Protoss air has some features that could be used, phoenix cc...but all in all there needs to be more synergy. | ||

Let's save the carrier! Let s make a petition or something! I m sick of being stuck to the ground. I played P in BW mainly for carriers in PvT and Reaver play in PvZ/PvP for the mobility and micro intensive fights it gave (and because the dragoons were stupid, but anyways...) | ||

Things like speed, range, acquisition range, microability, damage/upgrades, interceptor health/armor are all things that can be tweaked without any significant changes in other ares. Hell, Blizzard has even shown willingness to change other things like the carrier interceptor footprint (make it smaller) which was never really an issue and perhaps leads to other issues (fungal lockdown). Blizzard's problem is that they are always very concerned about how they think a unit should be used. It's been a key factor in several of their design/balance decisions (look at mass thor nerfs among others) and not always for the best. When will they realize they cannot just continue to micromanage a huge and competitive game the way they are? Let the carrier stay, and buff it just into the realm of usefulness. The players will do the rest. | ||

The reason I don't think I could have won those games without carriers because for the 2 games vs Zerg, I still think the archon toilet is a big gimmick and The only real way to beat a zerg who has broodlord corruptor infestor is with mass carrier mothership and about 4 archons. This way even if the vortex isnt perfect you will still be able to kill his corruptors, and if he has no broodlords all you have to do is make a few extra archons and focus the middle of the group. When I'm playing vs a Terran I do a very different style, I like to call it Toss Mech. It consists mostly of collosus phoenix immortal, until the very late game where i start to go very carrier heavy and since I go phoenix in the mid game they will be very upgraded carriers vs the Terrans less upgraded vikings. However, in this game, I got a very bad engage vs a meching player, and this were looking pretty terrible, but carriers are incredibly good vs mech, because if you spread the carriers , the Thor splash damage does very little damage. | ||

I've seen a lot of pro players start to transition into storm so that they can storm the corrupters when they try to kill the mothership. Though I agree, you really need to go air to have a chance against broodlord death balls since their Air to Ground DPS alongside fungal is just way too high. Plus: If you have vortex and air units instead of trying to vortex all the broods you only need to vortex a portion of the army OR you can vortex the overseers if they are clumped up and move too far forward. A Zerg with no detection against a mommaship is a dead zerg after all. | ||

Hydras, Fungal Growth and Corruptors are the only thing Zerg can effectively use to combat Carriers. Queens dont really count IMO due to the limited number they are usually built, but then Zerg could switch to a massive number of Queens as a way to counter air armies. Storm always has the problem of being ground based and Zerglings are MUCH faster than Protoss units and thus the HTs are pretty vulnerable in comparison to potentially cloaked Carriers. Carriers are also able to abuse terrain, although many of the current maps dont have much terrain to abuse and are pretty open in the center. | ||
