The whole MMR system, league divisions, hiding of losses was made so casual gamers would keep playing.
Well they didn't.
I used to have an ingame friendlist of about 30 casuals online and these days usually 0 are on. Occassionally 1 or 2 in the weekend. I hear it from others too, allmost all casual friends stopped and moved on to LOL or other games. Most of the more competitive players, diamond+, in my friendlist are still playing however, almost daily.
Blizzard, it seems the goal of MMR etc isn't achieved, so why keep bothering to hide stuff from people, to give some false "everyone is a winner" illusion. Most SC2 players aren't childs anymore, but adults who don't want to be forced in a world with only rainbows and flowers, we want to see as many info we can, also the bad.
Even casuals want that it seems. In LoL they can see all their stats and losses and talk with others after the game. It's not hurting that game is it.
Give us back or global ranks, win/losses ratios and other stats please. MMR is a fail.

Thanks OP for a great write-up. I hate to say it but I agree 100% with you.
It's a shame Battle.net 2.0 lacks in so many fields where it improved only on so view.

They wouldn't have regardless. It was a frivolous attempt. This is the RTS scene as we know it. - -

The casuals probably wouldn't have stayed anyway? Yes but that's not a problem is it. Just stop catering to them. Make your game for the people who keep playing, give them as much info as they want, since these are the people that will promote your game in the long run. And in the end that just might cause more casuals to stay as well.

War3 was a complete upgrade of BW Battle.net. That is how it should be, adding new features while keeping the great old ones. SC2 is a complete step backwards from War3 and even BW. I just feel like I play better AI when I get on battle.net, albeit trash talking ones.

with the way blizzard is heading now, im sure a new UI will be for sale soon enough.

I'm shocked by two bugs in the chat that have been around forever... In a middle of writing a text message, you get a popup (invite to party/start game) the text cursor will jump to the 4th character in the chat window.
The other one is while typing fast a phrase, password anything, the last character will lag behind the enter press.
I can type quite slowly and will do it... The text lag, enter doesn't... Extremly impressive to be able to code such bugs

I could see this happening. Imagine that Blizzard finally listened. Here are all of our requested UI changes available through micro payments! For the low price of 5$ per month (ONLY $5 ?!) you can have a visible win loss ratio. Upgrade to premium for access to clan tags!
Chat timestamps coming soon.

Recently, I've got my friends into Starcraft 2 and as others leave due to the difficulty or emptiness of the game, I'm hoping Blizz will sort this out so they can stay and I can have more fun :D

I played in season1 and stopped until about two weeks ago.
The main reasons for my hiatus are in this thread. The social aspect of the game is total trash. Bnet 2.0 is a joke.
I find it annoying when a company tells me what I want out of a product. I find it even more annoying when they tell me what I want and then proceed to deliver a product that is such a joke.
Activi$ion is too busy making pandas to try and milk Blizzard for what they can before its reputation goes to crap like Infinity Ward. I seriously doubt they plan on retaining any sort of player base for SC2 or D3 if they don't make any radical changes to the joke that is bnet 2.0

Battle.net has some major flaws, a major redesigning is needed. Will there a major architectural redesign? Unlikely if we look at the cost/benefit for Blizzard. Its likely though that different teams are working on different parts of the game such as the Menu UI, cinematics, models, game engine etc. this means that every part will be improved during updates, but I wouldn't expect anything major

That is why we're waiting to see what happens in Heart of the Swarm.

I wholeheartedly agree about the poor communication system, which leads to a very stale lifeless experience. I play with housemates and friends over teamspeak because chat in SC2 is poor. There is also a lot of potential in the game's userface: tournaments, clans, custom map play and design, yet the game seems oriented around getting players to want to be #1 in their gold league rather than supporting the community which gives them so much support in return. Why? I'll tell you why. There is nothing better on the market and Browder's wallet is bulging. The game has sold well and the attention is on marketing rather than substance. So stop acting like these guys at Blizz give a f**k what we think. You saw the HOTS units supposedly following community feedback? You see any LAN support yet? I love TL and the community, don't get me wrong, but many of us seem quite deluded. If this post gets 1 million views and Blizzard does something about it I will eat my keyboard, with zergling sauce.

I know this might be a little off topic, but surely the lead for UI design of Bnet 2.0 has been fired yes?
|
Agree 100% with you OP. It is such a frustrating experience to try and set up a custom game with friends, messaging people, no loss stats. Its all just plain terrible. Huge step back. Really expected so much more from Blizzard. Damn shame.

They wanted to innovate, they wanted to create this multi purpose design, they wanted to create something new. The old Battle.net was good, but they made a bad decision are stuck with it, recreating takes so much work that its insanely cost ineffective for them, so I would like to know why you guys think this will happen. Nonetheless, we need a massive protest (not buying into HOTS unless its contains battle.net 3.0) front:D

omg this thread is just awesome or is it sad that Blizzard did this to B.net 2.0?
I totally agree 100% and there are so many good options how the Battle.net could look like. If Blizzard would only put some of those things into the new Battle.net they would make it so good. Even the progamers do not like the UI as well as Mr.Chae said that Blizzard should change it.
Looking forward to HotS...

Good to see that there's still a number of people supporting this. Predictably, we've lost a lot of momentum due to the announcement for patch 1.5, but it's also motivating to see new people stumble upon this thread or the official forum versions to see what they're missing out on and how much better the game could be. Don't forget, 1.5 is just a step in the right direction, nothing more.

I definitely didn't forget about this thread. Although, I'm currently supporting FRB idea from Barrin and it has caught my attention over this as it is more plausible to happen really.

God this is ridicously. In almost every major tournament, there has been games dropped because of BNET. Even GSL which is the top top competition and takes place right next to the Blizzards systems have had server disconnects. Its not a question of competency on Blizzards part, its a natural problem with having to connect to Blizzard's servers.
Blizzard can still pretend to use the scapegoat of piracy as the reason despite there already being a lan hack for SC2, but atleast give major tournaments a LAN version to save face
