here, quite the opposite.

Pointless drama where one of reddits favorite "fun streamers" is being attacked, better avoid that site today...
Personally I think talking shit about a player in a minor tournament cast is roughly equivalent to writing an insulting post on a forum, aka not that big of a deal.

Personally I think talking shit about a player in a minor tournament cast is roughly equivalent to writing an insulting post on a forum, aka not that big of a deal. The one factor that makes me majorly disagree with your opinion is that the caster is not only representing himself, he is representing Playhem. Small start-ups that get shit on by the community die. Look at WellPlayed after the reddit scandal; it didn't die, but all of a sudden no-one gave a flying fuck about it any more. I'm really afraid that one caster's idiocy will mean Playhem will lose so much that they've earned.
